Anchored GIVEAWAY

Last week this beautiful box of goodness arrived on my doorstep.

Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected

It’s the brand spanking new book by my friend Kayla Aimee called Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected, and true to her generous nature, it also included an adorable anchor charm bracelet and three gorgeous printables in her signature style. I cannot wait to frame them and place about my office. Wasn’t it nice of her to design them to coordinate with my color scheme??

I’ve spent the last few days reading her story. I knew parts of it. After struggling to conceive, her daughter Scarlette was born at 25 weeks weighing less than 2 pounds. Scarlette spent many weeks in the NICU struggling to survive. Kayla Aimee’s story is one of heartache and joy and triumph and pain and ultimately hope, and she shares it all with a delightful sense of humor that usually has me laughing through my tears. She isn’t afraid to be honest about her doubts and fears and how she worked out her faith through that trying time.

My older daughter was in the NICU for several days after she was born (over Christmas, to add insult to injury!!) and I can relate to just a fraction of the emotional turmoil that Kayla Aimee must have experienced in those months while Scarlette was hospitalized. I truly can’t imagine the strength and perseverance it must have taken to get through that time, but she tells about it all with such grace and vulnerability. I think any mother can appreciate this book, but especially moms who have experienced the NICU and the emotional roller coaster that comes along with having a preemie. You can visit her Anchored website to watch her trailer and read more about her story.

Anchored: Finding Hope in the Unexpected releases tomorrow, July 1st, and when you place an order, you’ll be able to download this gorgeous printable art from GraceLaced as your free gift. Pretty sweet, yes?

  3. I checked out her website yesterday and almost ordered the book but I didn’t. Then today looked at your blog and what do you know- a give away. I hope that I win!

  4. I am a Neonatal RN as well as the mom to 28 week preemie twins who spent 3.5 months in a NICU an hour from home. This book is relevant to me on both levels, as I know the heartache of the mother myself while knowing the real risks as a nurse. It is one of the most vulnerable positions to be in.

  5. What a story of hope and overcoming tragedy, and what a beautiful print! I can’t imagine her pain and fear of what she went through because I haven’t been through it myself, but I have been through the loss of a spouse. I received so much comfort from someone’s else’s story in the form of a book, someone who chose to put her own pain and hope into words to help others. So, I applaud Kayla for writing her experience and receiving the blessing of sharing her story with others.

  6. Hi there Jo-Lynne!
First of all love your outfit posted today especially the necklace. My nephews girlfriend recently started a small jewelry business and she makes some awesome pieces! I’m going to ask her to make me a necklace similar to the one your wearing, love it! 🙂

Second, my oldest daughter was also a preemie, she stayed in the hospital for a week so I can totally relate to you and Kayla. My daughter is 21 years old now and a junior in college, she’s doing great!. God is good 🙂
