Evereve Everything Spring Sale: My Top Picks

Hi friends! I’m back today with a roundup of my top picks from the Evereve Everything Spring Sale for anyone looking to update or refresh their spring wardrobe.

Z Supply jacket // Blake hoodie // NOT ON SALE: MOTHER denim (29) // P448 sneaks (39) // Longchamp tote // YSL sunnies (option) // earrings

Aside from Nordstrom, Evereve is pretty much my favorite place to shop. They do a great job curating good quality, on-trend styles that are wearable for the everyday woman, and right now they have 10% off new arrivals!

I realize 10% isn’t a huge discount, but Evereve is not one of those stores that runs sales constantly, so this is pretty much as good as it gets until they put things on clearance.

What to Buy at the Evereve Everything Spring Sale

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

This lightweight quilted jacket is a casual, sporty style that’s perfect for topping off your athleisure and casual denim outfits. It’s true to size with a generous fit, perfect for layering over sweatshirts.

Z Supply On The Move Quilted Jacket (S) // Blake hoodie (S)

This is the hoodie I’m wearing underneath the Z Supply jacket. I absolutely love the details on this one, with the raw edge hem and exposed seams, plus the colorful stripes down the arms. The washed red is so pretty on, too.

I almost didn’t order this because it looked really wide and swingy on the website, but it’s not. It has a really nice fit, and it’s true to size. I’m wearing the small.

Blake Taped Hoodie (S) // NOT ON SALE: MOTHER denim (29) // P448 sneaks (39) // sunnies // VE earrings c/o – 60% off with 60Jo-Lynne // Longchamp tote

SUNDRY makes some of my favorite casual tees and sweatshirts, and this pink pigment dyed thermal is so cute and easy to throw on with jeans or jean shorts. I tend to pair it with blue denim, but it will also be cute with white as the weather warms up.

SUNDRY pullover (size 1 = S) // NOT ON SALE: MOTHER denim (29) // VEJA sneaks (39) // LV bag

Speaking of SUNDRY, this side tie tee is SO cute. It’s extremely soft and lightweight, perfect for warm spring and summer days when you want a casual “beyond basic” tee.

Even though I usually wear a size 1 (which is equal to a small in SUNDRY) I ordered the 2 because that’s what the model on the website is wearing, and she is clearly a lot smaller than I am. That turned out to be a good call. It’s definitely the right fit, so I suggest sizing up if ordering this one.

SUNDRY Side Twist Tee (2) // NOT ON SALE: MOTHER denim (29) // P448 sneaks (39) // earrings

This white French terry sweatshirt with the fun striped laces is another SUNDRY piece, and this time I sized up to the 2 but I wish I hadn’t. I think it’s a little too big, although it might shrink up some in the wash.

It’s also verrrrry spendy. I almost didn’t re-order in the small because it’s kind of a crazy price for a sweatshirt, but I can see myself wearing it a ton – this spring with jeans and then this summer with denim shorts, so…. yeah. #ADDTOCART

SUNDRY Lace Up Sweatshirt (2) // NOT ON SALE: MOTHER denim (29) // P448 sneaks (39) // earrings

This is another favorite elevated sweatshirt that is a little more affordable. It’s a little thicker and cozier than the white SUNDRY above, so I won’t be wearing it all summer, but it’s a great one for those of us who will have chilly spring weather for a while. I sized up to a medium in this for a more relaxed fit.

sunrise pullover (M) // NOT ON SALE: MOTHER denim (29) // On Cloud sneakers (8.5)

For your dressier occasions, this eyelet top is so pretty and such a gorgeous color. The fabric is a little stiff, but that’s the nature of eyelet, I guess. It looks pretty with both white and black denim, or you could dress it down with blue jeans.

Larissa Eyelet Top (S) // PAIGE jeans – 20% off (29) // Vince sandals – 20% off (8) // NOT ON SALE: NAGHEDI tote // necklace // earrings // bracelet

Also, these PAIGE jeans and these Vince sandals are both on sale at Bloomingdale’s!

This is another pretty top that looks great with white or blue denim for spring and summer. Also, these jeans are 20% off at Bloomingdale’s, and these sandals are 30% off at Zappos!

Ari Ruffle Collar Blouse (S) // PAIGE denim – 20% off (29) // Dolce Vita sandals – 30% off (8) // necklace // earrings // VE bracelets c/o – 60% off with 60Jo-Lynne

The sandals are one of my favorites for dressier looks; they’re super comfortable, and I wear them a ton in the spring and summer.

This entire look is on sale! I love this sweater and the wedge sandals, but I need the next size up in both, so I just re-ordered them while on sale. These bootcut jeans have a great fit, and I like the wash a lot too – a great buy for $89! They’re TTS for the brand.

The Faherty gauze top that was last month’s top seller is included in this sale in both the navy and white, as well as a fun print.

It is sooo soft and comfortable, such a nice quality piece. It’s actually on a deeper discount at Bloomingdale’s, but you have to buy more than just this top to get the 20% off.

Faherty Desmond Top (S) // PAIGE cargo pants – 20% off (28) // J.Crew hat – 43% off (S/M) // NOT ON SALE: Tory Burch slides (8) // Yurman bracelet

And these Faherty pants are also on sale. I tried the 28 and the 29, and they both fit, but I like the slighty looser leg on the 29. That’s what I’m wearing here.

Faherty Desmond Top (S) // Faherty Wide Leg Pants (29) // NOT ON SALE: Kork-Ease clogs (8)

This is such a pretty dress for spring weddings, church, or just dinner out with the family.

Brielle Midi Dress (S) // Dayne sandals (7.5) // NOT ON SALE: earrings // bracelet

And these sandals are quickly becoming my go-to for spring/summer dressier looks. I love the strappy, barely-there styling with the flared 2″ heel. Very walkable!

This blouse is a great little transition piece; I love the moody floral print grounded on a faded black background.

Evereve blouse (S) // AG Jeans – 45% off (29) (budget option) // Marc Fisher pumps // YSL bag (similar for less) // earrings // similar necklace

And here’s another great option, this one grounded on a navy background.

Evereve blouse (S) // AG Jeans – 45% off (29) (budget option) // booties (option) // belt (similar for less) // bag (similar for less) // earrings // similar necklace

I keep meaning to style this top, and I always forget… maybe this week when it warms up a bit! But it’s really cute, perfect for layering. My AGOLDE Riley Long Jeans are also on sale!

Elliot Scoopneck Tee (S) // AGOLDE Riley Long Jean (29) // Tory Burch boots (8) // PAIGE denim – 20% off (29) // Marc Fisher boots – 60% off (8) // old vest

Also, my Dolce Vita platform sandals are included!

Dolce Vita platforms (7.5) // Rails Charli linen button-up (S) // FRAME denim (29)

I know there’s more, but I need to get this post up so I can get my Saturday email out! I always do a roundup of the best weekend sales and deals, including my top product picks, and I answer reader questions that I get throughout the week.

Spring Fashion Try-On Haul

Happy Friday, friends! I’ve got a new try-on haul for you today with spring styles from Talbots, Evereve, Gap Factory, J.Crew, and more!

2023 Spring Fashion Try-On Haul Talbots Evereve J.Crew Gap Factory

Many of the items in this post are on sale this weekend, so it’s a great time to pick up a few new items to refresh your spring wardrobe or get you through the last few weeks of winter.

Evereve is doing 10% off on new arrivals through 3/5, and you can redeem your GapCash at Gap or Gap Factory through 3/6. (No GapCash? Use code ALLYOURS for 20% off site-wide, including clearance!) Talbots is doing 30% off full-price dresses, skirts, shoes & accessories. Also, you can use code 60Jo-Lynne to get 60% off any of the full-price Victoria Emerson styles I’ve linked!

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 28 or 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

Spring Tops, Tees & Blouses

Let’s get this party started with tops, tees & blouses! Everything here from Evereve is 10% off this weekend, but unfortunately the Talbots tops and sweaters are not part of a promotion right now, but they probably will be soon. If you aren’t in a rush for any of them, just keep this post handy for when they do go on sale.

