Be It Ever So Humble…

After 12-1/2 hours, 7 states, 580 miles, 5 potty stops, 4 coffees, 1 traffic delay, 6 podcasts, 2 playlists, and countless books, we’re HOME!!!!!!!

The car is unpacked, the kids are already playing with their neighborhood friends, and I am in hog heaven with my high speed Internet connection.   Life is good.

I do have one rant question, though.  WHY would ANY one take a trip up the east coast without EZPass?  WHY?  Stop the madness!  The only traffic delays we had on either end of our trip were at the toll plazas.  The EZPass-Only lanes were always open, and the other lanes were a glut of confused, frustrated drivers trying to avoid the EZPass-Only lanes and keeping those of us with EZPasses from getting to the EZPass-Only lanes.

SO unnecessary.  SO maddening.

And one more thing.  If the EZPass-Only lanes were all placed on the far left and right, it would make everything SO much simpler.  Okay, rant over.

I think there’s a pepperoni pizza calling my name.  After two weeks without my favorite comfort food, I do believe I’m starting to twitch.

  1. HA. We STILL have our EZPass thingies on both cars. Wonder if they’ll ever come off?

Had a laugh over your pedicure comments. I think I need to make myself an appt.

  2. Just got back from a week in Ocean City.  Last Saturday and again today, there were only TWO EZ Pass lanes on the AC Expressway.  Not dedicated EZ Pass lanes but two lanes that accepted EZ Pass at all.  I couldn’t believe it!  Ugh.

  3. Welcome home. Don’t even get me started on the tolls.

I live in NC where we have zero tolls. We drive twice a year to Massachusetts and the tolls drive me crazy! EZPass or not, I just get tired of paying for roads and bridges that were paid for years ago!

I guess it’s still cheaper than flying! 🙂

  8. I have often wondered why people do not have EZPass as well. The only reason I can think of if they really do not want to give a credit card/debit to have it auto billed when needed. Mind you there are other ways around this. My only new complaint about EZPass is that they now charge a maintenance fee for just owning and not even using it each month. Seems like that is getting us a little too much. Oh well, still not giving mine up it saves us way too much time, especially on the bridges that we travel on.

  9. Welcome Back!! I can’t believe you drove 12 1/2 hours in a car with 3 kids. My hat goes off to you!
