Are Colored Jeans Still In Style? #FashionFriday

Cheers to Friday, friends! My Fashion Friday linkup is BACK! I apologize for the inconsistency over the past few weeks. When I have a sponsored post due on a Friday, I can’t host the linkup because of potential conflict of interest, and it seems like I’ve had a lot of requests for Friday posts lately.

So the burning question I keep getting is, are colored jeans still in style?

The answer is most definitely yes! I’m seeing the trends leaning more towards light pastel colors, but colored denim is definitely still going strong.

I have a few pairs but the ones I find myself gravitating to the most this season is this light pink pair.

These are a few years old. They’re 7 For All Mankind, and I love the released hem and cropped length. There are a few left on Amazon (the color is Pink Sunrise), and this year they brought this color back in a higher rise with a traditional hem that are currently on sale at Bloomingdale’s.

These jeans are a lightweight twill with quite a bit of stretch (so not really denim at all) and they’re comfortable to wear all summer long except on the hottest of days.

They have a nice fit, and they run true to size. I have the size 29. I could wear the 28, but I don’t like my light colored jeans to be too snug so I opted for the larger pair. I also hang them to dry so they don’t shrink.

As you can see, for this look I wore these jeans with a white sweater and white leather sneakers.

I am dubbing this sweater the official beachy sweater of summer 2019. And bonus, it just went on sale!

This is the perfect sweater to throw on with jeans (regular or a color) for a chilly summer night at the beach (or a chilly spring day like today!) It would also be cute with shorts or a casual skirt.

It has a hood, which is always a fun detail, and the wide ribbed cuffs and split hem are also nice touches. It does have the dreaded drop shoulder, but it works with the slouchy styling.

It’s very soft and the knit is thick enough not to be see through but not too thick for this time of year, if that makes sense.

This sweater also comes in navy, pink, yellow, and a fun multi-stripe. It’s true to size; I have it in a small.

To keep the look super casual, I wore my white leather sneakers. These aren’t new to anyone who’s been following along for a while, but I can say that the more I wear them, the more I like them.

They’ve broken in well now, and I can easily wear them without socks for a few hours. If I travel in them, I wear white no-show socks to be on the safe side.

I’m also carrying what is quickly becoming my go-to spring handbag — this Tory Burch McGraw hobo. I looked for quite a while before deciding on this bag, and now that I have it, I can’t believe it took me so long to bite the bullet on this purchase. I kind of liked it from afar for a while, but once I ordered it and put it on my arm, I haven’t wanted to take it off.

It’s a great everyday size — not as large as the totes I normally carry, but big enough to carry what I need. I think the styling is so pretty, and it’s just so easy to use. Everything is accessible and there’s no zipper or flap closure to futz with. The single carrying strap is the perfect length to carry in your hand, over your arm, or on your shoulder. The leather is gorgeous, and it’s unlined inside (my preference) but with 2 slip pockets that easily fit a large smartphone. The ivory goes with absolutely everything, but it also comes in sand, taupe, and violet.

Unfortunately it’s excluded from the Tory Burch spring sale, but it does qualify for the Bloomingdale’s Power Points offer — Loyallists get a $25 Reward Card for every $100 you spend — so basically you get $75 back to apply to a future Bloomies purchase.

I realize some of you are getting warmer weather and may not be wearing spring sweaters at this point, but for those of you still getting snow and mucky weather, pairing pastel colored jeans with a white sweater is a great way to inject some springtime in your wardrobe while still being weather-appropriate.

I also love to throw on these jeans with a white tee and denim jacket. In fact, I wore that exact outfit in Disney World a few weeks ago. See more outfits with pink jeans.

  1. Any suggestions for a lower price pink jean? (The link to Dress Barn jeans isn’t working for me.) I love this look, but I need to look at less expensive jeans. Thanks. Have a great weekend!

    1. Arna, I have a whole bunch of pink jeans in the shopping widget in the middle of the post – tons under $50. I removed the Dress Barn ones from both shopping widgets – evidently they’re gone now.

  2. I love the pink for spring and I love the Tory Burch purse. I am going to look on the Tory Burch website for it. They are having a 20-30% off sale depending on how much you purchase . I already got a few pair of sandals for the summer.

  3. I really like the light colored pants!  They would be a nice change from all of the denim in my closet, so I am contemplating buying one pair.  I am also considering the sweater in the light pink.  I’m glad Paul made it home without any issues.  Sounds like y’all have a fun weekend in store.  Weather permitting, we will have a bonfire at our lake house tonight then our weekly one at the neighbors tomorrow night.  Sunday we could have severe weather-YUCK!  Have a great day!

  4. I love love the pink, so cute!! I’m not a trendy person, so I usually don’t have a clue what’s in or not, until my 16year old daughter lets me know otherwise🙄 but I just love these, not sure I’d want them in any other color, but there’s something about the light pink….

  5. I didn’t know colored jeans were ever out of style. Stitch Fix has sent me olive green and burgundy this winter and I keep asking for a blush or pink pair but they never have them. I love this pair! I think jeans of all colors are definitely in style, but now that it’s spring the lighter colors are trending.

    1. I don’t really think they were, but I get the question a lot. 🙂 I never stopped wearing them. I also have some light green ones – I need to see what happened to those. I didn’t see them when I got my spring clothes out of storage.

  6. Question on sizes. The Modcloth jeans (these look like such a pretty light pink color) come in odd size numbers. (I usually wear 28 or 6/8 at Loft) Would that be a 7 or 9? Thanks.

    1. Hey Arna, sorry I didn’t get back to you till now. I believe it goes 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and so on, so if you’re normally an 8, it should be the 7. I read some reviews, and they seem to run true to size or slightly big so I’m thinking 7.

      1. Thank you. I usually wear Loft 6. I did order the Macy’s pink jeans so I am hoping I like them and the fit.

  7. I’m so glad I read your post before going out to shop this morning. I bought a pair of light pink twill cotton jeans… and paired it with a white sweater with a narrow black stripe. Needless to say I bought both.. I have a white sweater with a hood already so that will also work based on your photo. I realized in the fitting room just how much I can do with this color and a nice change from just the white jeans that I wear ALOT during the nicer months.
    Have a great weekend 😀

  8. Love these with the white sweater! I almost wore the pink Lucky ones yesterday that you featured not long ago. I’ve never tried the Ava before, but I really like the fit.

    1. Same! I always wore their legging jeans, and I never heard of Ava until these. Glad to find another style of Lucky jeans I like b/c the price point is really good compared to what I normally buy, and they’re pretty competitive quality wise.

  9. I bought 4 pairs of colored jeans from Walmart’s new line of clothing Time and Tru. The store has them marked down to $9.00 pair. Not sure it Walmart.com has them marked that low.

  10. Jo-lynne this is utterly one of the best spring outfits. I liked this pink jeans especially the cropped part. Also I liked your frizz look of your hair. Those frizzy edges of your hair gave you a chic attitude. Well and the sneakers with no socks really compliments looks of this time of year. Keep it up.