Ari Ruffle Collar Blouse

10% off at Evereve (S) // ecru jeans (29) // white jeans 20% off (29) // sandals 30% off (size 8) // earrings // bracelets c/o (60% off with 60Jo-Lynne)

This floral ruffle-collar blouse has elbow-length sleeves, which are perfect for ladies who prefer some upper arm coverage. It’s very feminine and pretty, and pairs perfectly with white or ecru denim. This would actually make a nice outfit for Easter! It runs true to size.

Also, the PAIGE jeans I’m wearing above are 20% off with code TAKE20. You can see more of them in last week’s try-in haul; they’re true to size.

VERDICT: Returning… I think. I feel like this one is a little too precious for me, and I don’t see myself reaching for it very much, but it’s a beautiful blouse for someone!

cloth & stone Essential Gauze Button Down

10% off at Evereve (M) // jeans 30% off (more sizes here) (28) // sandals (7.5)

This blouse was recommended by a member of our Facebook Group (shoutout to Shelly!) and then another member chimed in and said it was her go-to white summer blouse as well, so I figured I ought to try it. They also recommended sizing up, so I ordered the medium, which is definitely the right size.

As you can see, it’s very gauzy with a relaxed fit. It’s definitely rather sheer, but I don’t mind that. I wouldn’t wear a cami under it or anything. I’m not sure I love the big boob pockets, though, and I’m not really a fan of how long it is either.

I tried a front tuck, but then it looks like I have a tail, haha!

It also bubbles a bit over my bum when I do the front tuck. So yeah, I’m not sure I’m in love with this one. It’s a nice quality, though, and if you like this look, it’s 10% off right now.

VERDICT: I think this one is going back. I have a couple others on order, and once it gets warm enough for short sleeves, the Faherty Desmond Top has a similar vibe. (It is also on sale, by the way!)

Evereve Mia Sweater Puff Top

on sale at Evereve (S, but need M) // jeans 10% off (6) // sandals (8, but need 8.5)

I love this sweater, but it runs verrrry small. I am definitely re-ordering in the medium. I think the colors are so pretty, and the fit is really nice with higher rise jeans.

VERDICT: Keeping! I also love these shoes, but they also run small, so I just re-ordered in the 8.5.

KUT from the Kloth Stella Bootcut

on sale at Evereve (6)

I know this is not a top, but I’m throwing these in here b/c they don’t go under any of my other headings in this post, and I just showed them above.

These are a really nice option for a budget-friendly bootcut jean. I like the wash, the fit, the pocket placement, everything!

VERDICT: Keeping!

Textured V-Neck Pullover – Tipped

at Talbots (S) // jeans (6) // sandals 30% off (size 8) // earrings

I don’t usually find a lot at Talbots that speaks to me, but every once in a while, I find a hidden gem, and this sweater is one of them! I think it’s so flattering and cute on.

I love the raglan shoulder seams and the wide v-neck with the black stripes. I actually thought they were navy, so I paired this sweater with dark wash wide leg jeans (also from Talbots.) Of course, that works fine, but I’ll probably wear it more with black jeans.

The fabric is a soft cotton/rayon blend, and it’s 23 1/2″ long — perfect for wearing untucked with pants or jeans. This sweater also comes in petite, plus, and plus petite sizes.

VERDICT: Keeping this one!

Ribbed V-Neck Cardigan – Multi Stripe

at Talbots (S) // jeans (6) // sandals 30% off (size 8) // necklace // earrings

This striped cardigan has so much potential! I love the color palette, and the shorter v-neck cardigans are trending. Unfortunately, it’s a little too low-cut to wear without a tank underneath, and that ruins the v-neckline.

I also don’t care for the drop shoulder, especially with the horizontal stripes. It just makes my already wide shoulders look wider and more disproportionate to the rest of my frame.

VERDICT: Sadly, I decided to return this one. It’s cute, but I can do better.

Pintuck Yoke Shell – Voile

at Talbots (S) // jeans (6) // sandals 30% off (size 8) // necklace // earrings

I love this shade of green, and I thought this blouse would be pretty with white pants and dark denim this summer, but it’s kind of stiff, even though it’s thin. It doesn’t drape the way I would want it to, plus the ruffles on the shoulders are a bit much for me.

To show you the length, I photographed it untucked, but it looks better tucked, and it works best tucked all the way around. It doesn’t have enough drape for a front tuck.

VERDICT: Returning. This would be cute on someone, but it isn’t for me.

Elbow Sleeve Pullover – Variegated Breton

at Talbots (S) // PAIGE denim 20% off (29) // heels 10% off (7.5)

This is a lovely, classy sweater, but it runs the risk of looking a little frumpy because of the length, high crew neck, and elbow-length sleeves. Any one of those features is okay, but altogether, it’s very conservative. It definitely needs to be styled with a very current style of pant, like these PAIGE wide leg trousers, which are back on sale at Bloomingdale’s!

Here’s how it looks from the back. Because of the longer length, I wore full-length pants with a heel to keep the proportions of the outfit in balance.

VERDICT: This sweater is flattering and good quality, and aligns with my personal style, as it’s modern, polished, and understated. But something about it just feels a little too conservative to me. I decided to send it back.

Button Detail Tencel Popover

at Talbots (S) // PAIGE denim 20% off! (29) // heels 10% off (7.5)

Alrighty, well… this one is interesting! I actually like the neckline and sleeves from the front, and the denim blue tencel fabric is lovely and so summery with white jeans. BUT. It’s way too long for me, and while the petite might be a good option, the buttons down the back are total deal breaker for me.

VERDICT: I couldn’t send this back fast enough!

Drop Shoulder Pocket Tee – Paradise Stripe

at Talbots (S) // jeans 20% off (29) // heels 10% off (7.5)

So this top, I kind of like. I’m not usually a fan of the boob pocket, but this one is small, and the contrasting stripe pattern is kind of fun. Also, the way they did the roll cuff on the sleeve is a nice detail.

It runs a little small, but it has a nice drape. It definitely needs a front-tuck to make it look a little more styled, and I would like to see this look with a belt, but I like it.

VERDICT: Keeping this one! I like it with the white jeans, but I can also see wearing it with shorts for more casual looks.

Classic Crewneck Tee – Arbor Stripe

at Talbots (S) // jeans (6) // heels 10% off (7.5) // necklace // earrings

This is another one that runs the risk of looking frumpy (especially if you leave it untucked) because it’s kind of long (26″) and fitted, but it’s a nice one to tuck in all the way around.

I like the graduated stripes, and the sleeves are flattering, but I wish the neckline were more open. These high crewnecks they’re doing this season are hard to pull off, and if you’re larger chested, forgetaboutit. I’m pretty sure I would have hated this before my breast reduction surgery.

Here’s how it looks tucked in. This is a nice beyond basic stripe tee, if you need something like that and don’t mind the high crewneck. It also comes in plus, petite, and petite plus sizes.

VERDICT: I returned this one, I’d like to find a v-neck or scoop neck stripe tee that would serve the same purpose.

Wide Leg Pants & Jeans

Let’s move on to pants and jeans! I have more wide leg styles to show you today, and some are really good. I truly cannot believe I’m embracing this silhouette, but it just goes to show how quickly our eyes can adjust to new trends when we give them a chance.

Wide Leg Jeans – Moonlit Wash

at Talbots (6) // tee (S) // slides (8) // platform heels 10% off (7.5)

Let’s start by talking about these dark wash wide leg jeans from Talbots. I like these a lot, in theory. The dark wash is polished and sophisticated, and they have just the slightest bit of fading on the thighs and rear, which keeps them looking current.

They have long, lean silhouette, and the wide leg style plays into current trends in a classic way. The sailor buttons at the waist are a nice detail, as well as the wide sewn hem.

They’re just a TAD too long to wear with flats, so I would need to hem them if I wanted that option. They look great with heels, though, so that’s how I would probably wear them. (Although I think they look too short with these platform heels; I like them better with the braided slides.)

