Asymmetrical Floral Sheath for Spring

If you have a spring wedding to attend or another festive event coming up this season, I may have a dress for you!

This asymmetrical floral sheath caught my eye on the Nordstrom website because of the bold print with the large scale floral pattern.

It’s a little more sophisticated than most of the floral prints I’m seeing this season. The background is navy, although it reads slightly purple in these pictures, and the flowers have various shades of lavender throughout.

The asymmetrical hem and small side slit is super fun and flirty, but the length keeps it modest.

The thick scuba material is fairly forgiving, although I did have a small issue with my shapewear. These Spanx girl shorts don’t usually slide down; I just didn’t have them pulled up far enough to accommodate the placement of the seam on the dress.

I actually really like the seam at the waist, though. It’s unusual to find the waist of a dress placed high enough for my short-waisted figure.

This dress is selling out on the Nordstrom website, but I also found it on Amazon, Dillards, and Zappo’s. I also found a similar dress at Nordstrom, and I really like this print as well.

For size reference, I have this dress in an 8. That’s my usual size for brands in this range — Eliza J, Vince Camuto, Maggie London, etc.

I wore white pumps with this dress, although a white sandal would definitely work as well, or you could wear nude or navy if you don’t like white footwear.

I love these Sam Edelman Hazel pumps. I have them in quite a few colors because I find them so comfortable and walkable, and they’re also very attractive on the foot.

Depending on the climate in your area of the country, you may need some outerwear for your spring dresses. I picked up this silver trench several years ago, and it’s perfect for wearing over a dress like this for most occasions.

While my exact coat is gone, there are tons like it. Mine is Michael Kors, and this one is similar but in different colors. I also found a silver one by Vince Camuto at Zappo’s.

Finally, I carried this white leather shoulder bag. I’ve been looking for a light colored bag to carry with my dressy outfits this spring and summer, and I’m really pleased with this one. The leather is buttery soft, it holds a fair amount for a small bag, and it’s lined with a nice microfiber. Overall, it looks and feels more expensive than it is.

This bag is 20% off right now at Lord & Taylor, and you can also find it at Amazon, Dillard’s, Nordstrom, and Zappo’s!

  1. Beautiful dress and yes I like the hem line. The only wedding on the radar this year is our daughters so I’m still in search for a Mother of the Bride dress. It’s not been easy… plus because it’s a late spring wedding I have. Certain criteria lol…
Enjoy your day sounds like a good one.

  2. All I can say is, You look Lovely in a Dress. I love this dress. Thank you for sharing your favorites. They are becoming my favorites also. Love your Blog. —-Linda

  3. The dress is very pretty Jo-Lynne! I appreciate how you include the price of all the outfit pieces in the widget at the bottom of your post as well as alternative options. It’s heloful to have that information right there without having to go to each store’s website. Most Bloggers don’t include this information for their readers. Have a fun day with your son today!

  4. Now I feel badly that I pushed you for the spring fashion series. You look freezing! Beautiful, but freezing. Thanks for doing it. Your sacrifices are appreciated!

    1. That was by far the worst day I’ve had shooting this spring. It was ridiculous. Of course today is beautiful. Ha! It’s ok, happy to have a pretty day in the city.

  5. Very pretty dress!  Enjoy your day in Philly!  Since I haven’t been able to find a jean jacket in a pink or coral, in my price range, I have just ordered the faux suede drape jacket in lilac, from Nordstrom.  I ordered 2 sizes since I’m not sure which one I need, and return shipping is free. With our climate, I believe I will be able to wear it ar least 9 months out of the year.  Have an awesome day!

  6. Did you get the regular size or the petite? I’m 5ft 4 and wondering if the regular is too long. Would the petite just be shorter or also more snug fitting? Thanks. Love your blog!

  7. Jo-Lynn: Just got my Silver & White Victoria Emerson cuff and I love it BUT how the heck do you get it on by yourself. They are having a BOGO sale and so I got a free one (in black) to give to my son’s girlfriend. Everyone, check it out.
