A Neutral Fall Outfit with White Jeans | 22 Days of Fall Fashion

It’s the last day of September, and we are wrapping up 22 Days of Fall Fashion! For this last post in the series, I’m styling a neutral fall outfit with white jeans.

I actually wore this outfit all day yesterday. Paul took these pictures before I left the house for my dental appointment.

I don’t know what it is about neutrals this fall, but I’ve been feeling particularly drawn to them lately. There’s something about neutral tones that I find soothing, but also sophisticated and refined.

This v-neck slub sweater comes in red, blue, or tan with white stripes; and it runs true to size. I have the small. It fits close to the body, and the cotton/linen blend is lightweight and perfect for layering.

I really like the reverse-jersey striping and solid ribbed trim, plus the wide v-neckline is flattering yet modest.

For today’s post, I styled this sweater with white jeans and taupe suede mules.

I almost wore booties, and they would look great with this as well, but I’ve done booties a lot lately, and the mules keep it practical for everyday errands and things.

To add warmth and interest to the outfit, I wore my denim jacket. This medium denim wash is a nice complement to the white and tan in the outfit.

I almost always cuff the sleeves on this jacket. It’s generally more flattering to push up your sleeves, and it adds an extra style factor. Plus, it allows your bracelets to show!

Speaking of which, I wore my favorite Victoria Emerson bracelet — the Alicante boho cuff. I have quite a few of her bracelets, but this is the one I reach for the most. It has such a nice combination of gold and silver tones, and I love the mix of beads and coins.

This casual outfit is perfect for appointments and errands or working from home. I removed my jacket when I was at home, but I was really glad I had it at the dental office. They keep it really cold in there.

It’s also an effortless look for dining out. Since most of us are opting to eat outside these days, layers are going to be key for keeping us comfortable as the weather cools down.

  1. When I’m busy, like pre-covid it’s really exhausting,I guess I’ve adjusted to this way of life, for the most part. I’m really drawn to neutral this year too! They are very soothing!

  2. I really like this outfit!  Thank you so much for mentioning that you almost always cuff the sleeves on your jean jacket, and why you do!  I am going to remember that tip.  We are finally having lows in the 40’s & 50’s, with highs in the 70’s or 80, so light layering and/or jackets are  what’s needed.  Yes, I’m doing a happy dance, but will dance even more when the 80’s are totally gone.  And the sun is out, as of today, so it’s extra beautiful.  I’m glad that you don’t have a jam packed calendar today!  Have a great one!

  3. I love the neutrals this time of year and I adore the purse you chose to go with it.  Can you give us some info about it?  I’m a tote girl, but I need a neutral crossbody.

  4. This outfit is perfection and a great idea of how to wear white jeans in the fall! I love how you explain all the “whys” of this outfit. Enjoy your last day of September.

  5. Another great fall outfit! I’ve really enjoyed the fall fashion series. Thank you so much for the series, I looked forward to it every weekday.

  6. I have so enjoyed the fall series. What I like most is that I can usually substitute a dressier item for the jeans and make it work wearable. Thank you!

  7. I love this outfit so much!  I followed the link for the sweater and all it showed was the red stripe.  But, I love the style of the sweater and the color is fun, plus the price is good, so I decided to get it anyway.  So much for a neutral outfit, but I’m excited about the sweater!  Ha ha  Hope your day is a little calmer than yesterday.
