#NSale Dressing Room Try-Ons

Happy hump day, friends! It’s time for my first round of try-ons from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! For anyone just tuning in, I was at the mall alllllll day on Monday, checking out this year’s #NSale.

The inventory was a bit limited, unfortunately, but I still found some good items. I’ll be back on Friday with a bunch of complete outfits, and I’ll have a lot more to work with, since my online order arrived yesterday afternoon.

FYI, I’ve linked all my 2021 #NSale coverage at the top of the blog, and you can bookmark that page for easy reference when it’s your time to shop. Using my Nordstrom links to shop the sale is a way you can support my blog, and it is SO very much appreciated!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try-On Haul

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and around 137 pounds, with an hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.

My early favorites are these jeans (size up, tho! you may need to go up even 2 sizes), these booties, and these sneakers… although I really like these and these as well. Still debating if I should swap mine for one of those. Also, this blazer is really cute and different, and this jumpsuit is work checking out (size up if in between)! This bag is adorable, and it will likely sell out, and these boots are stunning in person — especially that brown. I didn’t buy, but I’m contemplating it… like I haven’t ordered enough already! Yoiks!

Also, don’t miss my roundup of Beauty Exclusives! I ordered quite a few of those already.

Also, my girls were with me on this little shopping escapade… You will see parts of them in the backgrounds of my pictures. They were trying to hide, but it didn’t always work out so well, lol! So just pay no nevermind to that.

Okay, so I’m just going to dive right in here, and show you what I tried in the order I tried them. I do have quite an assortment — some coats, dresses, a jumpsuit, plus jeans and sweaters and boots, of course!

My Fall Uniform: Crop Flares, Cozy Sweater, Trendy Fashion Sneakers

sweater (S) // jeans (28 but need 29) // sneakers (39)

Madewell Belmont Donegal Mock Neck// Sale: $64.90; Original Price: $98.00 //This is a style that’s been around for a few years, but this year’s version is a little more plush and oversized than the ones I’ve had in the past. It says it has a 22″ length, but it seemed longer to me.

It’s soft and cozy, with a chunky ribbed donegal knit. The sleeve length is generous, and there’s a split hem and a drop shoulder. There is certainly nothing cutting edge about this sweater, but it’s a good fall/winter staple. It comes in ivory, blush, and black; and it runs true to size.

Mother The Insider High Waist Crop Step Fray Hem Jeans// Sale: $159.90; Original Price$238.00 // I already have these jeans in white and black and two denim washes, so I clearly love them! I was so excited to see this new Thrilling Shots wash at the #NSale.

These are pretty much the perfect crop flare — suuuper flattering, soft and comfy, and I can even forgive that silly step hem because otherwise they’re perfection.

SIZING NOTE: These run really small. I’m wearing the 28 here, but you can see me in the size 29 below. I’ve heard of some even sizing up two sizes, so maybe order your size up and the next one, and try both and see.

P448 John Low Top Sneaker// Sale: $199.90; Original Price$298.00 // You know I love my P448s, and I loved the selection in this year’s #NSale, but I’m actually kind of bummed that I didn’t grab the Thea with the leopard accent. The ones I chose are very simple, but they do have that reptile accent on the tongue. I figured they’d be more versatile, but part of the fun of the P448 are the prints and glitter accents, so take a look at all the options, if you’re considering them.

These sneakers have a padded collar, cushioned footbed, and moisture-wicking lining so you can go barefoot in total comfort. In my experience, sizing with P448 is rather inconsistent. I needed the 39 in these, but I have a 38 in a different pair. (Both are the John style.) They’re spendy, for sure, so this is a great time to take the plunge, while they’re $100 off!!!

For Date Night: Halogen Cutout Mock Neck Top

top (M) // jeans (29) // sandals (7.5)

Halogen Cutout Mock Neck Top // Sale: $29.90, Original Price: $49 // This top is really fun for date night. It isn’t terribly expensive, but the quality is decent. It’s not super thin or anything, but it does run small. I’m wearing the medium.

Vince Camuto Candialia Sandal // Sale: $79.90; Original Price$130.00 // These are a fun, trendy sandal you can dress up or down. I actually had the Nude Nappa on order, but I tried the Bone Nappa with my outfits in store.

