A Neutral Fall Outfit with White Jeans | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

It’s the last day of September, and we are wrapping up 22 Days of Fall Fashion! For this last post in the series, I’m styling a neutral fall outfit with white jeans.

I actually wore this outfit all day yesterday. Paul took these pictures before I left the house for my dental appointment.

I don’t know what it is about neutrals this fall, but I’ve been feeling particularly drawn to them lately. There’s something about neutral tones that I find soothing, but also sophisticated and refined.

This v-neck slub sweater comes in red, blue, or tan with white stripes; and it runs true to size. I have the small. It fits close to the body, and the cotton/linen blend is lightweight and perfect for layering.

I really like the reverse-jersey striping and solid ribbed trim, plus the wide v-neckline is flattering yet modest.

For today’s post, I styled this sweater with white jeans and taupe suede mules.

I almost wore booties, and they would look great with this as well, but I’ve done booties a lot lately, and the mules keep it practical for everyday errands and things.

To add warmth and interest to the outfit, I wore my denim jacket. This medium denim wash is a nice complement to the white and tan in the outfit.

I almost always cuff the sleeves on this jacket. It’s generally more flattering to push up your sleeves, and it adds an extra style factor. Plus, it allows your bracelets to show!

Speaking of which, I wore my favorite Victoria Emerson bracelet — the Alicante boho cuff. I have quite a few of her bracelets, but this is the one I reach for the most. It has such a nice combination of gold and silver tones, and I love the mix of beads and coins.

This casual outfit is perfect for appointments and errands or working from home. I removed my jacket when I was at home, but I was really glad I had it at the dental office. They keep it really cold in there.

It’s also an effortless look for dining out. Since most of us are opting to eat outside these days, layers are going to be key for keeping us comfortable as the weather cools down.

Coral Pullover with Snake Print Booties | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

Happy Tuesday, we’re in the home stretch! It’s day 21 of 22 Days of Fall Fashion, and I’m styling a casual pullover with jeans and booties.

As you probably know by now, this is my fall uniform of choice, but just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it has to be boring. I incorporated a mix of patterns and textures for interest, and of course fit and proportion are key to a polished appearance, no matter how basic the outfit may be.

This sweater is cozy and soft, with almost a nubby texture. I love this faded coral color, but it also comes in a few other solids as well as some color block patterns.

I would say it is showing a little more pink in these photos than it is in real life, but I don’t think it has warm undertones… it’s hard to say. I feel like it would be flattering on women with warm or cool coloring.

It’s cut slightly longer in the back than the front, and the silhouette is relaxed without being sloppy. I appreciate that the sleeves are nice and long, and the subtle scoop neck and raglan sleeves are flattering as well.

The material is a nylon/acrylic/wool/spandex blend, and it runs true to size. I’m wearing my usual small.

While this coral color looks great with all shades of bluejeans, I also like how it pairs with these off-black jeans. The faded black is more casual than a pure black wash, and they seem to go with everything.

These are the Good American Good Legs that I’ve been wearing so much lately. They were an #NSale find, and I love the fit. They have an 11″ rise, so I prefer to wear them with tops that I leave untucked because they keep everything nice and smooth underneath.

Because the outfit is so simple, I added snake print booties for pattern and texture. They even have a hint of pink in the print that ties in nicely with the sweater.

These are from last season, but I did find a few sizes on Amazon. I love these booties. They are so comfortable.

I chose not to wear a necklace, and went with a pair of smaller geometric hoop earrings instead. These days I’m liking the simplicity of a plain neckline. I think I did the long pendant necklace so much in the past few years that it’s beginning to look dated to me.

Another option would be to layer a few shorter delicate necklaces, but I just didn’t feel like this outfit needed it.

It’s a simple look, but the cozy knit offers a nice contrast to the off-black denim, the snake print booties bring some pattern and added texture to the look, and even the quilted leather bag adds another element of interest.

As we head into fall and the weather starts to cool down, this is the type of outfit I’ll be wearing for outdoor dining with the family and backyard get-togethers with friends. I can add a lightweight jacket when it gets chilly, and even a thin base layer for extra warmth if I need it.

coral sweater // black jeans (similar for less) // exact boots (option) // similar crossbody // earrings // sunnies

A Fun Way to Wear Fashion Sneakers for Fall

Hello, Monday! It’s hard to believe, but we’re wrapping up 22 Days of Fall Fashion this week and bidding adieu to September. It’s kind of amazing how fast this year has gone, considering everything it’s thrown at us, but I’ll take it.

I’ve had a lot of requests for outfits with fashion sneakers, so I styled my favorite P448s with a drapey moto jacket and jeans for a dressed-up casual look that will take you from the carpool line to a casual dinner out with ease.