The rear view is just okay; the pockets are a nice size, and they’re evenly spaced, but they’re set a little too high on me, and they don’t really shape or flatter the way most of my jeans do. I realize they’re meant to be more of a trouser jean, but they could still be more flattering.

VERDICT: Returning. While these could be nice to have, I have soooo many other options right now, I just don’t think I’d reach for them.

Twill Wide Leg Pants

at Talbots (6) // sweater (S) // ballet flats (8)

This white pair has a nice, classic silhouette, but they’re pretty thin. I don’t like how you can see the front pockets through the fabric.

I also don’t care for the rear pocket placement. They’re too high and small, and the fabric is too thin so you can see ev-er-y-thing. I would obviously need to wear the beige shaping shorts, but even with those, I just don’t think these pants are doing me any favors.

VERDICT: Returning. If I were going to keep them, I think I’d have them shortened 1/4–1/2″ because I like the silhouette with flats.

Faherty Stretch Terry Wide Leg Pant

on sale at Evereve (29) // top on sale (S) // clogs (8)

These are nice for a more streamlined wide leg pant, and I really like the color. I’m also warming up to those front patch pockets. The rise is really high, though, so be aware of that. They’re also on sale at Evereve.

VERDICT: Keeping.

Faherty Stretch Terry Sailor Pant in Bone

on sale at Evereve (28) // top (S) // clogs (8)

These are basically the same pants in bone, but I don’t like them as much, for some reason. The pockets seem to be more prominent, and the color is kind of yellowy.

Here’s a close-up of the top. So cute, love the navy!

VERDICT: Returning the pants, keeping the top.

KUT from the Kloth Meg High Waist Wide Leg Jeans in Sand

at Nordstrom (6) // other option 10% off // Caslon t-shirt (S) // slides (8) // necklace // earrings

I ordered these because I liked the fit of the blue denim pair, but I didn’t love the wash. I actually really like this sand washed color for spring; it’s a nice alternative to white and blue jeans, and it looks great with these espadrille slides.

The measurements on these are 27″ inseam; 23″ leg opening; 10 1/2″ front rise. I like how they’re just fitted enough through the hips and bum to have a flattering shape, and the rear pocket placement looks good.

They almost have a bit of a flare to the silhouette, rather than a sleek wide-leg style, which I like. It gives them a casual, almost boho vibe.

Here’s how this outfit looks styled with a denim jacket on top. I think this is so cute!

VERDICT: Keeping these! I might even wear this outfit with sneakers the next time I travel, and it would also look good with platform sandals or clogs.

High-Waisted Cropped Wide-Leg Chino Pants

at Old Navy (6) // clogs (8) // white tee (S) // denim jacket (S) // necklace // earrings

These pants have a similar silhouette to the KUT from the Kloth pair above, but with a 26″ inseam cropped inseam. They also come in petite (24″ inseam) and tall (30″ inseam) sizes, plus there are lots of colors to choose from – this green, as well as black, brown, beige, light pink, and light blue! So many good choices..

Whereas the KUT from the Kloth Meg is a thicker, more denim-like fabric, these are more of a chino fabric. They’re nice and light, so perfect for warmer climates. And I don’t know what is going on with the red patches on the rear – it was something about the lighting in the photo.

I also styled a look with a long-sleeve shirt for those of us in cooler climates who won’t be wearing t-shirts for a while. This long-sleeve knit polo is really soft and comfortable.

VERDICT: Keeping! I’m really impressed with these. Also, you can use code AMAZE to save up to 35% off your Old Navy order.

MOTHER The Roller High Rise Wide Leg Jeans In Let’s Trip

on sale at Bloomingdale’s and motherdenim.com (28) // tee (S) // sneakers (38) // earrings

Yes, we’re back to these… but this is a size smaller than the pair I was wearing last week, so I took the opportunity to play around with them some more. I don’t know when I’ll learn, especially with MOTHER denim, that even when my larger size seems to fit, sometimes the smaller one fits even better!

I was hoping the smaller size would also be just enough shorter to work with flats, but they aren’t. I would still need to hem them if I want to wear with flats, but they do look really good with my Dolce Vita Volli boots!

I mean, seriously… no one does denim like MOTHER. The fit on these is so good, plus they’re thick and soft with just enough stretch to be comfortable but not so much that they lose their structure.

Like the KUT from the Kloth Meg, these almost have a bit of a flare to the silhouette, which I like. I always prefer my jeans be somewhat fitted in the hips and thighs; that’s why I loved skinny jeans, and also why I love bootcut styles so much.

I also tried them with my Dolce Vita Lukas platform slides, and while they look okay, the jeans get caught under my foot when I walk. A platform sandal with a back strap or closed back should work with them, though. I want to try them with these from last year, and I also just ordered these to try.

Sidebar: I was futzing with this shirt because I don’t like how it bubbles in the back when I front tuck it, so I tried the ridiculous half tuck, and voilà!

I don’t know if I will ever wear it this way in real life, it seems so silly, but I’ve learned never to say never!

Also, these jeans are definitely too long for slides, unless I hem them, which I don’t want to do. So heels it is!

VERDICT: I finally decided to keep these, in the size 28.

PAIGE Anessa With Raw Hem Jean

on sale at Evereve (29) // sweater on sale (S, but need M) // sandals on sale (8)

I like the idea of these… the dark wash and raw hem are kind of nice for a change, but I don’t love the distressing on the rear pockets; it seems rather incongruous with the sleek dark wash, and they are reallllly wide at the bottom.

If you do like this silhouette, this pair is 20% off at Bloomingdale’s. I think I’d like that wash better. In fact, all the PAIGE denim I’ve been showing recently is 20% off at Bloomingdale’s, including the Jolie slim cargo pants! (See more HERE.)

VERDICT: Returning the jeans, but I ordered this sweater in the next size up, and I’m keeping these sandals. I think they’re really cute, and they’re also very cushiony and comfortable. That strap is adjustable, too.

White Jeans & Shorts

Alrighty, moving on… I’ve got a couple pairs of white denim to show you.

Mid Rise Classic Straight Jeans

at Gap Factory (28R vs 29S) // similar Vince sweater // sandals 30% off (size 8) // necklace // earrings

I ordered these to have a budget-friendly pair of classic white straight leg jeans to recommend, and I’m impressed! They are really nice. The fabric is thick and soft and stretchy, and they have a really nice traditional straight fit.

I would gauge the rise at about 10″ although they don’t offer that measurement on the website.

The rear pocket size and placement is excellent, as well! These are the 28 in the regular size, and they fit just about perfectly. The inseam is 29″, according to my measurement, and that seems about right for how they fit my body. (The website says 30″.)

Here’s how they look with flats, and I think this works, although in my perfect world, they might be an inch shorter. I typically like 28″ for a straight leg jean.

They also come in short and long sizes, so I ordered the 29 in the short, and I could definitely size down to the 28. I measured these, since they don’t offer the inseam length for the short and tall sizes, and I came up with 27″.

On me, that is the perfect ankle length, but I feel like these are intended to be full-length, and I prefer the fit of the ones above.

VERDICT: I’m holding onto these. I don’t really need them, but I might end up styling them for an upcoming Gap Factory collab, so stay tuned! These are 20% off, plus you can stack your GapCash on top of that, or use code ALLYOURS to save an additional 20%.

Jen7 Roll Cuff Denim Shorts

at Nordstrom (6) // WHBM tee (S) // slides (8)

When I ordered these shorts, they were on a major sale, but they’re back to full price now. I’m just glad they’re still in stock because they’re really good! They’re very stretchy and comfortable, with a versatile 4 1/2″ cuffed inseam and 10 1/4″ front rise.

The rear pockets are on the smaller side, but I think they’re okay. I ordered the 28 and 29, and I’m wearing the 28, and they’re quite comfortable. I think it’s safe to say you can size down, if in between. (I don’t like to size up in my shorts unless I have to, because then the leg opening looks funky on my spindly legs.)

VERDICT: Definitely keeping! I feel like I scored big with these.