They do have a tiny heel, so they don’t have the stability of some of my other heels, but they’re not very high. Also, that strap closer to my ankle does stand up a little off the top of my foot… so they will probably fit people with a higher arch better. I can still walk in them fine, though. I sized down to a 7.5, as I typically do in slides, so I recommend going with your usual size — whatever you typically wear in slides and flip-flops.

Trendy Crop Pullover + My Favorite #NSale Boots So Far

sweater (S) // jeans (29) // boots (8.5)

AllSaints Elle Sweater (TTS) // Sale:$74.90; Original Price$135.00 // I didn’t really have any interest in trying this sweater when I saw it online, but there were so few sweaters in store to try, that I grabbed this just for the heck of it. It’s very soft and lightweight, a great little transition top.

The snaps on the shoulders are all working snaps, so you can fix it how you want it — either as a boatneck, or falling off to one side, and that part doesn’t bother me, but I didn’t care for how it fit at the waist.

It’s only 21″ long, and it fits rather snugly at the waist, and it has a slightly curved hemline. Overall, I found it awkward, but maybe I’m overthinking it. I also wonder if I’d like it better in a size up, so it fits more like it does the model on the website.

Vince Camuto Welland Bootie // Sale: $99.90; Original Price$149.95–$150.00 // An iteration of this bootie has been an #NSale staples for the past few years, but I think this year’s is the best yet. I love the narrow slit at the ankle, the versatile shaft height. The snipped toe and tapered heel have a subtle Western vibe, which is trending this year.

I know we’ve #beentheredonethat with this bootie, but I just can’t quit it. After trying on a bunch of other chunkier lug soles and Chelsea boots, I realized that these boots are much better suited to my personal style. I was also pleasantly surprised that they pair pretty well with the crop flares.

They do get hung up on the back of the boot as I move around, but I can either trim that step hem off (temping! I’ve never loved the step hem) or just let it go. The stylist I was working with said that it wouldn’t bother her a bit, so maybe I’m over-thinking it.

I have the Tuscan Taupe with the croc effect suede coming in the mail, so I’ll be curious to see which color goes better with my wardrobe, but I’ll definitely be keeping one of them. SIZING NOTE: As with past years, this boot runs small. You’ll want to size up half in this one.

Wondering How These Jeans Pair with Chelsea Boots…

sweater (S) // jeans (29) // boots (8)

Marc Fisher LTD Padmia Chelsea Boot // Sale: $99.90; Original Price: $189 // This style of boot is very on trend this year, and there are lots of variations of this in the #NSale, across all price points. This pair is very comfortable, and I love this shade of brown, but it doesn’t really work in that well with the rest of the cool tones in my wardrobe.

They’re kind of clunky, and the 5 1/2″ shaft isn’t as high as some of the others, so it does get caught on crop pants. I didn’t try them with skinnies, but I did try them with cigarette ankle jeans and full length straight jeans… see below. These boots also come in black leather and white leather, and they run true to size.

Styling Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans

sweater (S) // jeans (28) // boots (8)

Frame Le High Raw Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans // Sale: $145.90, Original Price $218 // These jeans don’t excite me, but I couldn’t find the ones I really wanted, and now they’re sold out. Womp… womp…

This pair has a 26″ inseam; 14″ leg opening; 10 1/2″ front rise; 14″ back rise (size 29) so they’re more of a crop than an ankle length, depending on your height, of course. The medium wash is pretty versatile, and they just have a straight cut raw hem — nothing special. If you need a pair like this, they’re worth trying, but I didn’t like them enough to purchase. They do run TTS.

Paul Green James Lug Sole Chelsea Boot // Sale: $329.90, Original Price $515 // Another lug sole Chelsea boot, these are by Paul Green, who is known to make some of the most comfortable shoes on the planet!

I wasn’t prepared to spend this much on this style of boot because I’m not sure how much wear I’ll get out of them, but I found them so comfortable, and I love that 7 1/2″ shaft. I also thought this Almond Nubuck might go well with the lighter wash jeans that are trending, so I brought them home to see how they work with the rest of my wardrobe.

As for other Paul Green boots in the sale, I think this pair is stunning, and I wish I’d tried it. They have it in the Black/Natural Calf at my store, so I may go in and try them. I also saw this pair, but I didn’t love them in person as much as I thought I would.