I picked up this faux suede drape front moto jacket on sale last spring, but I didn’t get a chance to wear it so I’m excited to bring it out again for fall!

This jacket is on the thinner side, and it’s unlined, but it’s amazing how much warmth it adds. It’s super soft and comfortable — the perfect chic, light layer for a fall day.

My t-shirt is the Banana Republic slub cotton-modal scoop-neck tee that I often wear when I want to layer over a white tee. The neckline is so flattering, and the slub cotton-modal fabric has just enough texture to give you that cool factor without being see-through.

For size reference, I have a medium in both the t-shirt and the jacket.

To keep the look casual and on-trend, I wore a lighter wash denim with some subtle distressing. These are the Kut from the Kloth Donna skinnies with the button-front that I’ve styled a few times. They wear in well and are comfortable all day long.

They have such a flattering fit, and the  27.5″ inseam is the perfect ankle-length on my 5’5″ frame.

Notice how there’s an inch or so of my ankle exposed between the hem of the jeans and the sneakers — that’s more slimming and looks less sloppy than when your jeans touch the top of the shoe.

While it was my first inclination to wear ankle boots with this outfit, I love the style these P448 sneakers add to this look.

They’re spendy, but the quality and comfort and unique details warrant the price tag, and they do go on sale from time to time.

I love the snake print accent and the black tab on the heel. They grey laces are a nice detail as well — not as stark as black, but not as plain as white.

Of course, you could substitute your favorite fashion sneakers and recreate this look on a budget. Steve Madden has lots of good options — like these and these.

And look at all of these fun Vintage Havanias at Macy’s. Also, these Tretorns are under $100, and I really like my J.Crew Saturday sneakers.

I wore one of my Victoria Emerson wrap bracelets to add some texture and shine to the look, and I added a pair of silvertone hammered hoops.

Unfortunately these exact pieces are sold out, but hopefully this gives you some ideas for shopping your closet.

And to show you a different spin on this outfit, here it is with grey suede ankle boots. This time, I’m wearing the Milan boho cuff.

As you can see, this version is a bit more sophisticated, but still casual and comfortable. Either works, it just depends on where you’re going and the look you’re after.

Coffee Talk 09.27.20

Some mornings I sit down to write this post, and the words just flow. Other mornings, I’m unsure where to start. This is one of those mornings.

It’s not that nothing has happened this week. In fact, it was one of the busiest I’ve had in a long time, but I can’t remember much of it. Does that happen to you?

I looked back at my calendar to see why I feel that way, and I realized it was just the combination of a bunch of work commitments, as well as a lot of appointments that kept me out of the house, and in addition to all that, the memorial service on Friday.

The service was very small, mostly family and a few close friends, and it was good to finally get closure after all these months, but strange to be wearing masks at a funeral. It was a relief to get to the luncheon afterwards, where we could talk a little more normally. Fortunately the weather was nice, and we were able to dine outside.

Yesterday was dreary, and I actually took a 2-hour nap in the afternoon. That was lovely, and much needed.

We went out to dinner again last night, and it did rain at one point, but we were under a big tent. It’s amazing what restaurants are able to do to make outdoor dining comfortable in inclement weather. There were also big heat lamps set around, which we didn’t need, but I guess it’s a sign of what’s to come.

This week should be a lot less hectic, although I get to go back to the dentist for fillings, and I have a couple of chiropractor appointments. Hopefully they will be my last for a while; my neck feels 99% better. He does active release, which has proved to be very effective, at least for whatever ails my neck.

And I finally graduated from PT, so that will give me some time back in my week.

I’ve decided that I much prefer the chiropractor to the physical therapy because it’s such a quick appointment. He works his magic, and I’m in and out in 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the place I’m going is almost 30 minutes away, so it still takes a chunk of time out of my day.

I’m trying to do my run/walking more consistently, and that feels good. I want to start doing that 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene again too. (It’s on YouTube, if you’re wondering.)

Maybe I’ll start that today since it’s so humid and gloomy outside. It’s not raining, but it’s just heavy out there.

We don’t have any plans after church today, so that will be nice. I guess I need to start thinking about what I’m going to post, now that we are wrapping up 22 Days of Fall Fashion!

After we wrap up these style series, it always takes me a few days to get my sea legs under me again, so to speak. As always, I’m open to ideas.

What are you all looking for this fall? More cozy, at-home looks, or are you getting out and about some? Do you have some events on your calendar? And of course, we’re headed into gift guide season.

I wonder what the holidays will look like this year.

