Are y’all getting whiplash yet? One day it’s a summer outfit, the next day it’s fall, then it’s back to summer. I KNOW. This is a crazy time of year for the fashion industry.
There is still a lot of summer left, so while I’ll be sharing some fall looks here and there to help you plan ahead, I’m going to continue showing summer outfits as well for a while.

I picked up this layered tank at White House Black Market a few weeks ago. I’m a huge fan of their layered tops because there’s no need for a cami or under layer, and you really don’t even need shapewear. They’re easy to throw on and go. It’s a bit on the pricey side at $68, but I expect it to go on sale before too long. I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know.
In other news, my white ribbed asymmetrical top IS on sale for $37, and there are lots of other cute pieces at White House Black Market that are marked down 40% off their sale prices.
This particular top is simple but sophisticated. You can dress it up or down, depending on the occasion, and it will make a great transition piece as we head into fall. You can easily throw a fitted jacket or cardigan on top for a completely different look.
The under layer is a soft knit that feels great against the skin, and the top drapes gently over the body without clinging. FYI, it also comes in white.
I paired the top with my favorite white skinnies and accessorized with a stone tassel necklace. I like the subtle blue and green hues in the stone set in light gold against the black top. Then I added my Stella & Dot Stone Tile Ring and a gold cuff bracelet.
Neutral wedge sandals and a leopard bag complete this easy summer look. I’m super excited to see that Nordstrom has brought this Sole Society foldover leopard clutch back!!!!! It’s only $39 and SUCH a great piece to have in your closet. If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for long, I’m sure you’ve seen how often I carry this.
These shoes are only available in black, but they are on sale, and they are some of my most comfortable wedge sandals. I linked to a similar pair of nude sandals below as well as a similar clutch.
I would wear this outfit to church, out to lunch with girlfriends, or on a date with my husband. For a more casual look, I’ll pair this layered tank with jean shorts or cuffed blue jeans and flat sandals. I love how versatile it is.

Now let’s talk fabric care for a sec. Clothing is an investment so I take great pains to care for my wardrobe properly so it lasts as long as possible and is in good condition for resale. I always read the labels and hang things up or lay them out flat to dry if instructed. I’m not a fan of the iron, but I use it when I have to — especially when I’m going to do a photo shoot. I’ve learned the hard way that the camera is not forgiving when it comes to wrinkles.

Love this outfit, JoLynne. The top is so pretty. I like the fact that it looks layered, but you didn’t have to actually put two pieces together as it is already done for you. You look great as always! I used to use starch all the time. But I had been having issues with scorching some of the finer silky fabrics so I purchased a steamer a couple of months ago. I LOVE IT! I used to hate ironing too and wasn’t very good at it. The steamer I actually find fun and use it almost every day! It’s super quick and easy to do. I bought a stand up one that has a hanger already affixed to it and feel like it’s been a fantastic investment. You can’t get creases with it if you want those, you still need the iron. But otherwise it’s been a godsend and shaved off time in the mornings for me getting ready. I have even been wearing clothes that I’ve had but never wore simply because of the ironing factor.
It’s on the shopping list!

I like the tip about using hairspray to get ballpoint pen ink stains out.
Cant beat classic black & white! And you wear it well! Love my spray starch! You can tell I’m a Baby Boomer if I know all about ironing! I love to iron! I iron my husband work shirts, using Faultless spray starch. We’re not talking work shirts, as in go to the office shirts, we’re talking his flannel & chamois shirts he uses for his part time surveying. And tablecloths, my pillow cases……LOL! I have a steamer as well, and that works great for a quick touch up.

I have used Faultless starch for years. It’s the only brand I will buy. I am currently teaching my teenaged boys to iron their dress shirts and I am going to use the Faultless’ How to Iron a Shirt video to help teach them.
Lovely top! I like the layered look – when I don’t have to create the layers.
I still iron, but I also love My Little Steamer. It’s perfect for delicate fabrics (rayon, lace, wool) and blends, and embellished items. It’s also handy for getting wrinkles out of drapes and such.
The info on starch is interesting. My daughter uses it. I’ve never tried it, but now I might!

I am the WORST at ironing!! I guess I never really learned how to do it properly. I have started taking a lot of my clothes, and my husband’s to the dry cleaner! They wash and iron for $2. I guess if I learn how to do it I could save that $ for clothes!

Oh my gosh I bought the SAME WHBM black tank a couple of weeks ago AND the LOFT pendant necklace!! I got the necklace on sale and get SO many compliments on it. My best friend bought one too! I have used Faultless Starch for several years and am always amazed at how much it helps my clothes. The cheesecloth ghost under the “Crafts” category is fun. My children loved it when they were young.
I also have a tip for people who rent their home. If you want to change the color of your walls or add wallpaper to your home but are unable to because of your lease, then buy fabric that you would like to use as wallpaper. Cut the fabric to the correct length and soak it in Faultless Liquid Starch. Place the fabric on the wall just as you would wallpaper. When you get tired of it or are ready to move, simply peel it off the wall and clean the wall with a damp sponge. This will not damage the wall and is an easy and inexpensive way to give your room a different look!
I love your outfit! You always look adorable! I use the faultless liquid starch and mix it with water in a spray bottle. It doesn’t leave as much buildup on the iron when using it this way. I love using starch but then again I iron everything.

Thank you for the post and tips on ironing with Faultless. I really like it and think it’s a great product. Since you mentioned fabric care tips, I have a question and maybe others out there can help…I have some t-shirts that get very small holes near the front waist line. I don’t wear belts so that would not be the reason for the small holes. I am clueless how these can suddenly appear. It’s not moth-eaten. Does this ever happen to your t-shirts? Any ideas?