A Trendy (but Pricey!!!) Cropped Cardi

cardigan // jeans // boots

Frame Cashmere Cardigan // Sale: $300.90, Original Price $450 // Cropped cardigans are trending this year, and the details on this one are gorgeous — the wide sleeves with extra long ribbed cuffs, exposed seam up the back, the drape, the contrasting buttons… but I hate how it looks on me. It just doesn’t flatter me at all.

Maybe I needed to try different jeans, I dunno, but for this price, you gotta luuuuuurve it. And I just don’t.

And let’s discuss this denim + boot pairing… It doesn’t really work. While the Insiders get hung up a little, these really just sit down into the back of the boot, and the front doesn’t quite work either.

For a straight crop jean to work with these boots, ideally the hem of the jean will be about a half inch above the boot. Now, these could very easily be cut off, since there is nothing special about the raw hem on this pair, but I don’t like the jeans enough to buy them and cut them… and there is always the risk they wouldn’t work with other boots/sneakers once cut.

This is about the time that my SA came in with a plate of cupcakes and some waters…. actually, she brought them a little earlier. You may have noticed them on the bench beside me. I was worried they were going to get on the clothes, so I moved them behind me, on a shoe box in the back of the dressing room. It didn’t even occur to me that they were in the background of the next set of pictures! So anyway, that is why there is a plate of cupcakes behind me. #soprofessional

I Love A Short Sleeve Sweater

sweater (S) // jeans (29) // boots (8US / 38.5EU)

Theory Women’s Short Sleeve Cashmere Sweater // Sale: $169.90; Original Price$255.00 // I love a short sleeve sweater, I think it’s so chic, and we do have warm fall days where it makes a lot of sense. Plus, it’s also easy to layer a jacket on top if you need to. I had high hopes for this one, but I find the length — while a classic 25″ length — reads a little frumpy. The quality of the knit is sublime, and it is definitely worth the sale price, but I just wish it was an inch or two shorter.

SIZING NOTE: According to the size chart, P=00-0, S=2-4, M=6-8, L=10-12. (Usually a S=4-6 and M=8-10, and in that case, a S usually works for me.) So I ordered the M in this because I’m really between a 6 and 8, but tried the S in store, and the S is plenty big. So yeah, go with your usual S, M, L, or XL size, despite the confusing size chart.

Frame Le Lexington Chelsea Boot // Sale $329.90; Original Price $498 // Okay, now these boots are GORGEOUS, and they’re definitely ones I had my eye on. I wanted something like this last winter — a sleeker black Chelsea boot (not a lug sole) with a bit of a heel. One that is slim enough to potentially wear under skinny jeans, but also has a tall enough shaft to wear under straight crop jeans without the jean getting caught on the top of the boot. These might just be the ticket!

They have a 5 1/2″ shaft, same as the Marc Fishers I tried above, and I really wish I’d tried these with the Frame straight jeans just for comparison’s sake, but I didn’t think to in the moment. I did bring them home, so I’ll be trying them on with other things, to see how they work for me. At this price, they really need to be a work horse in my fall/winter wardrobe.

sweater (S) // jeans (28 but need 29) // sandals (7.5)

Mother The Looker High Waist Crop Skinny Jeans // Sale: $149.90, Original Price: $228 // I’ve been a fan of the Mother Looker for a few years — it’s a good, classic mid-to-higher-rise skinny ankle jean. These are a 26″ cropped length, and they have a 10″ front rise. This is a nice dark wash, very versatile, and there is nothing not to like about these, but they’re nothing new or different.

In fact, they’re very much like the AGOLDE Sophie crop skinnies I have hanging in my closet… that I haven’t reached for nearly as much as I thought I would. (They’re fully stocked at Shopbop, by the way, but full price.) Anywho! If you need a pair like this, these are a good choice, but I decided I don’t need them.

SIZING NOTE: I usually a 28 in Mother Denim, but like the Mother Insiders in this sale, these seem to run small. I would need to size up to a 29.

Mid Rise Ankle Cigarette Jeans

sweater (S) // jeans (28) // boots (8)

AG Jeans Prima Mid Rise Ankle Cigarette Jeans // Sale: $149.90, Original Price $225 // The AG Prima is a longtime staple in the AG denim lineup, and for good reason. They’re pretty much the perfect cigarette jean — a slim, straight silhouette. These have a 29″ inseam; 12″ leg opening; 9 1/2″ front rise; 14″ back rise (size 29).

