Top Ten in October

Greetings, friends! November is in full swing, and I’m finally getting around to posting October’s Top 10.

Top 10 in October: my ten most popular blog posts and retail products from the month of October!

I always like to take some time to look back and reflect on the previous month and see what resonated most with you all, so these are my ten most popular blog posts and retail products from the month of October!

TOP 10 POSTS IN OCTOBER 2019

You know the drill. Based on Google Analytics, these were my top 10 posts from last month. I’m listing these in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular post last.

Spoiler Alert: More than half are try-on hauls and daily outfit posts. *shocker*

Let’s get started!

#10. How to Wear Crop Pants in the Winter // I’m glad this post ranked. I really love this outfit. While not everyone loves the cropped straight jeans, you can easily sub your favorite skinny jeans or black trousers with this look.

Everyday Fall Outfits

#9. Daily Looks: What I Wore // Always some of my most popular posts, I share what I’m wearing each day, and I try to give some tips and reasons behind why I put things together the way I did.

Shop Your Closet: 25 Fall Outfit Ideas to copy right now

#8. 25 Fall Outfit Ideas // This post went over really well, and I’m so glad! Lots of good fall outfit ideas in here, if you’re in need of some.

My Daily Looks: What I Wore Lately

#7. Daily Looks: What I Wore // Yes, once again, both What I Wore posts were in the Top 10 this month.

Fall Try-On Haul: Nordstrom, Madewell & LOFT

#6. Try-On Haul: Nordstrom, Madewell & LOFT // And then I think all but one Try On Haul ranked.

#5. Try On Haul: Nordstrom, Madewell, Old Navy, J.Crew Factory, Anthro & Amazon // This was a big one! Most of this stuff is still available, so if you missed it, you may want to take a look.

Fall 2019 Try On Haul: Everlane, LOFT, Nordstrom & Madewell // Fall Fashion for Women over 40

#4. Try On Haul: LOFT, Nordstrom, Everlane + Madewell // Another post with a lot of great fashion finds that are still available.

Ironically, the top THREE posts last month were not published last month. How crazy is that?

Usually I do not include posts that weren’t published the month I’m recapping, but this time I thought it was fitting to do so because they’re still relevant, and they were the clear winners for the month.

#3. Fall Wardrobe Essentials // This was just published in August, so it’s still fairly new. Let me know if you’d like me to update my Winter Wardrobe Essentials post, or if it’s good enough as is.

Not much has changed, but I usually at least update my links and recommendations.

#2. How to Wear Cardigans Without Looking Frumpy // This one is perennially popular, and most of its traffic comes from Pinterest, so thanks if you pinned it!

I recently updated with current links and style tips, so I hope it’s helpful!

How to Wear Ankle Boots for 2019 with real life examples! How to style ankle boots with skinny jeans, straight jeans, bootcut jeans, leggings, and dresses!

#1. How To Wear Ankle Boots // This post hearkens back to like 2015 or something, and I just keep updating it! It gets most of its traffic from Google searches. In fact, a few casual acquaintances have discovered my blog this way. Haha!

It was also just recently updated, so it should have all current links.

Okay, moving on to popular products…

TOP 10 PRODUCTS IN OCTOBER 2019

Based on my ShopStyle analytics, these were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels during the month of October.

#10. Amazon Essentials Sherpa-Lined Fleece Hoodie // This hoodie is so cozy and warm, great for casual outdoor events like ball games and fall festivals, and under $30! I got the medium for a little extra room, but it’s pretty much TTS.

also wearing: NYC tee, Mother Looker skinnies, Veja Esplar sneakers

#9. Vince Camuto Jean Jacket // This denim jacket went on sale for like the first time ever, and a bunch of you must have snapped it up!

#8. Old Navy Rib-Knit V-Neck Sweater // C joined me for a couple posts this month, and her Old Navy sweater was a big hit! It really is a nice quality for the price point, it comes in a bunch of colors, and it’s only $15 today!