We’ve been talking about what to do for our kids’ birthdays, which are coming up fast. R turns 15 in October, D turns 21 in November, and C turns 18 in December!

It’s a big year, but I’m not sure what we can actually do for them. Maybe we should invest in some of those heat lamps for our deck.

Anyway, I need to get off here and get ready for church.

Sorry for the randomness today… although I guess most of these Coffee Talk posts are pretty random. That’s sort of the point. Today just really feels all over the place, for some reason. At least, that’s how I’m feeling.

I hope you’re having a good weekend, and that you’re able to escape a bit from whatever may be causing you stress or anxiety today. There’s a lot of that going around.

Be good to yourself and to those around you, and take some time for you, if you can.

Bringing Yoga Back: Athleta Fall Faves

You may remember, I discovered yoga during our lockdown last March, when I was unable to run and needed a safe activity to do from home. I loved it at first, but it eventually began to aggravate my injuries so I had to stop for a time.

Well, I’m happy to report that I’ve graduated from PT! The lower back and hip issues that have been plaguing me since last winter are under finally control, and I’m able to return to my favorite activities.

I’ve been slowly increasing my run/walk intervals, and I’m excited to start doing yoga again. I miss the flexibility it cultivated, as well as the relaxation and escape from the daily grind, and I’m eager to get back to it.

As it turns out, this is perfect timing, as September is National Yoga Month!

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten

Of course, no one has a better selection of yoga clothes and loungewear than Athleta, so it was a no-brainer when they reached out and asked if I wanted to work together on this post.

I had fun rounding up my personal wish list along with some of my favorite Athleta pieces for yoga… or any at-home workout, really. Hopefully this post gives you a little workout inspiration… online shopping is a workout, right?

Athleta Fall Favorites

#1. Made to Move Mask 3 Pack // It’s 2020, after all, so I had to include these face masks. I have heard SUCH good things about them. Supposedly they’re some of the most comfortable and breathable you can find, and they’re adjustable too.

#2 Exhale Moonflower Jacquard Bra // I love the idea of a pretty sports bra peeking out of a boatneck, or a split-back top.

#3. Flow Top Essence Spacedye // This lightweight pullover is super soft, and the boatneck is flattering and also fun for showing off a pretty sports bra (see #2.)

#4 Salutation Stash Pocket II Embossed Tight // This Medusa Enchanted Blue is a nice alternative to black, and these pair perfectly with the Conscious Embossed Crop, although I’m more likely to pair them with something like the Essence Flow Top or Essence Spacedye Tie Back Tank.

#5. Conscious Embossed Crop // I love how this top pairs with the tights in #4. A crop silhouette keeps you cool and comfortable during hard workouts, and this fabric claims to be buttery soft.

#6. Salutation Stash Pocket II Cinch 7/8 Tights // These tights take your basic black leggings up a notch with a feminine cinch detail at the hem.

#7. Mindset Sweatshirt // This easy pullover is perfect for yoga practice or your WFH life. It’s made of Athleta’s softest fabric, appropriately named Nirvana. Bonus, the tulip-edged side hem flatters your form.

#8. Printed Mesh Racer Run Short // And because once a runner, always a runner, I also picked out these running shorts in the black camo luxe — such a fun change from the solids I normally wear.

#9. Essence Spacedye Tie Back Tank // This eco-friendly tank top is made of recycled materials and has a tie back for adjustability.

#10. Studio to Street Print Sweatshirt // I love this stylish sweatshirt for throwing on over a tank after practice. It pairs perfectly with the navy Ultimate Stash Pocket Tights.

NOT PICTURED:

Delancey Herringbone Tights // I realized recently that all of my yoga pants are black, and I’m really drawn to this Light Asphalt color. Plus the herringbone pattern is fun and different.

Essence Flow Top // This is the solid version of the spacedye above. I love that Spring Night — so chic.

Momentum Heather Tank // This seamless tank with anti-odor technology is the perfect pairing for the racer run shorts (see #8).

Solstice Wrap // It wouldn’t be a complete wish list without a good wrap. I love the rib stitching and drapey style of this one, and it comes in 3 gorgeous neutrals.

What I Wore Lately Vol. 27

Good morning, and happy Saturday! It’s a gloomy one here, but it’s kind of nice, in a way. We need the rain, and it’s a comforting sound when you don’t have anywhere to go.

I just brewed my 2nd cup of coffee, and I’m finally sitting down to put this post together, so it’s going up a little later than usual.

Today I’m sharing my daily outfits from the last week, and don’t miss my Athleta Fall Favorites post that also went up this morning.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds-ish, with a slight hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.

