10 Ways to Wear the Zella Live-In Joggers

I’ve had quite a few requests recently to show a bunch of ways to wear the Zella Live-In Joggers, so I did a little fashion show yesterday and took pictures for you!

Of course, you can substitute any pair of joggers for the Zella ones I’m wearing. It’s just that a lot of people purchased the Zella pair during the #NSale and were asking for outfit inspiration for them.

10 Stylish Ways to Wear Joggers for Fall

First off, let me tell you that all of these outfits are very casual. I’ve seen other bloggers dress up their joggers with a blazer and pumps, but I am not that girl.

I almost tried it, just to have more variety in this post, and then I did that gut-check that I often do when putting outfits together for the blog… But would you wear it?

I ask myself that A LOT.

So all of these outfits are something that I’d actually wear. And they are all outfits I threw together in about 20 minutes from what I have in my closet. I could definitely get more creative with accessories if I had more time.

I was also wishing I had a more basic flip-flop to put with some of these looks, but then again, we’re headed into fall, so flip-flops aren’t going to be very practical for most of us for very long.

If you don’t yet have a pair of go-to joggers, I also have and highly recommend the Vuori Performance Jogger. These have a very similar fit and feel to the Zella pair, although they’re a tad shorter. I also sized up to a medium in the Vuori. (I have a small in the Zella.)

I also love my Lululemon Align Joggers. I have a size 6 in those, but you could size up for a looser fit.

And if you need a more budget-friendly option, I hear good things about this pair from Amazon. I’m sure there are others, but those are the ones I’ve personally tried.

Okay, let’s get started!

10 Stylish Ways to Wear Joggers

The most obvious way to style joggers is with a t-shirt and sneakers or sandals. This is the way I wear mine most often. Add a necklace and earrings, and it will look more like a complete outfit.

A long-sleeve tee will take you a little further into fall, but I actually wear this lightweight tee with my Birks on mild summer days.

FYI, Sub_Urban Riot tees are SOOOO soft and comfortable. Very good quality, if you’re looking to add a few graphic tees to your closet.

Another option is a stylish sweatshirt with joggers… it’s as basic as it gets, but the key is to wear a sweatshirt with some style factor.

This one is a splurge, but it is so ridiculously soft, you won’t even believe it. Well worth the price tag, in my opinion. I have a feeling this one will be on constant repeat this fall and winter.

If you want to take it up a notch, add a layering piece. This is a great travel outfit, by the way, but I also wear this a lot to run errands.

I feel like the stripe tee elevates the look a bit over a solid tee, and then the denim jacket completes the look and also offers some structure.

A leather jacket is another layering option and gives this jogger outfit an edgy vibe. I love how this jacket pairs with the camo tee.

I don’t love this look as much, maybe with a white tee? But a suede moto is always an option.

And a cardigan is a cozy layering piece that works really well with joggers, since they’re already part loungewear.

Take it all the way, and wear your slippers if you’re going to be home all day. You still look put together on top, if you need to hop on a Zoom call, and you can easily swap out the slippers for sneakers if you need to run a last minute errand.

This cardigan is slightly more elevated, and I also changed into a tee that has a little more style than the plain v-neck above.

And here’s another option, with a black cardigan. This is totally what I’d wear every day this fall if I was teaching online or doing a lot of teleconferencing for work.

And finally, if you want to level up your joggers a bit more, or just have some variety for telecommuting, you can pair a luxe pullover sweater with joggers. Add a few accessories, and you’re good to go!

I think that was actually 11 looks… but who’s counting, really?

And I suppose a few are rather redundant, but isn’t it amazing how changing out the cardigan or the t-shirt makes a totally different outfit, even if the rest of the components are the same? And of course, you can always add a scarf or a ball cap or other accessories to change up the look.

I hope this post was helpful for those who are wearing joggers a lot these days.

If you’re more like me, and never feel fully dressed unless your pants button and zip, you can swap out the joggers for jeans or cargo pants in just about any of these looks.

And that’s a wrap for August! Can you believe it?

Me either.

Tomorrow starts 22 Days of Fall Fashion, where I team up with Cyndi Spivey and we each style a new fall outfit every weekday during the month of September. I hope you’ll join us!!!

  1. Thank you!  Bought those and some of the other pieces at the N Sale.  Teaching a hybrid model and plan to wear those on my at home days!!  Love the cute tops with them.  Thanks for the inspiration!

      1. It doesn’t always look right, but sometimes I flip the jogger cuffs up, just like I would deep-cuff a jean leg. Sometimes the stitching is really obvious & it looks tacky, but with some pairs, I can ‘crop’ up to 2 inches off. You can also fold up only half the cuff, that works well with some styles, but usually only takes off an inch.

I also love my old navy yoga waist joggers, it’s easier to adjust the length with the fold over waist. I am really fussy about my pant length for tactile reasons & don’t like how most cropped styles feel (it’s either short-shorts or full calf coverage for me lol), but am short, so I do a lot of adjusting.

  2. I love these Ideas! I’m 6’ tall with crazy long legs & even the tall joggers look too cropped on me.  I just purchased a pattern & plan to sew some instead.  Now you’ve made me want to get sewing even more quickly with these terrific looks!

