25 Days of Winter Outfits: Stripes & Leggings

Welcome back to my 25 Days of Winter Fashion with Cyndi of Grace+Beauty! Today I’m sharing an easy leggings and tunic outfit.

Fashion Over 40: How to Wear Leggings

I have had this Two-Pocket Knit Tunic Sweater since August!!! I scored it on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and I took these photos weeks ago, but I held onto them because I thought they’d be perfect for winter fashion. Of course, now the tunic is practically sold out, which is too bad, because it has a great fit for wearing with leggings. There are a few color combinations left, if you want to check them out. I like the Burgundy-Grey Stripe and the Teal-Grey Stripe. This sweater has 75 5-star reviews, and it’s on sale for $39.90.

I wore the striped tunic with my favorite leggings and black riding boots, and I carried my black hobo style satchel.  And it’s that pendant again. I don’t even know what to say at this point. I swear, I have other jewelry, but this goes with so much! The tri-tone bangles are also old and no longer available.

This outfit is great for a casual dinner out with the family or for a day of running errands. Remember, ladies. Leggings are not pants. At my age, I make sure to always wear tops that cover the, ahem, essentials.

I love how this top isn’t clingy, but it isn’t voluminous either. Even with the wide horizontal stripes, I feel like it’s flattering. And hello, pockets!!!

For size reference, I’m 5’5″ and I’m wearing a Medium.

  1. What a cute and comfy outfit! I’m definitely going to have to try this! I have a similar style sweater that I wear with leggings, but I’ve never tried it with riding boots. Super cute!

  2. I love your outfit Jo-Lynne! I’m beginning to think you don’t have any other necklaces, even though I know you do. I continue to be shocked with how many women, all shapes & sizes, wear leggings, yoga pants, etc., like pants! They show way more than I care to see! What happened to leaving something to the imagination of others. We can be just as comfortable in leggings, if certain areas of our body are covered.

    Have a blessed day!

  3. Cute, cute, cute! I love outfits that are fashionable and pulled together, but also comfortable. Preach on about the leggings not being pants! I would also add that a tunic is not a stand alone dress… I saw this yesterday on someone and was scared I might see more than I bargained for from behind :-0

  4. I was just thinking about investing in some new outfits that would look great as work outfits. I love that the look is simple but professional. And I can wear my boots!

  5. I have some of these striped tunic sweaters, too. I love them. This one looks great with your dark hair. I’m a redhead so I got some of the lighter colors. I have a few from last year, too. They have cuffed 3/4 sleeves, but I think I like this years version better.

    1. Hm. Well, I change purses often, so I clean them out when I do that. And I really don’t carry a ton of stuff. I dunno…. it doesn’t bug me. I actually don’t like purses with sections. I prefer one big area. Maybe I’m weird! LOL.