AG Mari Crop Jean in White Cream

on sale at Evereve (29) // at Zappos // top (S) // slides (8) // earrings

These jeans are more of an ecru, but I’ll throw them in here with the white denim. They’re the AG Mari in a crop length. You may recall, the AG Mari is a slim straight style, and they typically have a 29″ inseam, so similar to the white Gap Factory pair above.

This pair has a 27″ inseam, so they’re more of a crop or ankle-length style, depending on your height. I like them in theory, but the rear pockets are a deal breaker for me. They’re kind of narrow and set too high. The bottom of the pocket should be right about where the hip meets your bum.

VERDICT: Returning, although I would like a pair of straight ankle jeans in ecru, so I’ll keep looking.

Shoes

Okay, so a few pairs of shoes I’ve ordered that I thought I should share.

Adidas Retropy E5 Sneaker White-Black-Shock Purple

at Nordstrom (8) // sweater (S) (similar for less) // jeans (29)

These caught my eye for the color palette, and I thought they’d be cute with black joggers and flared leggings, but I did not find them comfortable at all. They’re plenty cushiony, but my feet slid around in them, and they just didn’t have enough structure for me. Very cute, though, if you like the way they fit.

VERDICT: Returning.

Gola Grandslam Pure in White Ash Fuchsia

at Zappos (8) // jeans (29)

This is another pair of sneakers I bought because I loved the color palette, but once again, I did not find them comfortable.

I tried to wear them one day, but I took them off before I left the house. I’ve tried Gola before and felt the same way. I guess they just aren’t made for my feet. Cute colors, though!

VERDICT: I returned these.

Adidas Gazelle Bold Platform Sneaker

at Nordstrom (8) // jeans (29)/ sweater (S) (similar for less)

And yet another pair of sneakers… these have a slight platform, and I wanted to try them with the wide leg jeans I’ve been playing around with. I ordered the 8, but they’re too small, so they’re going back. I don’t think I like them enough to order the next size up. They seem to grunge for me, or something…

VERDICT: Returning.

Linea Paolo Newry Ballet Flat

at Nordstrom (8) // pants (8) // top (S)

I really like the ballet flats with the gathered topline, and I’m seeing a lot of them out this spring. I ordered these in the black (obvi) and the leather is like butter. They’re extremely soft and comfortable, but there is absolutely no support, if that is a requirement of yours.

I’m noticing a lot of girls wearing these with the wider leg pants, which I kind of like, but it’s an interesting contrast.

I used to think I needed a bulkier shoe to balance a wide leg, but I was listening to this podcast yesterday, and they were talking about this issue specifically. They explained that you need a more structured shoe with wide leg pants because it helps define the bottom of the outfit. It makes sense, I guess!

VERDICT: I think I’m keeping these. I’ll at least hold onto them for the time being.

Dresses

Okay, home stretch! I get a lot of requests for dresses this time of year, and I’ve found some good ones lately.

Eyelet Fit & Flare Dress

at Talbots (6) // sandals (7.5)

This one has a really pretty fit and flare silhouette, if you like that sort of thing. It has a bit of a retro vibe, which is nice.

Also, eyelet is a big spring trend right now, but it can be a little sweet for me, so I like how the black fabric counteracts that. I also really like the split neckline and the cap sleeves.

VERDICT: I think I’m returning this one. While I can appreciate that this dress is flattering, it really isn’t my style. It’s also a little big on me. I would try the size 4 if I wanted to keep it. If you like it, it’s 30% off right now, and it also comes in petite, plus, and plus petite sizes.

As for the green shoes, I LOVE THESE! But I did notice that they fit a little bigger than the Light Natural pair I have in the exact same style. I don’t know what’s up with that.

Stretch Crepe Sheath Dress

at J.Crew (8) // heels (7.5) // earrings // old bracelet

You all know how I love a sheath, and this one from J.Crew is so lovely. It has a really nice fit, and it’s excellent quality. I’d say it’s more of a scuba fabric than crepe, though. It has more of a smooth texture with some stretch to it.

I’m wearing the 8 regular here, but I did also order the 10 petite, which fits much better. I shared that in my Instagram Story last week, and then somehow forgot to take a picture! I kept the 10 petite, so I’ll get a picture of that sometime this week and share both in next week’s Try-On Haul, so you can see the difference.

VERDICT: Keeping! I plan to wear this for Easter, if the weather cooperates, and also the wedding I’m attending this summer. I just need to figure out jewelry.

Cinched-waist cupro midi dress in Festival Pink

at J.Crew (S) // heels (7.5) // earrings // bracelet

This is a really pretty fabric, and I like the bright pink, but it’s kind of plain, and it’s an awkward length. I don’t care for how it ends at the widest part of my calves.

VERDICT: Returning. Don’t love it.

Brielle Midi Dress

at Evereve (S) // heels (7.5) // earrings // bracelet

Now, this is a really pretty one from Evereve, and it’s included in their spring sale! I don’t mind the ruffle on the bottom because the top is fairly simple and structured. I’m just not sure the colors are best for me, but they’re really pretty.

This is the size small, and it JUST fits. I think I’ll order the medium while it’s on sale, and see if I like it better or not.

VERDICT: I’ll hold onto this one until the medium comes in, and then decide.

Loving Lately at Nordstrom

It’s no secret that Nordstrom is one of my favorite stores to shop, and based on my analytics, it’s one of your favorites too!

Last month, I did a post like this where I rounded up a bunch of my latest Nordstrom finds as well as some of my tried and true favorites, and you all seemed to love it, so I decided to make it a monthly feature.

one // two // three // four // five// six // seven // eight // nine // ten // eleven // twelve // thirteen // fourteen // fifteen // sixteen

Most of these are items I’ve ordered or tried. Some are current favorites that I’m wearing on repeat, and plan to continue wearing into spring.

There are a lot more in the shopping widget below than we could fit in the graphic, so take a quick scroll to see what else I found.

Top Ten in February

Good morning on this first day of March! Today I’ve got my Top Ten in February, which is a roundup of your favorite items from the past month. Let me know if you snagged any of these items and how they worked out for you!

Top 10 Reader Favorites in February 2023

These were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels last month. They’re listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.

also wearing: stripe sweater // MOTHER denim // flats // earrings // similar bag // sunnies (option)

#10. Sam Edelman Water Repellent Cotton Blend Trench Coat // Bright colors are trending this spring, and this orange trench coat is a great way to participate in a way that is classic and sophisticated. It runs true to size, or size up if you have a larger chest.

also wearing: AGOLDE shorts // Rails button-up // sunnies (option) //necklace set // bracelets one & two

#9. Michael Stars Maya V-Neck Tank // File this in the spendy but #worthit category, this tank is such good quality. It’s nice and thick and soft and stretchy, with a flattering neckline and bra-friendly straps. It runs true to size, or size up for a less body-con fit.

also wearing: bracelet // watch (option) // purse

#8. CeCe Ruffle V-Neck Blouse // Such a pretty little blouse for work or church or date night, and it comes in a bunch of colors. Wear it with jeans or pants, or even a skirt. It’s true to size!

also wearing: jeans // sandals (also at Zappos) // sunnies (option)

#7. Rails Charli Stripe Linen Blend Button-Up Blouse (also at Bloomingdale’s) // This splurge-worthy linen blend button-up in a pastel stripe is fresh and fun for spring. It pairs perfectly with white or blue jeans. It’s true to size, or size up for a more relaxed fit.

also wearing: necklace set // denim jacket

#6. Joella Sleeveless Dress (also at Saks & Nordstrom) // This dress is the perfect easy-breezy one-and-done answer to casual dinners out, lunch with friends, or you can even wear it as a swimsuit coverup. It runs true to size.

also wearing: MOTHER denim // earrings // similar bag

#5. LOFT Stripe Crochet Textured Sweater // This cotton sweater in nautical stripes with a subtle blouson sleeve is a must-have for spring. I love how it pairs with blue jeans and white jeans, and I can even see wearing it with white shorts for a mild summer evening by the pool.

also wearing: Gap Factory sweater // Dolce Vita booties (more sizes here) // earrings // necklace // similar bag

#4. Gap Factory Mid Rise Bootcut Jeans with Washwell // These budget-friendly bootcut jeans were a happy surprise for this self-proclaimed denim snob. Seriously, the fit and feel is spot-on, and the light wash is right on trend for spring. These are a really nice alternative to my favorite MOTHER Weekenders.

also wearing: sandals // similar necklace

#3. LOFT Tie Waist Jumpsuit (petite sizes) // Jumpsuits are a nice alternative to dresses, and this one is soft and stretchy and comfortable in a black jersey knit that you can dress up or down. It runs true to size, but a little short in the body. I am in the small, but you could try sizing up if in between.

also wearing: sweater // boots // sunnies (option) // similar necklace // earrings

#2. AG Farrah High Waist Bootcut Jeans in 2 Years Dropout // These are my go-to black bootcut jeans, very flattering and a really nice wash with just a hint of distressing that keeps them from being too dressy. They’re on sale, so sizes are limited, and they run small, so definitely size up if in between, and you may even want to size up one from your regular size.