What I Wore Lately

This first look is from last Saturday, when Paul and I took R into Philadelphia for a day of sightseeing. We left early to get to Independence Hall as soon as it opened, and it was fuh-reezing!

I wore a cashmere sweater with a leather jacket and jeans, and I was still uncomfortably cold until about noon. That said, it was fun to finally break out a few of my Nordstrom Anni Sale purchases that I hadn’t worn yet!

cashmere v-neck (size S) // hooded moto (sold out; options here and here) // AG Farrah skinnies (similar for less) // Vince Blair slip-ons (there are more sizes in this year’s version) // Lagos necklace and earrings // Gucci sunnies (similar for less) // Gucci crossbody (option / option)

The next day was Sunday, of course, and this is what I wore to church. It was still rather chilly, but promised to be a bit warmer than Saturday.

You can’t go wrong with a column of black and a bold jacket, but unfortunately, this color has sold out. Because it was a plain outfit, I added a layer necklace.

My one caveat — I’m not crazy about these mules with this. I should have thrown on some pumps. Our church is very casual, so I was trying to keep it from being too much, but I’m afraid these shoes detract from this outfit. They’re too masculine or something. If I wanted to wear flats, a pointed toe ballet flat would have been a better choice.

Also, my Tory Burch tote is on sale in the Grey Heron and Devon Sand, and the pebbled leather version is on sale in the black. I actually think I like the pebbled leather version better than mine — it’s a little more practical for everyday use.

Caslon knit jacket // Ann Taylor woven tank (60% off with LOOKGOOD) // AG Farrah skinnies (similar for less) // old Rebecca Minkoff mules (similar) // Tory Burch tote (pebbled leather version) // Luv Aj layered necklace

Later that afternoon, I visited with a friend over a glass of wine, so I changed into a t-shirt and jeans. It obviously warmed up, as I’m wearing short sleeves and sandals.

My camo tee is sold out, but there are some good substitutes at Banana, Splendid, and Athleta. And I really like this v-neck version from Lucky Brand — particularly the grey multi.

Free People Camo tee (sold out; options here, here, here, and here) // Paige Cindy straight leg jeans // Tory Burch Miller sandals

I’m clearly on a camo kick lately… I wore this outfit to a dentist appointment and to work from home on Monday.

Sanctuary is running a 30% off sitewide sale with code FRIENDS30, so this camo pullover is 30% off today!

Also, the camo cardi I styled earlier this month is still stocked in a few sizes, and here’s a longer version some of you might like. And the Alma linen tee is included. My Dusk color is almost sold out, but I love the Fatique for fall too.

I just picked up this bag from Everlane, and I think it’s so cool. True confessions: I returned the Coach courier bag from the #NSale. I really tried to love it, but it was just so bulky.

While I typically carry a crossbody these days, I wanted something in between that and a big tote, and this is perfect. I like how it’s understated and chic and a little bit different.

It has a wide bottom that’s substantial enough to hold its shape, but it isn’t stiff either. It has some give to it, unlike the Coach bag, so it’s more comfortable to carry and less bulky.

Sanctuary camo pullover (30% off) // Good American Good Legs skinnies // Everlane Day Loafer Mule (40% off) // Everlane The Studio Bag

That brings us to Tuesday, and I had my last PT appointment for a while (I hope!) I dressed up my Lululemon joggers with a tie dye tee and denim jacket.

FYI, I have a medium in this tee, and the joggers are a 6.

Vince Camuto denim jacket // BR tie dye tee // Lululemon Align joggers // P448 sneaks // Lagos earrings

Aaaand, it’s back to camo, LOL! This time, I wore this tee with skinnies. I was mostly at home on Wednesday, but I did wear this to the chiropractor.

He has really helped my neck, so I don’t think I’ll need many more visits. Without PT and chiro visits, I don’t know what I’ll do with all my free time!

Free People Camo tee (sold out; options here, here, here, and here) // rag & bone Cate skinnies (similar for less) // Marc Fisher sandals // Lagos earrings and bracelets

And the next day, I had a facial appointment, so I didn’t bother to put on makeup. I like to let my skin breathe after a facial and absorb all the products they used.

Caslon tee (restocked!!) // rag & bone Dre slim boyfriend jeans (size down) // Tory Burch Emmy sandals // similar earrings // Maui Jim Mele sunglasses

Yesterday was my father-in-law’s memorial service, so I wore this simple black dress and black pumps.

This dress is 60% off right now, and it is made so well. The lining is sewn in perfectly, and it has such nice seaming for a flattering fit. Highly recommend if you need a classic LBD to add to your closet.

