2 Holiday Looks with a Lace Tee

Not only is today Cyber Monday, it’s also day 16 of 20 Days of Winter Fashion! Yes, we’re back with more winter outfit inspiration, and today I’m styling a lace tee in two different colors.

I love this lace tee for casual holiday gatherings because it can stand alone, and it also looks great under a jacket. Dress it down with jeans, or go edgy with leather leggings or velvet pants, or even tuck it into a sequin skirt for a dressier look. I’m sure it will surprise no one that I chose to style it with jeans.

Jeans, pumps, and a dressy top is my favorite way to glam it up for the holidays. With the exception of my husband’s office party, most of our holiday gatherings are on the more casual side, but I always want to look festive. These looks combine the best of both worlds!

To add some sparkle, I also ordered this necklace from J.Crew Factory. They have really pretty fashion jewelry and it’s affordable too.

I wasn’t planning to wear these earrings — I forgot to change them out for something smaller with more gold in them, but I think they work okay. I’m just more of a plain Jane and prefer to let the necklace take center stage.

I also added this rhinestone stretch bracelet and carried my metallic clutch. Both of these pieces add more sparkle and shine to the look, keeping it holiday appropriate even though I’m wearing jeans and suede pumps.

I carry this clutch year-round for date nights and other occasions when I want a bag with something a little extra.

I topped off the look with this textured faux fur coat. It’s so cute, plus WARM. I disagree, however, with the website saying to order one size down. I am wearing the small, and it was a little snug through the shoulders. I had to be careful putting it off and on. I would go with your normal coat size or size up if in between.

To keep the look more holiday, I wore these oxblood suede pumps. These are the L.K.Bennett brand that Kate Middleton is so fond of, and they’re gorgeous shoes, plus I love the lower heel.

The oxblood color was discontinued, but I found some at Amazon. The navy and black suede are on sale at Saks, and they’re fully stocked in the black at Shopbop.

I also styled the lace tee in the ivory, and this time I topped it off with a velvet blazer. I love the fit on this blazer; it’s so flattering, and perfect for throwing on top of a cami or tank top for a winter party.

This jacket is fully stocked at Nordstrom, and 25% off but low inventory at Lord & Taylor. For size reference, I’m wearing the small in the blazer and a 6 in the lace tee.

This layered circle necklace adds a touch of bling, and again, I didn’t mean to keep those earrings in. I had brought another pair that I like better with this necklace, but forgot to put them on. D’oh!

With this look, I wore black jeans, and I brought out these sparkly ankle strap sandals. I love how they bring in the ivory from the top and coordinate with the champagne colored bag.

  1. Oh my gosh, I love how you do understated glamour! You look fabulous. The navy top with jeans, pumps and that coat…I am totally swooning over this outfit and want to wear it to so many of my Christmas events.

  2. Honestly not sure which of these I love more! Both are fabulous and absolutely perfect for casual holiday events. Love.
I’m not sure if you plan on doing a fb live this week, but I’m going to throw this question out there anyway. Any ideas on what to wear to a winter college graduation? I have 2 ceremonies to attend (back to back nights), and I only own ONE cold weather dress. Both ceremonies are for my niece (one is for nursing school the other is for the whole graduating class) so I can’t repeat my outfits. Do you think I could get away with black pants/jeans if I dress them up? And I don’t have pumps or any heels -just heeled black otk boots and booties…I’m struggling here! Thanks!

    1. Yes, I’m planning to do the FB Live. I keep forgetting to put it in my Monday emails! I get a lot more participation when I give everyone a day’s notice.

I would totally do black jeans and black OTK boots! 🙂

  3. Love, love both these holiday outfits!! Great picks….especially the textured coat! For sure checking this out. Glad you had a good thanksgiving with family!

  4. Wow!  All stunning looks!  And of course, you make the outfit!  I love that lipstick you’re wearing. I may not comment a lot but you always give me ideas to shop my closet. I like the cream lace top & it jogged my memory that I have one in my summer wardrobe closet.  So that will be moving into my winter wardrobe & I’ll dress it up with a nice cardigan. Thank you yet again for some inspiration!   I’m ready to get full on Christmas when I get home! We’re in Lancaster County hitting some outlets & Amish markets.   Have a great day!

  5. Loving the black lace top. We’re having a holiday open house in a couple of weeks. The dress will be casual, but I still want to look festive and I’m always hot hustling around, so this top is perfect. And I was lying in bed this morning wondering “what will I wear?” which comes right after the “what food will we serve?” I just placed my order for the top and necklace. Thank you, Jo-Lynne!

  6. Good morning from the winter wonderland…
Chicago blizzard here last night! Let the winter
Fun begin! I love both of those looks!
I will try both with my Kate Spade pumps …
Now if we could just rid of the snow!

  7. I love your holiday looks you’ve styled… simple yet elegant and classy:) and oh that coat… love it. That could be worn with just about anything and you’ll look like a million bucks. You put so much work into these deals and sales  for your blog family.  Thank you!😀

  8. I love both looks on you, so glam with the lace and bling! Now that coat {swoon}. It’s 33% off right now but I can’t justify buying another coat right now. I’ll have to keep my eye on it.