When skinnies first started to come into style, I wore these almost exclusively. Then the legging fit got really popular, and I found the AG Legging Ankle Jeans, and my Primas got pushed to the back of my closet and eventually the donate pile. When the rises started going higher, and I moved on to the AG Farrah style, which I’ve been wearing for the past few years.

Now that straighter styles are trending again, I’ve been getting reacquainted with the AG Prima. It’s basically a skinny with a slightly wider leg opening, so it reads a little more straight, but it has that leg-hugging fit that flatters my hourglass body type.

This pair has a nice faded wash with some mild distressing and a traditional sewn hem. The 29″ length is close to full-length on me, but it is considered ankle-length. Because of the 12″ leg opening, they do fit over top of some booties, if the shaft is narrow enough. Case in point: these Paul Green lug sole Chelsea boots.

I also tried them with the Marc Fisher Padmia, both with a tiny cuff and also full-length. They work, but I’m not sure how they will be as I move around. I think the cuff is my best bet. You could wear socks, when it gets cold.

sweater (S) // jeans (28) // boots (8)

Vince V-Neck Wool & Cashmere Sweater // Sale: $239.90, Original Price: $395 // I also need to mention this sweater. I actually have this exact one — I picked up late last winter on a deep discount at Neiman’s. It was one of those lucky moments that I just happened across it, and they only had one size left — mine. I wore it a lot, and I’m looking forward to wearing it again this year. (FYI, this black and a really pretty sage green are on sale for the same price at Bloomies, and you don’t have to wait to shop. Sizes are limited, though.)

Anyway, this is a classic style that you can have for years. It’s hard to see in these pictures, but it has really pretty details in the knit — click through to the website to see better. It also comes in a really pretty deep evergreen color. It is 24″ long, and it runs true to size; I have the small.

Good American Good Classic High Waist Raw Hem Jeans

sweater (S) // jeans (28) // boots (8US / 38.5EU)

Good American Good Classic High Waist Raw Hem Jeans // Sale: $109.90, Original Price: $165-169 // These were on my list of jeans to try, but I was underwhelmed. R liked them, but I don’t like the way the rips make them kind of pucker around my knees. I also don’t love that 12″ rise. I can do 11″, but 12″ is uncomfortable to me.

They have a 28″ inseam, 13″ leg opening; 12″ front rise; 16″ back rise (size 8). So they’re basically a high rise straight ankle jean. What I do like about them is how they fit over the shaft of these boots. The 28″ length and 13″ leg opening is a good combo, so I’ll keep that in mind as I shop for jeans.

Full Length Straight Jeans: The Wave of the Future?

jacket (S) // tank (S) // jeans (6 but need a 4) // booties (8.5)

NYDJ Marilyn Stretch Straight Leg Jeans // Sale: $78.90, Original Price: $119 // So these jeans were a pleasant surprise! I haven’t worn this brand in years, but I noticed these in the sale, and I wanted to try them because I do think this is where denim trends are going. I’ve noticed some younger, trendier bloggers wearing this style already.

Granted, the ones they’re wearing are more like these, but I feel like these NYDJ Marilyn straight leg jeans have that vibe, but in a more refined way that suits my classic style. These have a 32 1/2″ regular inseam; 16″ leg opening; 10″ front rise; 15 1/2″ back rise (size 8). They also come in petites, and they have two washes — this Sea Shore, and a darker Saybrook (pictured below.)

These jeans are very stretchy, and I recommend sizing down a full size… at least. I bought the 4, but I might need the 2, if they stretch out with wear. I’ll wear them around the house for a while and see how they do before taking tags off.

jacket (S) // tank (S) // jeans (6 but need a 4)

KUT from the Kloth Carina Houndstooth Check Drapey Jacket // Sale:$58.90; Original Price: $89.00 // I absolutely LOVE this jacket! I’m a huge fan of a moto, but sometimes leather is just a bit much. This houndstooth check is the perfect blend of classic and edgy, and it’s also warm and comfortable. You ca wear this to work with trousers, and also with jeans for date night or lunch out with the girls. It runs true to size.

