2019 May Favorites

Greetings, friends! I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend, and was able to spend some good quality time with family and friends. It’s time for my May Favorites! This is a collection of new finds and old favorites that I’m particularly loving right now.

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten // eleven // twelve

Most of these will not be new to any of you, but I guess that’s why they’re my favorites… I’m clearly using them a lot at the moment.

2019 May Favorites

Treasure & Bond U-Neck Tank

one // This tank is quickly becoming the first top I grab when I want something easy to throw on with shorts and flip flops for a day at home or running casual errands. It’s such a nice weight and super soft, it has a flattering neckline, and it comes in a great assortment of stripes and solids. I may have just ordered my 3rd. *sheepish grin*

This tank is true to size; I have the small, although I did just order the 3rd in a medium to see if I like a more drapey fit. I’ll report back.

J.Crew Linen roll-cuff T-shirt in Navy with Stella & Dot Kaydree Layering Necklace

two // This is first top I reach for when I want something polished but also still easy to throw on with shorts or pants for errands, appointments, getting together with friends, etc. It comes in 7 colors, and it runs slightly small; I have the medium.

Madewell High Rise Skinny Jeans in Pure White

three // You’ve also seen these skinny jeans several times and heard me sing their praises. They’re a great fit, nice and thick, and super comfortable on. They run true to size; I have the 29. They’ve recently been restocked at Madewell, and they also come in Petite, Tall, and Taller lengths.

Nine West Gianna Cutout Slide Sandals

four // These are my new favorite sandals. I like them almost as much as my Millers, although they’re a little dressier and I tend to wear them with different outfits. They run true to size, or may prefer to size down half if you have flat or narrow feet. They also come in white and yellow.

The Seven Sisters: Book One by Lucinda Riley

five // Clearly not fashion-related, but this book is a great summer beach read so I thought I’d include it. I really enjoyed it, although I have to say, I’m not enjoying the second one quite as much.

I also recently read and enjoyed A Well-Behaved Woman and Finding Georgina, if you’re looking for more recommendations.

six // These Joe’s jean shorts with the 5″ inseam are the ones I reach for when I’m running errands or hanging out with friends — especially when I’m doing a lot of sitting. I still wear my shorter ones around the house, but I like this longer length for when I’m out and about. They’re TTS; I have the 29.

They’re 30% off at Nordstrom and 10% off at Zappo’s. You can also find them at Bloomingdale’s and L+T (not on sale, but more sizes available.)

Leith Ruched Body-Con Tank Dress

seven // I cheated a bit with this dress — I admit, I don’t have it anymore, but I’m loving a similar one that is selling out. Since this Leith body con tank dress is so super popular and also on sale, I thought I’d include it here.

COOLA Rosilliance Mineral BB+ Cream Tinted Organic Sunscreen

eight // Now that summer is approaching, I find myself going back to this tinted BB cream with SPF by my favorite sunscreen brand, Coola. It’s an organic mineral based product, and it gives my face a nice glow that comes close to the tan I get on the rest of my body, plus gives me SPF benefits as well. I don’t tan my face, but I do like to get some sun on my arms and legs, so this helps even it all out.

nine // This top is so cute for church or work with white pants, or you can dress it down for the weekend with bluejeans or denim shorts.

ten // This is quickly becoming my go-to summer cardigan. I daresay I’ve been reaching for it even more than my beloved Splendid thermal cardigan. I like how lightweight it is, and the texture to the knit is really pretty.

I wore this grey one for the photo shoot because it looked better with this off-white tank, but I actually ended up keeping the white. It’s TTS; I have the small. It’s also 20% off with code SUMMER.

eleven // These are a little spendy, but they’re such a cute summer shoe and so incredibly lightweight and comfortable on the foot. They come in 5 colors, and I recommend sizing up half.

twelve // This necklace is a really pretty piece, and I like that the pendants are slightly larger than most of the others I have. The shell imprints are really fun for summer, and you can take it apart and wear them separately if you desire. It’s also adjustable, so you can get the perfect length.

  1. Hi JoLynne—have you washed the linen top yet?  Even though I line dry, I’ve had trouble with linen shrinking.
Those Eileen Fisher espadrilles are cute.  Do they have much arch support?

    1. I have not washed it yet, but it’s due. I’ve worn it a few times. I usually don’t wash things until they look dirty or stretched out. I know what you mean with linen, but I generally find J.Crew to be good quality — better than Loft, for example, when it comes to things washing well. I will wash on cold and lay flat to dry.

  2. Love those Nine West flats but was hoping Macy’s would have them on sale of the weekend but they were not included in the sale so I’m going to wait a few more weeks. Plus I had already ordered 3 pairs of sandals this month. I’m sorry you were feeling bad yesterday and I also suffered from a rough monthly cycle but it’s all finally over for me but now my daughter is going through the same. Two different doctors have told that she does not need to have a monthly cycle and she can continue to take her pills and only have it every other month or even less so she doesn’t have to suffer. Have you ever been told this? I am old school and think it’s important to allow our bodies to go through the cycle but she is lives in a new age and when not one but too doctors told her it’s okay Skip, well that overrode my opinion.

    1. Yeah, I’m surprised those flats weren’t on sale anywhere over the weekend too! They were briefly a few weeks ago, so keep watching.

I don’t take birth control pills, never have except for a few months when I got married. I hated them, and I’ve never used them since. So yeah, I just suffer through. I’m almost 47. I keep thinking it will slow down soon, but not yet! 🙂

  3. What would we do without white Jean’s in the summer. Love them soooooo much. Another hot one here. 101 in Savannah. Staying in.

  4. You have some great favorites!  I really like the long cardigan.  I hope you have a great day!

  5. I’d love to find an alternative to white jeans. Don’t get me wrong, I  ❤️ LOVE my white jeans and I wear them weekly, but I’d love a pair of cute, lightweight white pants for summer. The only ones I’ve found online are the paper bag tie waist or wide leg cropped. Have you seen any?
About 5 years ago I had the cutest pair of white pants for summer that I got at banana republic. They had cute pockets on the rear (when back pockets where super popular) and I wore them with sandals and tanks or sleeves blouses for a night out at the beach and I could dress them up or down.
Hang in there with those horrible cycles! I too went through that in my mid to late 40s. It WILL get better. Just as I was considering having the ablation procedure, things changed and I no longer needed it. 😊

  6. Hi Jo-Lynne! I just ordered the Nine West slide sandals in tan – hope I like them as much as you do! I have a little wider foot so hoping they will form to my feet! Thanks for all the great tips and fashion advice! Have a great week!