There was a short graveside service afterwards, and we were walking on grass so I was glad I wore a chunky heel. Plus, it was a long day, with lunch afterwards, and my feet held up great in these shoes.

I’ve had them since last winter, and at first they were a bit stiff, but now that they’re broken in, I’m able to wear them comfortably all day.

I added some gold jewelry — all fairly delicate pieces that I hoped would enhance the look, not overpower it. This is not a time for statement jewelry.

And I brought this cardigan along because I was afraid I’d be chilly, but I didn’t need it. I don’t love how it looks with this dress — it makes me look about 10 pounds heavier, but it would have worked in a pinch.

Ann Taylor The Scoop Neck Dress (60% off with LOOKGOOD)  // Marc Fisher Zala Pumps (also at Nordstrom) // Kendra Scott earrings and necklace // Stella & Dot bracelet // LOFT cardigan ($19.88 + extra 50% off with FALLFAVE)

And that’s a wrap! I’ll be going back to posting these posts on Wednesdays in October, once 22 Days of Fall Fashion is over, and my Try-On Hauls will return to Saturdays.

I do have a few new try-ons to share, but I haven’t uploaded those pictures yet, and I’m already late publishing this post, so I’ll hold onto them till next week unless I find something on a really good sale.

In that case, I’ll share in my Facebook Group. I often share previews of my Try-On Hauls and other fun finds in the FB group, plus sale alerts and restocks, and things like that. If you’re not already a member, we’d love to have you!!! Just be sure to answer the membership questions and agree to the group rules before requesting to join.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Effortless Fall Style: Stripe Cotton Piqué Pullover

Happy Friday, friends! I’m definitely going to be ready for that glass of wine tonight. It’s been a crazy week, both work-related and otherwise.

I have another fall outfit to share with you today, featuring this stripe cotton piqué pullover.

This sweater immediately caught my eye when I was perusing the Nordstrom website. I love the combination of colors — it’s fall-ish without being too literal.

I’m also happy to inform you that this sweater is 100% cotton. I know a lot of you can’t wear wool or cashmere, so cotton is the next best thing in a natural fabric.

The piqué stitching adds such a nice texture to a casual look, and I also appreciate the wide v-neck and the ribbed cuffs and hem.

It has a generous sleeve length, and overall a longer length with a relaxed fit that makes it so nice for casual days when you want to look put-together but not fussy.

This sweater definitely runs a bit big. I’m wearing my usual small, but you could certainly size down if you wanted a closer fit.

I paired this pullover sweater with light wash jeans because I like the low contrast between the background of the sweater and the denim.

Luckily, I was able to snag these jeans when they went on major markdown on the rag & bone website, but they’re low inventory now and not as low-priced as when I purchased them. They are well-stocked at Nordstrom, but unfortunately, at full price.

Any light wash jeans will work though, and I actually think this sweater will look nice with darker washes as well. These colors will look great with almost any denim wash.

I added a pair of suede ankle boots that are very close in color to the background of the sweater, but I might not wear boots in this shade if my jeans were darker. I’d probably go with a darker taupe.

I like the low contrast of the light denim and light beige boots, but it would really look stark and chop up the line of the leg if the jeans were dark and the top and boots were light.

Because these booties have a higher shaft, I cuffed the jeans so they just meet the top of the boot. And yes, this makes the leg line look even shorter. This only works because the sweater/jeans/boots are all light and low-contrast.

Whew! That was a lot of info for an outfit comprised of three pieces of clothing.

And funny, I didn’t necessarily think all this through when putting the outfit together. I just found it pleasing to the eye, and as I analyze these pictures, I see why it works… or at least why I like it.

Finally, I kept my jewelry minimal so the sweater gets the limelight, and the taupe tote coordinates without being matchy-matchy.

Leopard Print Cardigan Outfit | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

Sweater weather is officially here in Philly, and this leopard print cardigan is the perfect way to usher in the season!

It reminds me a lot of the Barefoot Dreams leopard cardigan that sold out so fast during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but for a fraction of the price.

Budget-Friendly Leopard Cardigan from Amazon Fashion

Whereas the Barefoot Dreams cardigan is more appropriate for loungewear, this one from Amazon is one I would wear out and about.

It’s soft and stretchy, and fairly thick, and I like the length. It’s not as long as some, but it comes down well past the hips and covers the bum if you want to wear it with a longer tee and leggings. It’s true to size; I’m wearing the small.

I styled this leopard cardigan for a casual, everyday look with a white tee, blue jeans, and ankle boots.

Leopard Print Cardigan Outfit

These jeans are the rag & bone Nina from the #NSale, so I got them at a considerable discount. They’re fully stocked, but back to full price for the time being.

