2 Casual Holiday Looks with Gap + Gift Ideas

There’s been a theme among the requests I’ve received this year for holiday content… you guys are going casual!

Sure, a few of you have cocktail parties or winter weddings coming up, but it sounds like most of you have a social life similar to mine — very, very casual.

I’ve had requests for ways to wear jeans for the holidays, how to dress up your favorite casual sweater, and casual holiday looks that won’t break the bank. Today’s post is all about that!

Gap is well known for their sustainable denim, quality sweaters, and stylish outerwear, making them the perfect partner for this post.

In addition to that, they’re a great destination for thoughtful gifts for the whole family. With free shipping on orders of $50 and over, free returns, and extended store hours during the bustling holiday months, Gap makes your holiday shopping easy.

First, I have a festive holiday outfit that incorporates blue jeans!

You know how I love my skinny jeans, and I was really impressed with these high rise jeggings.

Not only do they have a great wash, a flattering fit, and a trendy exposed button-fly closure, but they have . . . wait for it . . . secret smoothing front pockets. #yesplease

They’re also part of Gap’s water-saving Washwell program, making them a sustainable choice. These jeans run TTS, or size up if in between. I have the 29, for reference.

On top, I’m wearing this pretty metallic v-neck sweater.

It has a shimmery thread throughout that gives it that holiday sparkle, without wearing the predictable red. It also comes in black.

This sweater is very soft and comfortable, and I love the flattering v-neck and the cuffed sleeves.

Looking for something cute and cozy to wear on Christmas morning?

That brings me to my 2nd look, featuring this jacquard quilted pullover hoodie.

This quilted jacquard knit is thick and warm and cozy, perfect for throwing on with your favorite jeans or joggers for brunch with the family or gathering around the treeon Christmas morning.

It would also make a great gift for a sister, friend, or grown daughter. (Both the sweater and hoodie are TTS; I’m wearing a small.)

Speaking of gifts, while shopping for your holiday outfits, you may as well pick up a few gifts at Gap as well. They have a wide range of thoughtful, quality gifts for everyone on your list.

Outerwear is a wonderful gift to give and get, and this cold control parka plays into the current oversized puffer coat trend, but it adds a gorgeous faux fur lined hood.

It has extra details like a button front with hidden full-zip closure, lots of pockets, and an interior drawstring tie at the waist for extra warmth and a more flattering fit.

This coat is also a sustainable choice, as the water-resistant shell and recycled poly-fill are made from recycled plastic bottles. It’s TTS, or size down if in between. I’m wearing the small.

And who doesn’t love to get a pair of fuzzy socks in her stocking? My teenage daughters LOVE these, as do I.

I almost always slip these on at night in lieu of slippers, when we sit around watching TV. They’re comfortable and warm, and I can prop my feet on the ottoman without marking it up.

Gap also has tons of outerwear accessories for the family like hats, gloves, and scarves — plus, pajamas, loungewear, and activewear . . . all perfect for gift giving.

I rounded up some of my top gift ideas below, and you can check out their holiday gift guide for even more!

This is a great time to stock up on gifts and holiday styles because you can save 40% off everything with code 24FLASH, and an extra 20% off that with code COZY.

Plus, if you open a Gap Inc. Credit Card, you can save an additional 20% off when you use your new GapCard on your first purchase!

  1. Good morning. I agree with Susan – post some of your Christmas decor please. If you love I’m sure we will too.

Love love love the bright red sweater. I followed the link & it’s sold out. But you need to wear more red, you look fabulous, not to mention festive in red.

Have a great day – enjoy the snow if it comes.

    1. Hm, that’s odd. I see it in all sizes but XL. I think it also comes in a really pretty green.

I’ll try to share Christmas decor next week! I did my Live from the car today. 🙂

  2. I had an alert this morning. The Aquatalia Tilly boot is on sale for $180. Just ordered a pair in black! So excited to try them

  3. Great outfits and I love that coat… your freezer sounds like mine. I’ve baked over 150 Christmas cookies and my daughter did all the decorating ( as some of those were for her Christmas party) plus she’s the master at decorating. Needless to say I won’t be baking any more except maybe some brittle 😉. We have 3 functions to attend this weekend that just came up in the last two weeks so I’m glad for holiday ideas from you and Cyndi. It pays to pick up some pieces to have on hand just in case:)
    Have a good one

  4. Both of these tops are perfect for any events I have this year. A little sparkle goes a long way and you can never go wrong with a red top. Red is definitely your color, JoLynne.

    House pics, please!

  5. You are absolutely gorgeous in all these photos. 🙂  I’ll have to check out the links to these looks when I get back home.  Heading out.  Hey…..I never did see the link to watch last weeks LIVE if we don’t have facebook.  Could you send it to me? I’d like to see last weeks and will look tomorrow to watch todays. Thanks so much.  Love the LIVES you do.

  6. I love both of these tops. My teen daughter asked for fuzzy socks. Your garland is beautiful. Where did you buy it? Is it pre-decorated or do you do that yourself? Please share.

  7. Yes, most of our get togethers these days are casual too. I’ve found for me the best solution is to take my everyday casual wear and bling it up with a statement necklace and bracelets. Throw on shoes with a heel, few extra curls in your hair and you’ve got a new look. 😉

  8. Love GAP! Cute outfits. These pictures are so beautiful! Kudos to Allison! But she has a beautiful lady to photograph 🎄👏❤️