One thing to note: The sleeves are very long. I plan to have them shortened, but I didn’t want to leave the jacket at the store on Monday because I want to have it for a photo shoot later this week. I’ll definitely have the sleeves shortened before fall weather sets in, though.

Same Jeans, Different Wash… and a cool Asymmetrical Sweater

These are the same jeans in the Saybrook wash, in the size 4. I actually like this wash a lot too, but I purchased the lighter ones. Can we also take note of how perfectly the pair with the Vince Camuto Welland Booties? These boots really do work well with every length and style of denim…. well, almost. Not that pair of Frame straight crops.

Next, I decided to try them with the Marc Fisher Chelsea boots… yeah, not so much a fan of this. I look like a muppet.

AllSaints Lock Roll Neck Wool Blend Sweater // Sale: $149.90, Original Price: $245 // This sweater was not on my must-try list, but I took it back to the dressing room out of curiosity. I had already seen this in every blogger’s #NSale favorites, even before the sale opened, and I was tired of it already, haha! I also anticipated it being longer and more of a tunic, and we all know I don’t care for those.

Well, it’s surprisingly cute on. I thought I tried it with other jeans, but I can’t find pictures. I also tried on (and purchased) the AllSaints Ridley Funnel Neck Wool & Cashmere Sweater, and I can’t find pictures of that either.

I tell ya, it was a zoo in that dressing room, with my daughters in and out, and trying things on as well. It’s amazing I got as many shots as I did.

Anyway! This sweater is true to size, and it’s really cute. It’s definitely going to go fast, so grab one if you think you might want it.

Let’s Discuss Coats

We took a break for lunch, and before heading back to the dressing room, I tried on a few coats. The coat selection is a bit lacking in this year’s sale. For example, there is no good long puffer coat, but there are some good jackets and lots of long wool and wool blend coats.

Barbour Tummel Belted Quilted Trench Coat // Sale: $215.90, Original Price: $325 // This reminds me a lot of my Burberry that I’ve had for like 5 or 6 years, now, and still wear a ton all fall and winter. The style I have was discontinued so I can never link it, but this one is very similar.

This jacket is 31 1/2″ long (size 8 Us) and fully lined with a preppy tartan plaid (I should have cuffed the sleeves to show you) and 100% polyester fill. The exterior is also 100% polyester. It doesn’t say that it’s water repellant, but I have to assume it is. It’s true to size, but if you’re shopping in-store, be aware that the size on the tag is the UK size. I got thrown off by that. I wear the 6 US / 10 UK in this brand.

Sam Edelman Double Breasted Wool Blend Coat // Sale: $149.90, Original Price: $240 // There are TONS of Sam Edelman coats in this year’s #NSale. He does a good shoe, and so far, I’m pretty impressed with his coats too.

The plaid on this coat is GORGEOUS. I already had my eye on it online, but when I saw it in store, it is really a pretty color combination. Both C and I thought so. It’s 35″ long (size M) and the fabric is 40% wool, 35% acrylic, 25% polyester. It’s fully lined, and of course, dry clean only.

While it’s pretty, and I like the above-the-knee length a lot, something about the way it fit through the chest bothered me. C agreed on that count, as well. I think it’s because of the double breasted style — I usually don’t like them on me because they tend to add bulk in an area where I don’t need it. But if you don’t have that issue, grab this coat. It’s dreamy, and you can dress it up and down, so it should be very versatile. It’s true to size; this is the Small.

Barbour Shaw Hooded Puffer Jacket // Sale: $166.90, Original Price: $250 // I had my eye on this coat during the Preview, and I was not disappointed. I love this color, it’s such a nice break from all the black I wear, and it works well with light denim.

It’s 27 1/2″ long (that’s for the size 14 US — so mine is probably a little shorter) with front snap-welt pockets, and the fabric is 100% polyamide with 100% polyester fill. It’s machine washable, and it runs true to size; this is the US 6 / UK 10.

Sam Edelman Water Repellent Belted Trench Coat with Removable Hood // Sale: $119.90, Original Price: $190 // I’ve been wanting a classic tan single-breasted trench for several years, but I’m very picky about the shade of tan, and single-breasted styles are hard to find. I was excited to see this one in the sale, and even more excited when I saw it in person and I liked the color.

