Daily Mom Style | What I’m Wearing 08.08.12

This week has been a whirlwind of social events and business meetings and conference sessions so it is not my typical work-from-home-mom style. This week I got to have fun! Eyeona, an app that notifies you when you are eligible for a price adjustment on a prior purchase, offered to outfit me for BlogHer, so you’ll be seeing a lot of new duds in this edition of 40-Something Mom Style!

Okay, well, this first outfit is nothing new. My first evening at BlogHer, I attended an event sponsored by CAbi so of course I wanted to wear CAbi! This red Grecian Tank is one of my favorite tops but I don’t wear it a lot so it was fun to have an excuse to dust it off. I wore it with my DL 1961 white skinnies and Coach snakeskin espadrilles. I borrowed Mel‘s Stella & Dot necklace (that I later ordered with a 20% off coupon I received at their BlogHer booth in the Expo Hall) and I wore my favorite beaded bracelet and diamond studs.

Before the CAbi event, we stopped at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge for an event hosted by my dear friend Christine Koh.

Not only was the event intimate and very special (we participate in making a mosaic to honor Susan Niebur), but there was a gorgeous outside patio perfect for a quick little fashion shoot!

Friday started early with a cab ride across town for a small breakfast hosted by my buddy Colleen to get to know some of the brands behind Kids Headquarters. I was thrilled because we are HUGE fans of Under Armour in this house, and we got a sneak peek at some of the Spring 2013 kids’ fashion trends. Think NEON!

I wore my ruffled v-neck black tank from Banana Republic with my NEW white shorts from Ann Taylor. I felt a bit awkward wearing heels with short shorts, but I soon got over it and felt pretty confident, actually!!

They must have brought me good luck because that’s the day I won the @CarlosFalchi handbag.

I went from there to another breakfast (good thing I like to eat!!) at the digital marketing offices for Baby Bjorn where I got yet another sneak peek at products not yet released — a brilliant booster seat for kids that is as practical as it is stylish and a lightweight fold up cradle that is something you have to see to believe. Best of all, I got to hang out with some of my favorite bloggers.

Nicole is the one who introduced me to R Minkoff handbags, and we had a chuckle when we saw that we were both dressed in white shorts and wedge sandals so Andrea demanded a photo.

After that, the day is a bit of a blur. I attended a party for Avon hosted by the glamorous Romy where I got a makeup touch up and was able to order a few items that will be shipped to my house (thank you, Avon!) and then a lunch for Zarbees hosted by Liz Gumbinger and Beth Feldman where I actually got to meet Kristin Davis! I talked to her briefly and told her I was a huge fan of Melrose Place. I’m sure she heard that approximately 155 times as she worked the room, but she was absolutely lovely and acted like it was the first time she’d heard it.

After that, it was off to a photo shoot for my sponsor, Eyeona.

Then I headed back to the hotel for a cocktail hour with the lovely ladies of BlogFrog, and after that I got to enjoy a relaxing dinner with some good friends.

On Saturday, I broke out my new Ann Taylor blouse and dark wash Paige skinny jeans. I know I swore I wasn’t going to buy jeans with my Eyeona sponsorship, but I. just. couldn’t. resist.

No, the flip flops do nothing for this outfit, but I knew I’d be walking the Expo Hall and my feet were so very tired. Forgive me this fashion faux pas. I did switch shoes before my nighttime events.

I wore this to a party sponsored by Lands’ End and the thoroughly energetic Nicole Feliciano. When does this girl sleep??

Finally, on Sunday, I wore my new navy and white striped dress from Ann Taylor. I got SO many compliments on this. I can’t wait to wear it again. I love it because you can totally dress it up or down.

That’s me with all my luggage. I checked out and left my luggage with the bellman while I attended my last two events. The first was hosted by the Clever Girls and held at the very chic Mondrian Hotel.

And then it was over to the Four Seasons to try their new farm-to-table menu and meet their executive chef — the highlight of my weekend, for sure!! Thank you, Trumpeting Media!

What can I say, it is good to be a blogger!

Now that I’m home, it’s back to the daily grind. I actually wore this outfit for the last two, YES TWO, days in a row. WHAT? It wasn’t dirty!

You surely recognize those duds. Nothing new in the world — just cute, comfy and casual. Truth be told, that’s my favorite outfit of the entire week!

How about you??? What did you wear this week? Did you post it? Let me know, I’d love to visit!

  1. I love, LOVE the striped dress. It’s definitely one of the cutest things in your closet, and girl you have some GREAT clothes! 🙂 I also love the shorts/heels combo. You picked the perfect pair (of both!).

  2. Wow, what a party girl! Hehe. So glad you enjoyed BlogHer and had such an awesome time. Don’t know how you fit it all in but you look great, as always!! 😉

  3. Wow! What glamorous fun!!! Love the red bag! And I love Rebecca Minkoff. If you sign up for her website offers, you get an alert about her sales that happen a few times per year. I got a gorgeous “Morning After Bag” with a major discount. The leather is the most luxurious ever! Love it. Anyway, all of your outfits are so cute and can easily translate to our daily grind as moms/working moms. Also, love the Ann Taylor dress. I think the fit of that brand is one of the best around. I have a difficult figure for dresses and they tend to work the best for me. I keep trying to make Target and Forever 21 dresses work but there is something about quality when it comes to fit. Finally learned that lesson after dumping a bunch of ill-fitting tops and dresses off at Goodwill recently.

  4. Love the Hope Lodge. My uncle stayed there this winter and I went to visit. What a wonderful thing they are doing for people who really, really need Hope.

Love your dress! Looks perfect on you.

  5. You look amazing! Can’t believe you are 40-something! You can definitely pull off the white shorts and heels! They look so cute on you 🙂

  6. Are those the Paige skyline jeans?! I could LIVE in mine! Hands down favorite pants. Keep the fashion posts coming! I’m Melissa’s cousin – looks like you had a fun conference!

  7. The shorts with the wedge heels look great! I think the wedge is more age-appropriate than a regular heel. But maybe I’m just too conservative. That dress is fabulous.

  8. I can’t believe no one else commented on your CAbi tank, I think it’s my favorite of the tops you wore this week; you should definitely pull it out more often!

  9. Hi, Jo-Lynne! I haven’t worn a dress in along time mostly skirts but your recent blog and photo in the beautiful Ann Taylor dress inspired me to shop for a dress to add to my wardrobe. Thanks for the inspiration.
