How to Style Olive Green Pants for Spring

I always like to have a pair of olive pants as a denim alternative in my spring/summer wardrobe. They tend to read as a neutral, so they go well with other neutrals, but you can also pair them with bright colors or pastels. I tend to gravitate to neutrals, so these looks are all fairly subdued, but you can always add color in with your accessories or substitute a color for one of the neutral tones.

3 Easy Ways to Wear Olive Pants

These popular KUT from the Kloth Meg Wide Leg Pants were just restocked in the olive, so I’m sharing a few ways that I’ve worn them this spring. I also added some outfits with olive pants from last season for more neutral outfit inspiration!

Olive Pants + Denim Jacket

Olive pairs beautifully with denim, so the way I wear them most often is with a denim jacket and some type of tee or tank underneath. In this case, I’m actually wearing that v-neck sweater I styled yesterday in a calming shade of beige oatmeal heather.

Brown accessories warm up the look and create a pleasing contrast to the cooler tones in this outfit. These Sam Edelman sandals with the raffia accents add texture and tie in nicely to the straw clutch.

Here’s a similar outfit from last season, this time with a white tank and slim straight cargo pants. The sneakers and faded denim jacket give it a casual vibe, while the accessories and quality of the wardrobe pieces keep it polished.

Olive Pants + White Blouse

Another great way to style olive pants in the springtime is with a light and airy white blouse. This popover top has stripes in muted shades of black and beige, which brings some pattern to the neutral look.

I added a brown belt and did a front tuck to help define the waist and add another point of interest.

I wore a similar look last year with those slim straight cargo pants and a white popover top. The texture in the gauze fabric and the details like the button placket and cuffed sleeves are nice details and keep the outfit from looking so plain.

One again, I added a brown belt, and I love how these slide have a subtle print to them, but unfortunately they’re no longer available.

Olive + Black

WHBM Power Tee (S) // PAIGE Jolie slim cargo pants (29) (budget option) // Vince wedge sandals (8) // straw hat // Fendi sunglasses // similar belt // NAGHEDI tote

And of course, you can never go wrong with olive and black. Again, I’m borrowing pictures from last year, but happily, everything I’m wearing is still in stock! This elevated tee has a flattering v-neckline and a nice slub texture, and I bookended the look with black wedge sandals. These sandals are super luxe, and on sale right now at Saks!

For other options, I love this smocked tank from Evereve. I plan to wear it with the KUT from the Kloth Meg wide leg olive pants as soon as the weather warms up here. This flutter sleeve top would also be super cute with them.

I hope this post inspires you to style your olive pants this spring!

  1. If you are still looking for series to binge onNetflix:

    Emily in Paris
    Dead to Me
    Virginia River

Hopefully your injury will heal quickly.

  2. Any suggestions for current olive pants for pear-shapes that don’t have cargo pockets or large rear pockets? Thanks.

  3. Love olive pants. I have three. Latest ones are wide leg cargos. Thanks for all the styling ideas. You look good in all of them. I would like to see more comfort sandals that aren’t frumpy.

  4. Love the Paige slim cargo pants!
Maybe you could include closed toe sandals.
    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

  5. I love these olive green pants and all your selections look great, especially the ‘Wendy’ blouse.
I also like olive green and pink combinations!

  6. I’m sure waiting until Thurs. is hard. I know this must be hard. Hang in there. I think once you find out and have a plan moving forward that will help you some. I’m glad you can at least still type and do your job. I am always getting up in the night and walking down my stairs without turning a light on and I think of you every time. Not smart on my part. I have always loved olive pants on someone else but when I buy them, they sit in my closet. I’m more of a Summer/Winter in coloring and olive just isn’t my color but yes, I can and have used navy, black, pink and white up by my face and that helps. Now that I’ve let my hair go grey, I really am changing my closet colors out and purging those that just don’t seem to go up around my face anymore. Great post with good ideas of what to wear with olive.

  7. Love all of the outfits with olive pants! A post on sandals would be great. I’m stressing about shoes to wear for a trip I have in August…to Vegas! I don’t have great legs and don’t usually wear shorts but I know it’s going to be so hot. Was thinking of wearing sundresses – even though I don’t love my upper arms either. 🙁 Oh well, I have to show one or the other, right?! Arms or legs, that is. Nonetheless, I’m already looking ahead and thinking I can start from the bottom (shoes) and build outfits around them. I definitely want shoes that are breathable. (This trip is with a group…otherwise, I wouldn’t have gone in August. lol )

  8. Olive pants are my go-to in the spring if I want to wear something other than jeans. I usually go with a black top because it’s easy but it’s nice to see some other combos. Can you tell me about the J Crew hat, Jo-Lynn? I need a packable hat and am debating between the one you show and the wider brim. Is it truly packable? Is it TTS?

  9. Thank you so much for this post. I Love the olive green pants and the styles. There’s nothing like a jeans jacket. I wear mine with everything. I hope you get a good report on your MRI and it shows nothing serious with your ankle. Also, I cannot pin any of your outfits on my pinterest acct. I use this to get outfit ideas. If it’s anything I can do on my end, let me know. Thank you and you take care!!🌷

  10. I bought a pair of olive pants yesterday at a local store so this is good timing. I would not have thought of pairing it with denim. I’ve seen burgundy or navy paired with olive, too. Pink is pretty also.
Yes, to a sandal roundup. I only wear flat ones now due to knee problems so some pretty, stylish ones would be appreciated.

  11. Random question…I bought a couple of SUPER cute muscle tees off Amazon. I love that they aren’t so low cut at the armpits that my bra shows. HOWEVER, The stripes do not line up and it’s very obvious. So I’m sadly sending them back.
JUST MAKING SURE I’m not missing a trend….? They are awesome tees! I really wish I could keep them.

  12. Hi JoLynne—So sorry about your ankle. I can empathize! I twisted my left ankle repeatedly growing up (doing gymnastics, among other things) & had ligament surgery on it in college, then really mangled my right one a few years ago from a fall on stairs. I fell near the top, which was extremely scary, but managed to catch myself on the railing… As someone else said, I’m now SO careful on stairs! Hang in there & try to appreciate the downtime—hopefully you can get out & enjoy the spring weather soon!
I love olive pants & have several pairs—most recent are wide leg cargos. I’d love to see more about transition shoes for this in-between weather. I’m still wearing booties here in MA—it was below freezing this morning so no open toes for me yet!

  13. I would be interested in a sandal post. Would love to see flat or 1″ sandals that aren’t slides. Heels aren’t in my everyday wear and slides don’t stay on my feet. I don’t think I’m alone in this category. Love the raffia idea, but those suggested are heels or slides. Thanks!

  14. Yes, I’m definitely inspired now on various ways to wear olive pants. So, THANK YOU! I would love for you to do a sandals post. And I would really appreciate it if you can share some that have arch support. I’m really going to push my luck in saying that I’d also like to see some options that are in narrow. Thank you!

  15. Thanks for this timely post. I just ordered the pants from Evereve last night. I plan to wear them with a floral blouse I already have but also probably black. Would love more sandal ideas. Praying you’re back on your feet soon !

  16. In the black top outfit and in the white gauze top outfit, is that the Yurman silver bracelet that you introduced to us a few years ago? I bought one after seeing yours. It is delightful. And is that a Yurman X ring in the first photo?