Unfortunately, I don’t care for the below-the-knee length. It’s 41″ long; and the fabric is 55% cotton, 45% polyester. You can machine wash and tumble dry, so that’s a nice perk, but it’s just a lot of coat for my casual lifestyle. If you need a coat to wear over dresses, this could be a great choice. But for me, with my fall uniform of jeans and a sweater, I want something a little shorter. It’s TTS; I’m wearing the Small here.

Dresses & Jumpsuits

Okay, back into the dressing room we go! And there are those cupcakes again… Seriously, WHAT was I thinking?

dress // booties

Eileen Fisher Long Sleeve Organic Cotton Jersey Dress // Sale: $89.90, Original Price: $148 // Every year, Eileen Fisher has a casual dress in this sale, and the last two years, they were top sellers for me. This year, I’m not loving the style. For one thing, it’s long-sleeved, so not as versatile or as easy to layer over.

And while the material is fabulous, and it has a great drape, I still felt it was a little bit shapeless on me. If you do like this dress, size down. Eileen Fisher dresses run really big; I’m wearing the XS.

Eliza J Ruffle Sleeve Sheath Dress // Sale: $87.90, Original Price: $148 // I’m a huge fan of Eliza J for event dresses, and this one is a nice choice, but I would recommend it for women who are smaller on top. The flutter sleeves are just too much with my square shoulders and large bust. It’s a cute dress, though, and a really nice color for fall. Size up; I’m in the 8 and could use a 10.

Harper Rose Cap Sleeve Jumpsuit // Sale: $47.90, Original Price: $138 // A jumpsuit is a nice alternative to a dress for events, and I like this one a lot. It has a 29″ inseam, and it’s 97% polyester, 3% spandex. It’s also dry clean only, FYI.

I like the jewel neck and cap sleeves, and the banded waist is kind of cool, but it doesn’t quite flatter me. It looks weird in the chest area. I also think I’d need the next size up. I’m pretty sure I was trying on the 8, and when I tried to sit down and bend over, it was not comfortable. Since I don’t need it, I didn’t bother trying the 10 to see how that fit, but definitely consider sizing up if ordering.

Vince Pima Cotton Sleeveless Dress // Sale: $139.90, Original Price: $225 // I wanted to love this. The fabric is absolutely sublime, but it was a little long in the body (although the straps could easily be altered) and then I found the whole tie situation to be kind of awkward. I’ve seen other bloggers style this and look fantastic, but it just didn’t feel comfortable to me, and for the price, I need to love it.

It’s 100% pima cotton — which surprised me. It feels soooo nice, I thought it might have some silk in it or a touch of cashmere. It’s machine washable (dry it flat) and the length is 52″ (size Medium).

Have It, Love It!

Finally, a few things that I have and love, that are back in this year’s #NSale…

ALLSAINTS Dalby Leather Biker Jacket // Sale: $299.90; Original Price$459.00 // This was a major splurge for me last year, and it’s actually less now than what I paid for it. This is $160 off!

AllSaints does leather jackets like no other, well, maybe there are some that are nicer, but the full retail price on those is truly staggering. I love a good black leather jacket, but I already had two, and this Oxblood was so luxe and different, and yet very versatile. See above just some of the ways I’ve worn it!

Anyway, I like it so much, I ordered the Pink from this year’s sale. We’ll see if I can come up with this many outfits for that color, but I was thinking it would be really nice going into spring… as we tend to have very chilly springs here in Philly.

SIZING NOTE: Size up! I have this in the size 8.

KUT From The Kloth Donna High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans // Sale:$58.90; Original Price$89.00 // I got these during last year’s #NSale and wore them a ton. They have a great legging-like fit, and the raw hem keeps them casual, even though the inky black wash can work with dressy looks too. They’re very lightweight, thinner than most denim, which I love because it can stay hot here will into fall.

Alo Soho Pullover // Sale:$49.90; Original Price$78.00 // This pullover is buttery soft, so so so good! It also comes in a bright tangerine. It’s TTS; I have the small.

Sweaty Betty High Shine High Waist 7/8 Leggings // Sale:$54.90; Original Price$88.00 // These are some of my favorite leggings. The high shine gives them that leather look, but they are far more comfortable than any of the faux leather leggings I’ve tried.