I’ve styled them a few times, and I really like the wash and the fit, but the 11″ front rise is definitely too high for me to tuck into. All I see in these pictures is my mid-life paunch.

In fact, I almost ditched the whole batch, but then I figured it’s a teaching moment, so here we are. Not only does the higher rise with the front-tuck emphasize my belly, it throws off my proportions.

Leopard Print Cardigan Outfit for Women Over 40

This tee is rather shapeless, if left un-tucked, so a better solution would be jeans with a lower rise. I much prefer the rag & bone Cate for tucking.

FYI, this pair is 30% off, and the wash looks very similar. I’m not sure what’s up with the measurements, though. Those are not typical for the rag & bone Cate. They usually have a 9″ or 10″ rise, not 8″, but with Nordstrom’s generous return policy, they’re worth a try!

Also, note the inseam is 26″, which is typically more of a cropped fit — but that depends on your height, of course.

My booties are from last season and have sold out, but I linked them for anyone who wants to see the exact details. You may be able to find them on a resale site.

I love the Western details, and the light grey is the perfect pairing for this sweater.

rag & bone Ramone Western Booties

I’m carrying my Rebecca Minkoff Love crossbody once again. Oh, how I wish this color weren’t sold out! It is so versatile, I feel like I want to carry it with every other outfit in this series.

There are other colors/sizes available, but not this exact combo. This is the geo quilted Love crossbody (the regular size) in mushroom color, for anyone checking resale sites.

Budget-Friendly Leopard Cardigan from Amazon

Also, this is my favorite white tee for layering, and it’s 40% off today! I recommend sizing up in these; I have the medium.

I kept my accessories simple with a star necklace and hoop earrings. I’ve been asked a few times about how I choose my accessories.

This look is casual, and there’s a lot going on with the printed sweater so I didn’t want anything too big and attention-grabbing. Sometimes I wear a statement piece and a smaller supporting piece, but this this time I just went for two smaller pieces that complement each other.

I love this easy, casual leopard print cardigan outfit for daily errands or working from home. (I would swap the booties for flats or slippers when at home.) My only caveat is, I wish I’d worn mid-rise jeans.

Fall Skincare Routine with Colleen Rothschild Beauty

The weather is already turning here in Philly, and it has me thinking about updating my skincare routine for the cold days ahead.

My skin tends to be very dry in the fall and winter, and I also have a lot of redness and discoloration that tends to flare up in the cold. In addition to all that, I’m closing in on the big FIVE-OH, so I need products that not only moisturize and sooth my dry/sensitive skin, but also help fight the signs of aging.

I’m a big fan of Colleen Rothschild Beauty products, and I’ve used them off and on for years, so this fall I decided to return to a skincare regimen that I already know works well for me.

I ordered some of my old favorites, but I also wanted to try out a few of their newer offerings — like the CBD Face Oil I’ve been hearing so much about.

This product is… interesting! For one thing, it smells like hemp, which I suppose is to be expected. But the scent does dissipate quickly, and the results are worth it.

It’s formulated with 300mg of Broad Spectrum Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil, Hemp Seed oil, and Tiger Grass extract to help calm the look of redness and nourish sensitive skin.

I’ve been using it in the mornings, before my sunscreen, to moisturize my skin and help calm down some of the redness before applying makeup.

I also ordered the Face Oil N°9 and Radiant Cleansing Balm, two of my longtime Colleen Rothschild favorites.

The Radiant Cleansing Balm smells absolutely delicious — it’s like having a facial at home.

I sometimes use it in the morning, but I always use it at night because it removes all traces of dirt and makeup. It’s even gentle enough to remove your eye makeup.

You apply it to dry skin, and then gently massage it into your face. It starts to get all warm and melty, and it dissolves all of your makeup as well as dirt and debris from the day.

It comes with a muslin cloth, which you wet in warm water, and then lay it over your face.

I like to hold it there for a minute, and breathe in the scent of the product. It’s heavenly! Then you gently wipe off all the cleanser and makeup, etc.

You’re left with skin that is smooth and clean and radiant, and it never feels tight or dry.

I often follow up with the Matcha Tea Treatment Toner, which is pictured in the graphic at the top of the post. It’s delightfully soothing as well, and it helps take down redness and minimizes the look of pores.

Once or twice a week, I use the Micro-Mineral Resurfacing Scrub to unclog my pores and smooth out my skin. I can tell when I haven’t used this in a few days, because my skin starts to feel rough to the touch.

The Face Oil N°9 has long been a wintertime go-to for when my skin is dry and flaky. I even have my 17-year-old daughter using it because she couldn’t find anything else to get rid of her flaky dry skin.