And the winner is! Drumroll please . . . 🥁

also wearing: cargo pants // sandals // hat // bracelet

#1. Faherty Dream Desmond Top (also at Bloomingdale’s & Zappos) // This top is a really nice quality piece, and it comes in several nice neutral colors. I love how it pairs with these olive cargo pants, but it also looks great with blue jeans or shorts. It’s a bit spendy, but I feel like the quality is worth it. Evidently a lot of you do too, since it’s in first place this month.

And that’s it for February! Let’s hope March is kind to us… it is typically my least favorite month of the year, but I’m choosing to remain positive. Maybe we’ll get an early spring this year!

Trend to Try: Short Jacket for Spring

I’m working on an update to my Spring Coat Guide for 2023, but in the meantime, I wanted to show you one of my favorite spring jacket trends this year.

This is definitely a season of extremes because not only are longline coats trending, but so are the shorter cropped styles.

The LOFT Modern Rain Jacket caught my eye when I was shopping in-store. I love this gorgeous shade of green. With bright colors trending this spring, this makes a nice topper to my neutral outfits, but it also makes a fun contrast worn over other lights and brights.

I really like the raglan sleeves and snap flap pockets, and it has a bit of a swingy shape, which is fun. It also has an attached hood, in case you forget your umbrella. (I never carry an umbrella, so hoods on my rain jackets are a must!)

I styled this jacket two ways for this post. First, over a colorful striped sweater with off-white wide-leg pants and clogs.

LOFT Modern Rain Jacket (S) // Everlane The Organic Wide-Leg Pant (8) // stripe sweater (S) // Kork-Ease clogs (8) // goldtone hoops // Tory Burch handbag

The sweater is from Gap Factory, so it’s a great price point. I love the colors, and it’s 100% cotton, which is great for those who like natural fibers and can’t wear wool. It’s true to size; I’m wearing a small.

And these are the organic wide leg pants from Everlane. They probably look better with a more form-fitting top or one that is tucked in, but I don’t mind this look. I think it works because of the low contrast between the bone-colored pants and the ivory background of the sweater.

I’ve had some questions about clogs and if they’re trending again this spring, and I certainly hope so!

I haven’t seen them listed on most of the spring trends lists, but I think that’s because they’re a carry-over from the last few seasons. I plan to continue wearing mine. They’re the perfect transition shoe with bootcut jeans and wide leg pants that require a heel.

My second look is a little more laid-back and casual. I wore the same green jacket over a pink thermal top with blue jeans and white sneakers.

LOFT Modern Rain Jacket (S) // MOTHER denim (29) // SUNDRY thermal top (S) // VEJA sneakers (39) // LV Graceful PM // YSL sunnies (similar for less) // earrings c/o

I love the contrast of the bright green and the pigment dyed pink. White jeans would be really nice with this outfit, but I went for a medium wash blue to keep it more casual and not quite so bright.

The SUNDRY pigment thermal top is one of my new favorites. It’s the perfect beyond-basic top to level up a casual jeans and sneakers look, which is basically what I live in these days.

And these jeans are the MOTHER Tomcat, a crop straight style with a 10 3/4″ Rise, 26″ Inseam, and 14″ Leg Opening. Those are the measurements according to the MOTHER website. You can also find this exact pair at Anthropologie and Shopbop.

I like how they’re a little more relaxed than my MOTHER Dazzlers, due to the slightly wider leg opening and slightly shorter length. It’s a nice style for summer.

I’m always on the lookout for similar denim styles for less, and I found this pair at Gap Factory. The regular has a 28.5″ inseam, but you can order the short length if you want them to be more cropped, like the pair I’m wearing here.

I wore my white VEJAs with the subtle beige logo and carried a light-colored bag to keep the look light and bright for spring, and my mixed metal earrings are from Victoria Emerson.

These are a really nice pair of everyday earrings. They’re lightweight and small but a little more interesting than a simple pair of hoops or studs, which are my two go-to styles for casual looks.

What to Wear with Cargo Pants This Spring

Utility styles and cargo pants are having a moment right now, so when I was in Miami, I put together a few outfits with my new PAIGE Jolie slim cargo pants to show you what to wear with cargo pants this spring.

I’m a denim girl through and through, but sometimes I want to wear a pair of casual non-denim pants for the sake of variety. That’s when I pull out olive green chinos or cargo pants.

What to Wear with Cargo Pants This Spring 2023PAIGE cargo pants (29) // WHBM tee (S) // Vince sandals (8) // J.Crew hat // Fendi sunglasses (similar for less) // bracelet // earrings // similar necklace // similar belt // NAGHEDI tote

The PAIGE Jolie is similar to the PAIGE Mayslie Joggers I’ve been wearing for years. Who remembers this cargo pants outfit from 2019? It’s one of my all-time favorites!

PAIGE Mayslie Jogger (28) // Tory Burch sandals (8) // old Boden tee // similar denim jacket

Both styles are made from the same vintage-inspired ivy green stretch fabric, but the Jolie has a higher rise and a longer inseam. It’s more of an ankle-length than a cropped pant.

I also find both styles to run a little big, and they stretch some with wear, so I recommend sizing down if in between. I have the 28 in the Mayslie, and I ordered the Jolie in both 28 and 29 to compare, but only the 29 came before my trip, so that’s what I’m wearing here. They’re a little big on me, and I think you will be able to see that. I’m keeping the size 28.

If you want a similar option for less, Evereve has the Payton Utility Pants on sale right now without the cargo pocket on the thigh, which some ladies prefer, and I just ordered these Faherty wide leg pants to try. The Wit & Wisdom Crochet Trim Utility Pants look really cute, and Gap Factory has a pair of Girlfriend Utility Khakis for under $30.

What To Wear With Cargo Pants for Spring 2023

I’ve got a lot of posts on my blog with cargo pants outfits, but here are a few ways I’ll be wearing my cargo pants for spring 2023.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

White Gauze Top & Espadrille Slides

What To Wear With Cargo Pants for Spring 2023: White top & espadrille slidesPAIGE Jolie slim cargo pants (on sale at Bloomingdale’s; also at NordstromAnthro & Zappos) // Faherty gauze top (S) (on sale at Bloomingdale’s; also at Nordstrom & Zappos) // Tory Burch espadrille slides (8) (also at Nordstrom) // similar belt // earrings // bracelet // QUAY sunglasses

There’s something so effortlessly chic about a gauzy white top paired with olive green trousers, and the straw hat and espadrille slides complete the look perfectly.

This top is by Faherty, a family-owned brand known for quality, classic garments at accessible prices. It’s made of 100% organic cotton, and the henley-style placket is a nice detail.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with Faherty Desmond Gauze Top Tory Burch T Monogram Slides

It has short, cuffed sleeves that are sewn to stay in place for a polished look. I love the white, but it also comes in a bunch of other colors, and it’s also on sale today at Bloomingdale’s.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with Faherty Desmond Gauze Top Tory Burch T Monogram Slides

These sandals in the cognac/olive combo seemed like the perfect footwear solution to this outfit. The leather-trimmed jute sole adds the perfect touch of casual elegance to the outfit.

