Best Drugstore Beauty Buys

If I had to name one good thing that has come out of this global pandemic, it would have to be the plethora of Buy Online, Pickup In-Store options that are now available at my favorite stores and restaurants.

This is the best thing since sliced bread for those of us who are hermits and prefer to do our shopping online but want our orders right away. When Covid is history, I hope these curbside pickup options remain because you can’t beat the convenience.

The newest retailer to offer Same Day Order Pickup is Walgreens — that’s right, your friendly neighborhood drugstore. Whether you just ran out of dishwashing detergent, your go-to pain reliever, or your favorite mascara, it’s easy and free to order online at Walgreens and pick it up the same day.

I rounded up some of our favorite drugstore beauty buys that are available at Walgreens, in case you want to try it out.

I solicited my 18-year-old daughter, C’s help for this post because she’s always watching YouTube videos and trying out new drugstore brands. Some of these are her picks, and some are mine, but they’ve all been personally tested by one of us and are tried and true.

See anything you need? Just order online at Walgreens.com and opt for Pickup in the Shopping Cart. (Be sure to select the store of your choice in the dropdown menu on the left.)

Walgreens will notify you when your order is ready, and it could be in as little as 30 minutes. Then head on over and get your order curbside, at the drive-through, or in store — whichever you prefer!

And as an added incentive, Walgreens is offering an extra 25% off Pickup Orders of $40+ through January 30th using code WELLNESS25! Let me know if you try it, and how it works for you.

  1. Thanks for sharing these. It will be fun to try some new (and inexpensive) items while at home.

I’ve used the Almay eye makeup remover pads for years because they are easy to travel with.

  2. Thanks! Definitely going to try out at least two of these, the curl definer and the Elf camo. But what does eyebrow gel do?? 😊

  3. Hi! Thanks for this great post! I use a mix of drugstore/grocery store and higher end beauty products. I enjoy trying different products too, so there are a few on this list that I want to try! I like the milani blush, the No 7 setting powder and the chi heat protectant spray too – these are items I’ve bought several times, and keep coming back to. I also like trying inexpensive things – such a highlighter and bronzer to see if they are something I will actually wear on a regular basis, before I invest in the higher quality item. Great post – thank you!

  4. Thanks for the list! I use the NYX eyebrow gel all the time and love it. Been wanting to try the Neutrogena hydro boost line, so thanks for recommending.
The No7 cream has a few kinds of parabens in it. I started using it, liked the texture and feel, then I did a search on Think Dirty and found out it has bad ingredients. In the garbage it went.

  5. Great post! I love discovering good products at lower prices. I’m a Cerave fan and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel cream is my all-time favorite. I use it morning and night and love the weightless feel of it.

    1. Good to know! i have been using the Hydro Boost hand cream and love it but hadn’t tried the face cream. Caroline is pretty discerning, though, and I’ve learned to trust her advice on these matters. 🙂

  6. My husband despises anything with a scent. He swears by the Cerave and Cremo. He also shuns multiple blade razors, primarily because shave cream seems to gum up the works, so to speak. He uses Atra I think.

I have the Almay pads in my motorhome bathroom where hot running water is scarce. I really like them plus when the little jar is empty it’s perfect for stashing q-tips or cotton balls and I made an emergency sewing kit from one. I love repurposing stuff especially if it’s a cute little white jar!

Someone asked about brow gel. If you don’t need to add color to your brows, it’s great to just ‘comb’ them into place. I bought some fancy stuff from a doctor in Los Angeles that purports to make them grow without prostaglandins. It seems to work. I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis which periodically makes me lose the outer third of my brows. Gel really helps, especially the tinted version, but I use clear frequently. Since I have nearly albino lashes I have to use mascara on upper and lower both or else look really stupid, so I use a clear brow gel over my mascara on the bottom. It helps it from smearing.

  7. Thank you for all these suggestions. Like to throw some inexpensive options into my routine. I have never recommended any beauty product that I think is so great that I would never buy anything else, until now. Found at Sephora, Farmacy Green Clean makeup meltaway is unbelieveable!! Mascara just melts away and the smell is great too.

  8. Some of these I already use. The Ponds cold cream is an oldy but goody! Love to use it to take off my makeup and how it leaves my face feeling. I had stopped for awhile and my 75 year old neighbor who has the youngest and most beautiful skin told me she uses it and now I’m back using it each night. I can’t wait to try the Nailtiques nail strengthener. I recently took off my acrylic nails and they are very week. Thank you for all the great suggestions!