This product combines oils and vitamins that helps reduce the appearance of spots and wrinkles, and it also improves the skin’s moisture barrier for enhanced cellular function and hydration.

Best of all, it leaves no greasy residue. I try to wait about 20 minutes before going to bed, though, so it has time to really sink into my skin and doesn’t come off on my pillow.

And this fall, I decided to add the Extreme Recovery Cream to add to my evening skincare routine.

This product is exactly what it sounds like — a thick, creamy moisturizing cream designed to fight signs of fine lines and wrinkles while evening out skin tone and texture.

I’ve been applying the Extreme Recovery Cream before the Face Oil N°9, as suggested in the PM Routine — one of Colleen Rothschild’s value packs.

If you’re new to Colleen Rothschild products, the PM Routine is a great place to start.

And when you’re updating your fall skincare routine, don’t forget your hands!

While I was placing my order, I made sure to restock my Restorative Hand Cream.

This product isn’t greasy at all. It just sinks into the skin and soothes dry, chapped, cracked hands, leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft.

It also makes a nice gift for a woman in your life… maybe your child’s teacher, or someone who has been a bright spot in your life during this stressful time.

If you’re looking for a new skincare routine, this is a great time to give Colleen Rothschild Beauty products a try because her Birthday Sale launches today, and you can save 25% off your order with code BDAY25!

It’s a good thing I started thinking ahead, because it looks like we are going to get an early fall this year. My skin has already started feeling the effects of the chilly weather we had over the weekend, so I’m really glad I’m getting ahead of it before I start getting flaky and dry.

An All Black Outfit for Fall

Greetings, and welcome back to 22 Days of Fall Fashion! I wanted to style an all black outfit for fall as part of this series, and this is what I came up with.

It’s definitely more of an edgy look, but I tried to keep it casual with a t-shirt and snake print mules.

This hooded leather moto jacket was an #NSale purchase, and I’m really impressed with the quality and fit. I was hoping might get restocked eventually, but alas. No such luck.

If you like it, keep an eye on it, because I have seen a few random sizes pop up as they process returns. It runs true to size; I’m wearing the small.

Any black leather or faux leather jacket would work with this look, but I do really like how the knit hood gives the edgy jacket a more casual, sporty vibe. Plus, I love how you get that cool layered look without the bulk.

To keep the look casual and comfortable for daily wear, I wore a ribbed t-shirt and faded black jeans. These are the Good American Good Legs high waist crop skinnies, also from the #NSale.

Happily, they’ve been fully stocked, but currently are full-price. I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep these or not, but recently, I’ve found myself reaching for them a few times, and I’m so happy I decided to give them a try.

They felt really tight through the legs at first, but once I wore them for a few hours, they loosened up just enough to be comfortable, but they don’t slide down at all. I wore them all day on Monday, and they stay put and feel really nice all day long.

This t-shirt is the Everlane micro-rib cap sleeve tee. I’ve worn it a lot this summer on its own, but it makes a particularly good layering piece for fall because of the body-con styling.

I always feel like a fitted top is more flattering under a jacket or cardigan than one that blouses out and adds extra volume in the mid-section.

This one is super soft and stretchy, and it has a flattering open neckline. I recommend sizing up, though. I have the medium.

There are so many footwear options for this outfit, but I decided on these snake print mules for two reasons.

For one, they keep it casual, since we aren’t going anywhere that requires dressing up these days. I would wear this to meet a friend for lunch, or to run to the mall, or even for general errands if I felt like being super chic at the grocery store. Ha!

But I also really like how they give a nod to the season. The rust and brown tones look very fall, while also adding some color and texture to the otherwise monochromatic outfit.

I carried a black bag to keep the monochromatic look cohesive, and beyond that, I only added one accessory. I felt like this look needed a statement piece, and I like the clean look of the outfit without a necklace, so I went for bold earrings.

These gold metal feather and chain drop earrings are lightweight, but they pack a punch. I love how they elevate the look, although I would be more likely to wear these out in the evening than for my daily errands. Any big earring would work with this, though.

What do you think? Would you wear it?

Tweed Moto Jacket Outfit | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

Greetings, and happy First Day of Fall! I’m excited to partner with Ann Taylor today to style a tweed moto jacket outfit.

You know, I was thinking about it the other day, and I realized I’ve been shopping at Ann Taylor since I was in college! It’s a store I can always depend on for a sophisticated, yet feminine approach to modern essentials, and this taupe tweed moto jacket is case in point.