I don’t really wear them as streetwear, though. I wear them for working out, and they are so comfortable. They have a really nice high rise that holds in all the fluff, and they stay put and don’t slide down, even when I run. Plus they’re very flattering. Size up in these; I have the Medium.

Nordstrom Signature Open Front Cashmere Cardigan // Sale:$199.90; Original Price$299.00 // This cardigan is back from last year. It was a top seller, and I’m still kicking myself for not keeping it. (I actually gifted the navy to my mom for Christmas, and I did keep the black speckled one (it is not in this year’s sale, unfortunately.) But this Beige Hummus Hthr is such a gorgeous shade of beige. I love the cool undertones, and it is incredibly versatile.
SIZING NOTE: These run big. I am wearing the Small above, but I kept the black in the XS.

Alrighty! That’s all I’ve got from the dressing room. I did get a TON of stuff in yesterday from my online order, so this morning I’m planning to try all that on and put some outfits together. I was really pleased with some of the pieces I got — seeing them in person is a whole lot different than looking at them online, that’s for sure! I’m excited to try them on in the comfort of my own bedroom, and see how they work with other pieces in my closet.

  1. Wow!!!!!!!!! Great round up on the Nsale. I really enjoy your commentary and thoughts on each piece. So happy straight leg is trending again!

Did you happen to look at mens or beauty or jewelry?

    Enjoy your cupcake!

  2. Wow, there really are some good things in the sale. 🙂 I have to say for me personally, even though I love the lug soles on ankle boots, I don’t love them with the crop flares. The more slender ankle boots looked better to my eye. I also love the almond Paul Green boots, but I don’t see myself wearing them enough to get a reasonable cost/wear. I’m hoping I love the Jano Lug, but I know I’ve seen things online and then been disappointed in person, so I guess I’ll just have to see when (if?) I get them. They’re on my priority list and so far are not sold out.

Immediately added the Prima jeans to my wishlist after seeing them on you. Love the fit and wash. TTS?

Not loving the sweater selection as much this year, although I admit that could be because I’m just not ready for sweater weather. I didn’t have many in my cart – the Rails cardigan (sold out), a Nic+Zoe black turtleneck (sold out this morning), and a Faherty (?) navy sweater that suddenly morphed into a different pattern. It was a navyish with a striped down the outside of the sleeves, but when I checked on it yesterday, it was navy with horizontal stripes. And I didn’t like it as much, so deleted it.

Again, thank you so much for all your work on this. Looking forward to your next try-on!

  3. thoughts on p448 compared to Golden Goose? I have some GG and love them and am wondering the differences you see good and bad — beyond the price point of course.

    1. P448 fits me better. I have tried to love GG several times, but the narrow toe bed bothers me. The P448 have a lot of cushion and a wider toe bed so they work for me, and they cost half of the GG so I can justify buying more, haha!

  4. I’m tired just from seeing what all you tried on! Did y’all ever eat the cupcakes? I’m really considering the light colored chunky boots because they look like some I could wear a lot, instead of sneakers and mules, if they have arch support. Of course, I have a pair of inserts I could use in them. I like most of the sweaters you tried on, but it just doesn’t get cold enough down here to wear them. I hardly ever need a coat. The short puffer coat you tried on looks great on you!

    1. Caroline ate one, and I had half of one. It was the first thing I’d eaten all day and I was worried about having too much sugar to break my fast. 🙂 They were DELICIOUS tho. I hated to waste the other 2.

  5. Thanks for all your hard work, especially the sizing info. I placed my order at midnight as soon as the sale opened for me. Can’t wait to get my items and start trying things on! Fingers crossed that the houndstooth Moto looks as good on me as it does on you! You are the only influencer I’ve seen feature it and it was one of the first pieces that caught my eye. Love the NYDJ jeans on you too. I may have to revisit those…

    1. I also love that houndstooth jacket. I may have missed it – what size are you wearing? It looks great!

  6. Wow!!!!! You put a lot of work into getting this post up so quickly. I have to be honest, I do not like the new jean or boot styles. The lug looks so funny, as it makes peoples feet look so big and clunky. I think the new styles are for the younger gals, not us almost 60 yrs. old ones. 🙂 LOL When you went back to last years pictures of the Kut from the Kloth raw hem black jeans, I just loved those jeans on you and I still am not going to give up my skinnies. I can’t deal with trying to figure out the boots to wear with these new styles. I’m so glad you are doing the hard work of figuring that out for us and once I get to seeing them on you, maybe I’ll change my mind. I just can’t get my eye to like the FULL length jeans. Not ready for that to come into style at all. They tend to look better with a heel boot and for my casual lifestyle, I just don’t like to run around in heels. It was really fun to read your post today and see all the new things trending. I’ll be looking forward to your next one from your online order. Thanks as usual for keeping us in the know. I do LOVE you in a motto jacket……so you.