Fun Fact: The Tory Burch T Monogram is a classic pattern inspired by traditional Pennsylvania Dutch quilting. I find this particularly intriguing, since I live so close to this area. In fact, I used to enjoy quilting back in the day!

I ordered these QUAY sunglasses because I wanted to try one of the more angular styles that are trending right now.

They’re fun for a change, and I like how the brown tortoise frames complement the colors in this outfit, but I prefer my square and round frames.

Tank Top & Denim Jacket with Fashion Sneakers

For a super casual look, I love pairing olive green cargo pants with a white tank and topping it off with a denim jacket. I also have this tank in the flame color, and that would be fun with this too. (The flame and magenta colors are on sale!)

This time I cuffed the pants and wore my P448 sneakers to keep the outfit relaxed and comfortable. (That’s my room key in my pocket, in case you were wondering!)

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with white tank and KUT from the Kloth Jacqueline Denim Jacket and P448 sneakers in Miami

I bought these shoes right before my trip, and I wore them on both travel days, and I didn’t have any issues with blisters or soreness. They are such comfortable, well-made sneakers!

Yes, they’re spendy, but as much as I wear them, they’re worth it to me. You can see more of my thoughts about that in my post, Are P448 Sneakers Worth It?

I was drawn to this pair for the clean white leather with textured details, and the subtle silver tipped tongue and gold tab on the heel. They’re perfect for summer, and they’ll go with everything!

A denim jacket is the perfect topper to this casual cargo pants outfit. This one is slightly oversized without looking sloppy, which plays into the current trends.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with white tank and KUT from the Kloth Jacqueline Denim Jacket and P448 sneakers in Miami

Also, I found a bunch of designer sunglasses at Saks OFF 5TH for a steal! They have lots of YSL, as well as some Gucci and Prada and other designer brands.

Stripe Button-Up Shirt & Sandals

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with Caslon stripe button-up shirt and Sam Edelman Griffin Slides in MiamiPAIGE cargo pants (29) (also at NordstromAnthro & Zappos) // Caslon linen blend button-up shirt (M) // Sam Edelman slides (8.5) (also at Bloomies & Zappos) // similar belt // bracelet

I have no idea why we didn’t get more shots of this look, but I only have two pictures. This time, I topped off my olive green cargo pants with a stripe button-up shirt and finished the look with brown slide sandals.

I picked up these Sam Edelman slides on a whim when I was shopping at Nordstrom the day before I left for Miami. I wanted a metallic (and they do come in a metallic) but they didn’t have my size, so I went with the light brown, which worked out just fine. I actually like this shade quite a lot.

The woven upper is soft and comfortable and just a bit stretchy, so they stay on easily when I walk, and the sole has some nice cushion to it as well. They’re very comfortable for a slide.

Stripes and tailored button-up shirts are having a moment right now, and this linen blend button-up by Caslon combines the best of both worlds! I did need to size up to a medium, though, so keep that in mind if ordering.

I love how the stripes pick up on the green in the pants, but this shirt also comes in a solid Flax color, if you prefer. That would also look nice with these pants.

And my brown belt is sold out, but I think it adds an important finishing touch that pulls the outfit together. This one is a nice option, and it comes with gold or silver hardware.

My final look is a simple black and olive outfit. I probably wear black with my olive green pants more than any other color. I just think it’s such a pleasing color combination.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with black tee and Vince Pia wedge mule slides in Miami

This top is from White House Black Market, and I like it so much I also got it in the coral, which seems to be no longer available online. It comes in tons of colors, and it’s a really nice beyond basic t-shirt in a polished rayon/spandex blend.

You can easily dress it up or down, and it layers nicely under jackets but stands on its own beautifully due to the detail at the neckline and sleeves.

This time I wanted to level up the look, so I wore wedge mule sandals and carried my NAGHEDI woven tote. I love this tote for summer, and it’s on sale again at Bloomgindale’s! Mine is the Onyx.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with black tee and Vince Pia wedge mule slides in Miami

And these luxe wedge sandals by Vince were another last minute purchase at Nordstrom right before my trip. I was actually looking for these Vince block heeled sandals in the emerald green or these kitten heel slides in Palm Leaf, but they didn’t have either in my store. (FYI, Nordstrom Rack has the kitten heels on sale in Pinot.)

I ended up settling on this pair because I was drawn to the sculptural stacked wedge heel, and when I slipped them on my feet, the leather strap was so incredibly soft and comfortable.

Slides are always iffy for my flat feet, and I’ve had trouble with Vince slides in the past, but these stay on just fine. I found them very comfortable to walk around in, and I wore them with several outfits on my trip. I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing them a ton this spring and summer.

Jo-Lynne Shane wearing PAIGE Jolie Slim Cargo Pants with black tee, straw hat and NAGHEDI woven tote in Miami

I’m wearing my Fendi sunglasses with the large round black plastic frames with this look (similar here), and I decided to go ahead and wear the straw hat to add another summery accessory.

More Ways to Style Cargo Pants

Of course, there are many more ways to style cargo pants than I’ve shown here. See more ways to wear cargo pants for spring:

Coffee Talk 02.26.23

outfit details

Good morning on this last Sunday of February! It’s hard to believe another month is almost in the books. This one has been full of ups and downs. I had a wonderful trip to Miami with some blogger friends, but while I was gone, we got official confirmation of my younger daughter’s Celiac diagnosis. It was the culmination of several months of testing since she was diagnosed with mono and iron deficiency anemia back in the fall.

It’s not the news we wanted, but we ruled out some other pretty scary things, so I guess we’ll take it.  I appreciate all of you who have reached out with ideas and advice, or even just sympathy.

If you’ve been a friend of my blog for a long time, you probably remember that I used to eat strictly gluten-free. My Celiac biopsy was negative, but I still removed gluten from my diet and found that I felt better. I even was hired to write a gluten free cookbook, back when I used to post lots of recipes on the blog! All that to say, I’m no stranger to gluten-free living, which will help ease this transition somewhat.

While she was disappointed to get the official diagnosis, my daughter is taking it in stride, for the most part. That said, it’s entirely different to decide as an adult to eliminate gluten by choice than to be a teenager forced into it for health reasons. It definitely makes social situations a lot more difficult, but her friends have been wonderfully supportive, and she will learn to speak up and advocate for herself.

In other news, I’m looking forward to having my older daughter home for Spring Break next week. She’s planning to drive again, which makes me nervous, but I keep telling myself she’s building confidence and independence, and that’s the end goal, I suppose! And our son is wrapping up his final semester of college, which is equal parts exciting and terrifying. I can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

I realize this is a short one, but I need to get a move on here. I got bogged down in some backend computer stuff this morning, and now I’ve run out of time to go for a walk. It’s all good, though. It’s supposed to warm up and be pretty here this afternoon, so I’ll go out then.

Enjoy what’s left of your weekend!

Black Jumpsuit Outfit: Night Out in Miami

Hi friends! I’ve got so many pictures from my trip that I decided to go ahead and post today. This is a black jumpsuit outfit I wore out to dinner with friends when we were in Miami.

I love a black jumpsuit outfit for a dressy night out because it has the easy one-and-done benefits of a dress with the comfort of pants!

It’s always nice to come back from a trip like this with a good store of pictures, but sometimes the featured items start selling out before I can get them all out to you, so I’m always eager to start sharing.

This jumpsuit is currently fully stocked, but you never know with LOFT! It’s also 30% off today and it comes in both petite and regular sizes.

It’s made of a super soft and comfortable jersey knit, and it’s great for travel because it packs easily and doesn’t wrinkle too badly. I gave it a good steam before I left and then carefully folded it flat in one of my packing cubes. I hung it up in the hotel closet when I arrived, and it was ready to wear when I wanted it!

It has a flattering v-neck and cap sleeves, and the wide legged silhouette is flowy and flattering.

I also like the way it ties at the waist, and you can place the knot wherever you want it; I tied it off to the side.