  3. Teaching on-line this fall means I will be “dressed” on top, but not so much on the bottom. I am going to try the ones you mentioned from amazon.

        1. That’s okay. It happens. You are just amazing with giving links, options, etc. You make shopping so much easier (especially for shopping impaired people like me haha!)
I did find another pair on amazon. Also Daily Ritual. Looking forward to trying them on.

  4. Wow!! You look great in all the looks… I had to return mine, too big and they sold out so I am looking for something else like them but perhaps not as thin..

    Have a Blessed day xo

  5. I’m probably one of the few that so far hasn’t given in to joggers. They seem like sweat pants to me, but I’ll still use your ideas to wear with black jeans. I admit, I sometimes keep on my workout clothes all day though. Keeping it real here. Love all your outfit inspirations!

  6. Great post!  Very helpful since I bought these during the sale and look forward to wearing them.  BTW, thanks for just keeping it real on the blog!

  7. Great post. Love all the looks. I got the Zella joggers from the sale. Can’t wait to wear them.  What black tote are you carrying in the photo…you know me🤣 Also the cardigan from Amazon, what did you think of it? I missed out on the a Barefoot leopard one from the sale. Thanks.

    1. It’s the YSL. I like the cardigan – it feels soft and thick and good quality. It’s not super fuzzy soft like the Barefoot Dreams, but it’s a good value for the price and I like the color palette.

  8. What an inspirational post!  It looks like we can pair just about anything in our closet with our joggers and be good to go.  We just need the cooler weather to arrive so that I can start wearing my cardigans and jackets.  I’m curious if you just do a front tuck with most of your tees or tuck it in completely.  I’m so glad that you are feeling better when you move, and that the photo shoot was no problem.  Enjoy the rest of your day.

  9. I love the camo sweatshirt. Is it blue or gray, Jo-Lynne? In your photo, it looks blueish but the description suggests gray. Great post.

  10. Love this post. I’ll be referring to it for sure. I love a nice jogger outfit for comfort when running a bunch of errands. Some days I just don’t feel like getting too dressed up to grab groceries or make a quick run to Costco. These outfits certainly take it up a notch so you still look put together while being comfortable:) Thanks 😊

  11. Fun post. No sizes left in the zella joggers by time I could shop. :(.  Excited for the Fall series. My favorite. You asked me to tell you how I like the spanx black skinny pant. Well so bummed. The regular small is way too tight. So I know when the petite small comes it will be a no. As for the length of the regular, i think it’s a good length and I’m only 5’3”, but I bet the petite length would be better for me.  Now it’s too late to order a medium on sale. I had no idea Id take a medium at 5’3” and 118 lbs.  You took medium so I figured I’d be small. Oh well. They sure are quality made. If I get to a store maybe they will do exchange and order me medium for sale price I paid on small.  They look more like pants on you. They looked like tight leggings on me. Ugh!!!!  Anyway, enjoy your day. We have cloudy day today but the 90’s are coming.

    1. Hey Kathy, that’s a bummer. I am surprised the small didn’t fit. DEFINITELY go to the store, or get on Live Chat and inquire. They will likely honor the price and get you a different size. It’s worth a try, for sure. (And if one says no, try the other… sometimes it just depends on who you get.)

      1. Ok thanks for information. Never have done live chat. :). I’m sure they will exchange and honor price. They are pretty good. Now to decide petite medium or regular medium. 🤪

      2. Hey just thought of something. Will you be bringing back Tuesday Lives and then post the link to Wed email post too?  Those were always fun.

  12. PS. Glad to hear your back is alittle better. You are not a drama queen. You are just keeping it real and it makes us not feel so bad that we all too are falling apart. Lol.

    1. Glad you could do your photo shoot. You are a trooper! We all seem to be falling apart. Bodies don’t heal well (or take much longer to heal) when under stress….. This is a year of mega stress. I too have gone from health problem #1 to #2 to #3 to……Good grief! Feeling like a drama queen myself. Give yourself grace and time to rest and self – care. Love the jogger looks! Fall is coming. The mornings and evenings are crisp and cool.

  13. Thank you so much for this post!  I bought a pair of the zella joggers from Nordstrom anniversary sale with tax for 42.00 –  a great price for this quality!  LOVE!!  The fit is perfect!   These looks from this post helped me a lot!  I also donated some sweats that aren’t flattering for me! I feel more out together even working from home!

  14. I agree, I don’t feel dressed if I don’t have a button and zipper or they are “pants” even with an elastic waist.
I have to say, I don’t love the joggers with sandals. I guess I’m just traditional.  Sneakers make the most sense to me. I tried the Zella ones and they were too short on me. I bought the Vuori ones from the website in tall. I think they’re fine but not as amazing as people say.  Sorry, I’m all negative today!  On a positive note, there are some cute outfits here!  Thank you for sharing!

  15. I love this post! We’ll keep close to home this fall with hybrid learning so these jogger looks are perfect! Thank you so much!

  16. Hi Jo-Lynne,

Can you provide a shopping link to the purple T-shirt you are wearing in the first photo?  Also, are you wearing a small?  Did it shrink when you washed it? Thank you!

    Lisa