  7. Any thoughts on Men’s denim????? My 22 year old son wants to branch out from American Eagle (which he’s worn for 6-8 years!!! :):)

  8. This is April again………I should add that my husband is an LL Bean and JCrew jean guy, so he’s not much help :):):)

  9. Great post. Thanks for sharing those NYDJ Marilyns because I was looking at the 7forAllMankind ones that are similar but are now sold out. Any idea if things will be Restocked? Frustrating for those of us not on the elevated influencer list… I am allowed to shop on Friday but heck, that’s two whole days away! LOL

  10. Wow. As usual, you did an amazing job with the Nordy sale dressing room sess, Jo-Lynne. Thank you!
Sizing question- Is the Kut houndstooth jacket TTS? It was already at the top of my list and the long arms mean it will be perfect for me!

Anyone else struggling with Nordstrom’s wish list? It seems easy to add items but not so easy to remove them. LOL. I’ve been trying on my computer. Might give it a go on my phone. My wish list is overwhelming me! Too bad you can’t move items around in it. There are some sorting choices but no way to sort so you can put your favs at the top.

    1. On my computer, there is a little circle in the upper left of each item box. Clicking on that gives you the option to move the item to another list or delete.

      1. Thanks. The dot wasn’t working on my computer. Everything on the wishlist would gray out. It worked on my iphone.

  11. You honestly look great in everything, but the lug sole boots are a no. It’s them, not you! You are stunning!

  12. Which Longchamp handbag is that in the picture with the black leggings and gray sweatshirt?
    Thank you!,

  13. Jo-Lynne, thank you for this wonderful post! I know that it is a lot of work and I love seeing the new trends, so it is very much appreciated. The lug sole boots look clunky and I can be a klutz so they could be a tripping hazard for me. LOL! My favourite outfit is the one with the NYDJ Marilyn Stretch Straight Leg Jeans, Houndstooth Check Jacket, and the Vince Welland Booties. You look ah-mazing in that outfit!

  14. What size are you wearing in the houndstooth Kut from the Kloth jacket? Super cute and loved hearing that the sleeves are long (always a problem for my long arms).

  15. Would love to know what your girls found! I have a couple that are in the same age range, and I don’t even know where to start looking for them.

  16. Whew – I’m exhausted for you after reading through your try on! Trying to be very selective this year when I shop, so I really appreciate your feedback on fit. Thanks for pairing the jeans with boots – helps to have a visual.

  17. I love that you try all of this on and give your feedback! I love those your NYDJ Marilyn straight jeans. Will that light denim style work for fall and is that the trend? I live in North Carolina and start wearing jeans regularly in October/November and have a hard time seeing that color with some of my fall clothing. What are your thoughts?

    1. Yes, I think we will see light wash jeans carry over into fall. It’s kind of like white jeans. You just have to pair them with things that look intentional — chunky sweaters and boots in lighter colors.

  18. Thanks for all your work with this try-on. I can’t imagine putting on and taking off that many tops and still have my hair in place and looking as good as you do! LOL

I can’t help but think “I can make those looks with what’s already in my closet”. I guess that’s a good thing?? And, I agree with others that the lug sole boots don’t seem to jive with your style aesthetic. Too clunky looking, especially in the lighter color. On the other hand, the snipped toe booties look great and paired so well with all the jean styles.

    1. That’s awesome, and exactly how you should look at it. If you can make the looks you like from your closet, you’re all set! 🙂 I do agree, there isn’t a lot of pieces that are new or different this year, but deals are good on most things, if they fill a hole in your wardrobe.

      1. Thanks so much for the quick reply, sorry, I didn’t notice you had already addressed that they are TTS in someone elses comment, your input is greatly appreciated!