#7. Free People Sienna Snap Cuff Cotton Blend Tee // I’ve been wearing this top at least once a week since I got it. I love it for this mild fall weather we’ve been having.

#6. LOFT Floral Mixed Media Tie Neck Shell // One of my favorite fall fashion finds, this top looks great alone as well as layered under a moto jacket, denim jacket, or cardigan. There are a couple sizes left, and it’s TTS. I have the small.

#5. LOFT Blossom Ruffle Cuff V-Neck Blouse // Another pretty floral top from LOFT, this one has long sleeves, so it will take you a little further into fall. This one was restocked, it’s TTS, and it’s 40% off today!

#4. LOFT Hoodie Sweater // This hooded sweater is really soft and it has a nice fit — an elevated but sporty top that pairs perfectly with jeans and fashion sneakers. It runs TTS, and it’s als0 40% off today!

#3. J.Crew Factory Zoe Calf Hair d’Orsay Flats // Shoes don’t often make it into the Top 10, but these are #3! They’re a great price, and a nice way to add pattern and texture to an outfit.

FYI, they are usually cheaper than they are today. I’m not sure why this print is so high right now ($99) but don’t get them till they go back on sale. The leopard print version is $69 tho.

also wearing: DL1961 High Waist Crop Fray Step Hem Skinny Jeans

#2. J.Crew Factory Leopard Teddie Sweater // Leopard is a huge trend this fall, and this sweater keeps it classy. It’s a pretty good price too!

also wearing: O-ring belt, Mother Insider crop jeans, similar leather jacket, black satchel

And in first place . . .  drum roll please! 🥁

#1. J.Crew NYC Tee // You guys really love this tee! It was way ahead of the next runner up. It’s currently 30% off with code FRIENDS or 40% off for J.Crew Rewards members with code FAMILY. For size reference, I have the medium.

If you have this tee, don’t put it away with your summer clothes. Layer it under a cozy cardigan, and it’s prefect for chilly fall days!

See how I wore it with a camel cardigan here:

So that’s a wrap!

  1. I love the try-on hauls, what you really wear, and how to. This seem more “real” to me in terms of what I can wear. Often I can find something similar either in my closet or on sale, and then I can add an item or two. The how to posts are so helpful to me as I have a hard time putting items together to make an outfit. I’ll have to revisit your updated how to posts. Just an overall thank you for your blog; you (and Cyndi and Kay) have really helped me feel better about myself. It is definitely what is on the inside that counts, but when we feel good on the outside, it changes one’s perspective (for the better.)

  2. It fun taking a look back and seeing what your most popular posts were!  And yes, there were a lot of great ideas for me, especially for using what is already in my closet.  Have a great day!

  3. Top posts or pieces are my favorite types of posts. I love hearing what’s popular with people because it’s such a true reflection of what the REAL trends are, not just what the media and fashion industry tells us. I ADORE those JCrew dark brown half hair d’Orsay flats. I tried them on but they didn’t fit my big fat feet. So sad! They look great on you tho! You’ve got lots of amazing content going on here, Lady.

  4. Great post! I read your blog every day, but I enjoyed looking back at the boot post and the Fall guide! In August it was in the 90’s. Still warm, but a cold front is coming. YAY!!!!

  5. I’m wearing the Loft Mixed Media tie neck shell to teach a class today! Wearing it with Rag and Bone Cate dark blue skinnies (from the NA sale) and a dark blue open cardigan from Old Navy.

  6. I love my NYC t-shirt. I wear it with a black leather jacket or cardigan. Thanks for the inspiration, Jo-Lynne! 😀

  7. Every time I see you post an outfit with the JCrew NYC tee,  I think how much I like it and how versatile it is!! So today, I finally ordered it!! Can’t wait for it to arrive! I especially love it paired with the amazon grey hoodie and the camel cardigan!

  8. Would like to see style for short people. I am four feet ten inches and wear size 10. When I sop the best clothes are for taller ladies. I want to look classy and in style. Help us vertical challenge people in our 50’s or older. I do want to look like a old lady. Thank you DB