There’s an easy button closure at the back of the neck, so it’s easy to get off and on, even when you need to… ahem… use the facilities.

I’m wearing these Wacoal shaping shorts to keep everything smooth underneath. They’re fully stocked at Macy’s but on sale at Bloomingdale’s. I also wear these under all my white jeans and pants, so I have several pairs.

I kept the look simple with strappy beige sandals. I absolutely love these! We had to do a fair bit of walking that night to get to the restaurant, and my feet felt fine. The flared heel is only 2 3/4″ high, and the tubular straps are soft and comfortable against the foot.

I accessorized with a delicate silvertone layered necklace (similar here) and dangly silvertone orbital earrings.

My silver multi-strand bracelet and two-tone watch are on the spendier side, as they were both Christmas gifts from my husband. I linked up similar styles under the picture below, as well as for my YSL wallet on chain.

What to Wear: Beach Vacation Day to Night

As you all know, I just got back from a 5-day trip to Miami Beach, so I put together a post with some outfit inspiration in case you have a beach vacation coming up this spring or summer. I’ve got four outfits that will easily take you from day to night, and you can fit them all in your carry-on!

When I’m on a warm weather vacation, I spend most of my days by the pool or at the beach, so I like to have a variety of swimwear and coverup options. This black one piece swimsuit by Miraclesuit is both chic and practical… perfect for spending the day poolside, which is my favorite way to spend a day on vacation!

I love the unique design at the neckline, and it’s super comfortable, while sucking you in and holding everything in place. Miraclesuit swimuits can be a challenge to pull up and down, but the slimming effect is worth it!

I’m wearing my regular size 8, and it fits perfectly, but a lot of women like to size up in this brand, so keep that in mind when ordering.

Miraclesuit one piece (8) // Sea Level stripe coverup (S) // Tory Burch Millers (8) // similar tote // similar sunnies

The top of this swimsuit is so lovely, I didn’t want to cover it up, so I wore a simple mesh sarong in a black and white stripe to go to and from the pool. It was also perfect for grabbing lunch at the poolside bar. I felt covered up but also cool and comfortable in the heat.

Another great daytime look for the pool or beach is this white ribbed one piece swimsuit by Sea Level with a mosaic-inspired print sarong.

I’ve never had a white swimsuit before, and I don’t know why. I love how fresh and crisp and clean it looks, and the way it sets off the printed coverup. This one has a ribbed texture, plus it’s fully lined so there’s no show through, even when wet.

In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge fan of a sarong. This one is longer than the striped one above, so it offers more coverage for those who prefer that. Plus, the colors in it are gorgeous, and I think the long length is rather elegant.

If you decide to go shopping or out to lunch, a casual dress is the perfect solution. It packs down to almost nothing in your suitcase, and you can wear it with the same flat sandals you wear to the beach or pool to save packing room.

I don’t wear a lot of dresses, so this sleeveless shift was a happy surprise when I happened across it at Nordstrom. I love the sleeveless design with a narrow v-neck and raw curved hemline.

It also has pockets! It’s the perfect knee-length, and it runs true to size. I’m wearing the size small.

I always pack a jean jacket to wear over my dresses and t-shirts on vacation for any venues that might be chilly, and this KUT from the Kloth Jacqueline goes with everything! It has a versatile mid-indigo wash and a bit of stretch for added comfort.

When it’s time for a fancy dinner out, a flowy floral dress with metallic heels is the perfect solution.

floral drape neck dress (8) (similar option) // Sam Edelman ankle strap sandals (8) // Coach leather handbag // similar earrings // similar bracelet

My exact dress is low inventory, but this one is pretty much the same, just with a different print. I actually have that one too!

I love this lavender floral print and the non-wrinkle fabric. It’s perfect for travel because you can literally ball it up and stuff it into a corner of your suitcase, and it comes out looking like new. It runs true to size, or size down if in between; the small fits me perfectly.

I’ve had these sandals for over a year, and they’re my go-to for dresses and dressy pants outfits because the strappy style and gold metallic leather is so feminine and flattering and goes with absolutely everything.

The cylindrical heel is a fun detail, and the ankle strap styling offers stability and comfort, making them great for events that require a lot of walking and standing.

Having several go-to shoe and handbag combos that go together without being too matchy-matchy is key to looking polished and put together, and my ivory pebbled leather Coach handbag is the perfect complement for the gold leather sandals.

This is a great look for dinner out on vacation, Easter Sunday, or an afternoon wedding this spring.

As always, when you shop at Nordstrom, you get their free shipping and free returns. And don’t forget about their BOPUS (Buy Online Pick Up in Store) and contactless curbside pickup options.

And if you aren’t already a Nordy Club member, be sure to sign up so you can start earning points toward Nordstrom Notes when you shop. You also get to enjoy exclusive perks like members-only access to sales, offers, and events — like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which will be here again before we know it!

Swim Cover-Ups Under $100

A few weeks ago, I shared my 2023 Swimsuit Guide with the latest trends and tons of swimsuits for women over 40, and today we’re going to talk about what to put on top of your swimsuit!

outfit details

Most women put a lot of time and energy into finding the perfect swimsuit, but when it comes to the cover-up, they just grab the closest thing they can find to throw on top.

I look at swim cover-ups kind of like coats and jackets. What’s on top of your outfit is the first thing people see, and in many situations, you don’t even take it off. So don’t neglect your cover-up! In fact, I probably have more cover-ups to choose from than I do swimsuits.

Whether you’re an active beach bum or lounging by the resort swimming pool, I’ve rounded up a bunch of cute cover-ups under $100 to make you feel and look great going from beach to bar and everywhere in between.

2023 Spring Wardrobe Essentials

Happy Monday, friends! Last week was Spring Trends Week here on the the blog, and we discussed the biggest and most wearable trends for spring 2023. Today I’m updating my Spring Wardrobe Essentials. I republish this post every year around this time, and while it doesn’t change a lot from year to year, I like to update it with current links and fresh thoughts.

Spring Wardrobe Essentials for 2023outfit details

First, let’s define our terms. Trends are basically new interpretations of styles we’ve seen before. They develop slowly over a period of years and fade away as new trends come on the scene. They usually come back around again, but not for 5–10 years, and usually in a somewhat altered version.

Fads, on the other hand, pop up suddenly and disappear just as quickly. They are usually embraced by the younger generation and tend to be exaggerated and impractical.

I think it’s helpful to differentiate between trends and fads because women often get them confused. As I get older, I keep an eye on the trends in order to keep my style current, but I tread lightly when it comes to fads.

Essentials are different. These are the pieces that provide a foundation for your wardrobe, and that’s what we are talking about today!

Wardrobe essentials vary from person to person, so I like to discuss them in terms of categories, rather than specific pieces. The items and styles you chose may change a bit from year to year, as they’re influenced by the current trends, your personal style preferences, body type, and lifestyle; but the wardrobe categories remain the same.

OUTFIT DETAILS: Click each picture for full outfit details!

1. White Jeans or Pants

Spring Wardrobe Essentials: White Denim Mother The Hustler Ankle Fray

You can wear white jeans year-round these days, but I find myself reaching for mine most during the spring and summer months. They’re crisp and clean, and they pair perfectly with bright colors as well as other neutrals. This spring, ecru and other shades of off-white are trending as well.

If you don’t wear jeans, white pants work just as well. And I realize some ladies don’t like white pants or jeans at all, and that’s fine. You can skip this wardrobe category if it doesn’t work for you, but many women rely on white bottoms as an integral part of their spring/summer wardrobes. I am one of those women, and this is my list, so here we are!

Shop My Favorite White Denim:

2. Cropped Jeans & Pants

Spring Wardrobe Essentials: Crop Pants Spanx Stretch Twill Cropped Wide Leg Pants

I wear jeans all year-round, but I prefer cropped or ankle length styles in the spring and summer because they’re cooler and they just look more seasonal. They’re also very on-trend at the moment, although full-length pants and jeans are making a comeback, so pretty much anything goes right now.