I love how they took the edgy appeal of a moto jacket and refined it with a luxe tweed and shiny silver hardware. It almost reads as a blazer, but with an off-duty weekend vibe.

And as with all Ann Taylor pieces, the fit and quality is on point. It has such good tailoring and attention to detail, and I love the seaming details in the back — so flattering.

Plus, it’s soft and comfortable to wear, and best of all, it’s machine washable! This jacket runs true to size; I have the small.

While this jacket can certainly be worn with dress pants for the office, many women are working from home right now, so I styled it with these sculpting pocket mid rise skinny jeans. This is the perfect way to look professional for teleconferences and still be comfortable at home all day.

These jeans have a 10 3/8″ rise with 27 1/2″ inseam, as well as front pockets especially designed to smooth and flatter. They run true to size; I have the 6.

I also really like this elbow sleeve turtleneck for this transition season. It can be worn alone or layered, and it has such a chic, sophisticated look about it.

The material is soft and stretchy, and it’s a nice fine gauge knit that isn’t see-through. This sweater is 24″ long, and it also runs true to size.

Of course, no outfit is complete without a few well-chosen accessories.

These square circle earrings in the polished silver make a bold statement with overwhelming the look, and I also added a long nugget pendant necklace. FYI, all Ann Taylor jewelry is buy 3+ save 40%, buy 2 save 30%!

I love how this tweed moto jacket outfit came together for an effortless fall look that is casual but refined with a bit of an edge.

It’s perfect for working from home when you’re going to be on conference calls, or it’s also an outfit I might wear for outside dining on mild fall days.

Also, it doesn’t apply to any of these pieces, but Ann Taylor is running a First Day of Fall 24-Hour Flash Sale on non-full price items: $15 tops, $18 skirts, $20 sweaters, and $35 dresses!

There are some really good deals on late summer/early fall styles, so it’s definitely worth a look to see what’s available.

Victoria Emerson Flash Sale: Save Up to 45% Off!

My favorite bracelets are on sale again, and you know what that means… time for a fashion show!

I know a lot of you are huge Victoria Emerson fans as well, so I wanted to let you know you can save up to 45% off site-wide on all of her latest pieces.

How she keeps coming out with new styles and color combinations, I’ll never know, but she has such a great variety right now.

This Milan boho cuff is gorgeous, I love the combination of sparkling crystals, shimmering coins and silvery details.

It has a genuine white gold plated magnetic clasp with engraved logo that is easy to pop on and off, and it gives you the popular layered look without any of the guesswork.

And this Silver Dorado on Ivory five wrap bracelet is another gorgeous play on light neutrals, with a mix of clear, white opal, silver dorado, and smoked crystals.

I recently added this Midnight Mist five wrap to my collection. It’s so shimmery and pretty with other neutral tones, like this camel sweater I styled last week.

I think my favorite new addition is this Emerald Cut Grey Dorado on Grey, but evidently it was everyone’s favorite because it’s currently sold out. Hopefully they will restock because the emerald cut stones are fun and different.

The Emerald Cut Silver Dorado on White is similar, and in stock, if you like this look.

One of my old favorites that are still in stock is this Alicante Boho Cuff. I love the mix of silvery beads and coins, pale crystals, and metallic chains. I probably wear this at least once a week.

I also love the original Mendoza with its mix of grey and silver tones.

And the Marbella is really good too. I think the Pavé crystal beads on weaved cord adds such a nice element of interest to her bracelets.

And this Mendoza white and gold wrap is another old favorite that is still in stock. Look how gorgeous it looks with a rust colored sweater for fall.

By the way, all of her boho cuffs have a magnetic clasp that is easy to engage, and it’s very strong — in fact, sometimes I have to work a bit to get it off, but that’s okay because it means it’s secure.

(It really isn’t hard to get off; you just have to kind of twist it, pushing down on the one side so it can release. Once you get the hang of it, it’s NBD.)

And don’t forget about the Kalamazoo boho cuff from this outfit. I love the combination of white and gold; it has an elegant, upscale vibe that I really like.

If you prefer to make a smaller statement, this Champagne Emerald Cut Crystals with African Turquoise is a nice piece. It pairs nicely with the Double wrap on Tan Leather.

And this Tavira mini boho bracelet has such a pretty pastel color palette. I layered it with one of her wrap bracelets for even more bling.

Finally, this double wrap bracelet on safari textured leather is a fun way to add animal print to your look in an understated way.

Hopefully this gives you some shopping inspiration, if you’re in need of a few new accessories… or just some gold old-fashioned retail therapy!

I mean, who couldn’t use some retail therapy right about now?

And with up to 45% off, you can easily upgrade your casual, everyday looks without breaking the bank.
