Back to School Fashions at Ross Dress For Less

Back to School season is fast approaching, and Ross has you covered with a great selection of clothes, shoes, and backpacks at affordable prices.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but school days aren’t far off. In fact, we just got an email from our school district with the dreaded school supplies lists.

I admit, I have a love/hate relationship with Back to School season. On one hand, I love getting a fresh start with brand new clothes and school supplies, and I like the routine the school year provides. I even enjoy the crisp fall weather and the promise of the holidays ahead. But summer is by far and away my favorite season of the year, and it is far too short, in my humble opinion. In my perfect world, we would get an extra few months of the warm weather and lazy days of summer. Then I’d be much more enthusiastic about the school days ahead.

But we can’t stop time, and like it or not, school days are quickly approaching. Stores are stocking up with school supplies and fall clothes, and as a Ross Dress For Less Bargain Hunter, I’ve already been scoping out the goods. In fact, before we left for vacation, I got a head start on back to school shopping for my girls.

C is 12, and she’s recently begun moving into the junior’s department for her clothes, so we were thrilled to see that Ross has a large selection of junior clothing. She picked out several tops and a pair of black twill skinnies, which fit her like a glove. She will get a lot of wear out of these this year.

We stuck to short sleeves for now because the weather will be warm for a few more months. This #selfie tee is one of her favorites. This one actually came from the children’s section. She can shop in both junior’s and children’s at the moment, which is a nice perk to being a tween.

Another top she loves is this elephant swing top. She’s actually been cheating and wearing it while we’re on vacation. Usually I make the kids keep their school clothes unworn until school starts, but this is so cute on her, I didn’t have the heart to put it away.

She’s wearing women’s shoes now and wears the same size I do. I KNOW! It’s crazy. She picked out two pairs of neutral ballet flats at Ross. This kid loves ballet flats. She wears them with everything from dresses to jeans to pants to shorts all year round, so I was thrilled to find a great selection in her size.

R is 9, and she will head back to school in these dark skinny jeans and this sweet pink top. As an added bonus, the necklace came with the top. Her light-up cheetah backpack is also from Ross.

She chose several other t-shirts as well, like this little owl tee.

Our total back-to-school shopping trip came to $188.05, and it included 4 pairs of shoes, 2 pants, 1 backpack, and 8 tops. That’s a pretty good start!

Not surprisingly, the girls have mixed feelings about going back to school, but I know that they’ll get caught up in the excitement when the time comes. 1. A new Ross opened in my town and we wandered in yesterday when we were at a store next door. I was very happily surprised at the juniors selection and prices as well. I got 3 tops for my 13 year old daughter for $21 total and they were all super cute. I hadn’t thought of Ross for my daughters clothes either but will definitely be going back.

    1. Same here. She loves everything I got for her there, and we’ll be going back for more once school starts and the weather cools down. I like their juniors section a lot.

  2. Your girls are lovely! I know they probably get their great fashion sense from you. Thanks for this awesome post! I love back-to-school season! Probably because fall and football season is my favorite.

  3. I teach 5th grade and used to teach 6th and 7th…I’m so happy to see you girls dress appropriately! Our Ross is sometimes hit or miss, but I’ve found some great stuff there for myself!

  4. You found some great stuff for back to school! I love both the pants, in particular. And the owl shirt is too cute. Of course, can’t beat the prices at Ross!

  5. Cute outfits for your girls. 🙂 I love back to school time. Fall is my favorite season, and I love buying school/office supplies. I’ve never done specific back to school clothes, we just bought things as needed when the kids were in public school. Now we homeschool- in Congo- shorts & t-shirts year round. My daughter (who is now 12) only did Kindergarten in North America. I’m sure she would be totally into back to school shopping now!

  6. Your girls are so pretty! My daughter just turned 11 and I never thought to shop at Ross for her. Will definitely go check it out. Thanks for always giving such great tips!

    1. You know, I hadn’t either, till I started working with them. I’d been there for me – they have a great selection of dresses. But I never thought to check out the juniors department. We will definitely be checking in regularly now.