Speaking of anything goes, all styles are available as well, so wear what you like best. The wide leg crop is having a moment, so this is a great time to lean into this style, if it appeals to you. Cropped straight leg jeans and crop flares (a.k.a. kick crops or kick flares) are also big right now, and if you prefer skinnies, you can find them too. I like to have some of each.

And if you’re confused about pant styles, you may like this post: Women’s Pant Styles and Hem Lengths Demystified.

Shop Crop Jeans & Pants:

3. Layering Tees & Tanks

Layering tees are one of my most worn Spring Wardrobe Essentials!ATM Slub Jersey Schoolboy V-Neck T-Shirt

Layering tees provide the foundation for most of my spring outfits. They pair well with all types of pants, and skirts. I like to layer my t-shirts under utility jackets or moto jackets when I wear jeans, and under denim jackets when I wear khakis or cargo pants. It’s nice to have a variety of prints and solids, and graphic tees are fun to have as well.

Shop Tees & Tanks:

4. Lightweight Tops & Blouses

Evereve Larissa Eyelet Top

Lightweight tops and blouses are the perfect replacement for your cozy sweaters when the weather starts to warm up. They can stand alone with your favorite denim, pants, and skirts; and many can be layered under blazers and denim jackets.

I like to have some sleeveless shells for that purpose, whereas the gorgeous magenta eyelet top I’m wearing above stands alone beautifully for work, church, or dinners out in the spring and summer.

Shop Spring Tops & Blouses:

5. Cotton Sweaters

Stripes for Spring!

When March rolls around, even if it’s still cold, I start putting away my wool and cashmere sweaters and wearing more lightweight knits. I also find myself wearing more cardigans this time of year. They can often be a substitute for a lightweight jacket, and I don’t have the outerwear issue to deal with when the weather gets warmer.

Shop Spring Sweaters:

6. Denim Jacket + Other Lightweight Jackets

KUT from the Kloth Jacqueline Denim Jacket

Denim jackets, blazers, and utility jackets make the perfect lightweight toppers for your t-shirts and blouses in the springtime. Having a variety of jackets in your closet is key to having complete outfits at the ready when you’re getting dressed for your day.

A structured denim jacket has long been a staple in my spring/summer wardrobe, but I’m seeing more varieties of denim jackets this year than I have in along time. Oversized styles and fray hems are trending, but I’m also seeing a lot of crop styles, which work well with wide leg pant silhouettes to highlight your waist. And the traditional cuts are still fine to wear.

Shop Denim & Spring Jackets:

7. Transition Shoes: Loafers, Mules, Ballet Flats

Nordstrom Leather Ballet Flat

When it’s not warm enough for open sandals but you’re tired of wearing boots, loafers and ballet flats are a great footwear option for spring. As pant styles evolve, so does footwear, and this year we are seeing platform loafers still going strong, as well as the return of ballet flats and Mary Janes.

If you live in a warmer climate, and you’re ready to start breaking out your sandals, wedges, slides, platform heels, kitten heels, and strappy sandals are all on trend right now. See more Spring Shoe Trends for 2023!

8. Fashion Sneakers

P448 John Sneaker in Peony

Sneakers continue to be a huge trend in footwear this season, and you can wear them with everything from dresses to jeans. Popular styles run the gamut from retro runners and trainers to court sneakers, and skate sneakers to the clean white kicks.

High tops are also having a moment this season. Believe it or not, even athletic styles are on trend right now, as well as chunky tube socks. It’s all about making it look intentional and not like you injured your foot and have to wear orthopedic shoes for 6 weeks, haha!

9. Spring Dresses

Splendid Joella Sleeveless Dress

A lot of women say they live in dresses in the spring in summer. I don’t wear a lot of dresses, but I like to have a few options on hand for events that may crop up.

This spring, florals are having a moment, and I’m seeing lots of flowy styles with ruffles and embellishments. Midi-length styles and long, voluminous looks are in, as are the body-con knit styles. Personally, I love a classic sheath. At the end of the day, you have to wear what works for you.

Shop Spring Dresses:

10. Rain Jacket or Trench

Gap Factory Cotton Trench

Having proper outerwear for the various events in your life is an important part of having a workable wardrobe and looking polished and put together, so even while I don’t find these purchases as fun as shoes and clothes, they are necessary.

My go-to piece of outerwear in the springtime is a trench coat like the one above, and I also like to have a few more casual rain-resistant jackets. Neutrals are always a safe choice, but I’m also loving all the bright colors out there this spring.

Shop Spring Outerwear:

11. Everyday Handbag

NAGHEDI St. Barths Medium Woven Tote

Straw totes and woven bags are so summery and fun, and they’re still going strong this season, but I’m seeing a shift away from the slouchy styles. More structured totes are where handbag trends are headed right now. If you add one bag to your spring/summer wardrobe, make it a structured straw or woven style.

Style Tip: Make sure you have a good shoe pairing or two to go with any new new handbag purchase!

From here, you can fill in with some trendier styles and statement pieces, but these wardrobe staples should provide a good foundation for your spring wardrobe.

Coffee Talk 02.19.23

outfit details

Good morning, friends! It’s been a while since I took the time to write a Coffee Talk for the blog. This is one of those posts I write on the fly, so if I don’t get up early enough on Sunday morning to put some coherent thoughts together, I just send out my email with the week’s top sellers and a brief greeting.

If you aren’t already an email subscriber, and you enjoy following my blog, be sure to check it out! Not only do I send out a link to the daily blog post as soon as it’s published, I also round up daily finds from various retailers that I think you might like, share sale alerts, and more. Plus, I usually share a little about what is going on in my life that day, so it makes the whole blog-reading experience a little more personal.

There’s a daily and a weekly option, so if you don’t want to hear from me every single day, you can just sign up for the Saturday Weekly Recap. It includes a recap of the week’s posts, a Weekend Sale Round-Up, as well as a Q&A where I answer reader questions that are submitted throughout the week. YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR EMAILS HERE.

So yeah, this has been quite a week, with my trip to Miami tucked in there. I pretty much shared everything about that yesterday in my post about what I wore, but suffice it to say, it was wonderful to get away to somewhere warm and connect with other women who do what I do. I know I say this every time I get together with other bloggers, but this is a very solitary job as well as an unconventional one, and it’s so nice to be with other women who get it.

Tania // Jen // Lindsey

When we weren’t shooting pictures (which was the majority of the time) we either did computer work (social media never sleeps!) or met up for a meal. That’s where we were able to really talk and collaborate and share insights and methods, and yes, even vent a little bit, haha!

It’s been a bit of a rude awakening to be back here in Philly, where it’s quite chilly, but after one day of rain, we’ve had beautiful sunny skies, so I’ll take it! I know that spring is on the horizon because the days are getting longer and the light in my bedroom is better, haha!

Speaking of which, I did a ton of try-ons yesterday because several of my orders didn’t come in before I left, which was a bummer. I guess I need to plan another trip! I’ll do my best to get a try-on haul up this week.

Also, Alison surprised me by sending all my retouched pictures from Miami back last night! Not only is she an excellent photographer, but she’s so quick with the turn-around, which I always appreciate. The picture at the top of this post is a sneak peek.

By the way, the white tank I’m wearing there is on sale, and it’s my favorite because it’s so nice and thick and soft and not at all see-through. It has a good bit of stretch, but it isn’t so body-conscious that it hugs every lump and bump. It makes the perfect layer under shirts like that one or a denim jacket, and it also stands alone nicely due to the bra-friendly straps.

Also, this is a great similar for less version of the Rails button-up I’m wearing. I brought it to Miami and photographed it, as well, so that post is coming soon! I’ll spend tomorrow going through all my pictures and planning out blog posts and social media content.

I was inspired by the other ladies I was with to do more with my Instagram Stories and Facebook Page. I get lazy… or rather, I spend so much time on the blog that I hardly have time left for that, but it’s important to my business to keep up with those channels as well. The blog will always be my bread and butter, so to speak, but I want to do better about keeping up with the other platforms as well.

Alright, I’m off to get ready for church! Have a blessed Sunday!
