Blown. Away.

I am absolutely and completely blown away by the response to yesterday’s post. It just goes to show what most people are saying in the comments, it’s the posts where I sit down and write whatever is on my mind that resonate the most with my audience.

Well, that is certainly convenient because those are my favorite posts to write!

Let me be clear, I had no intention to quit blogging here or change my content when I wrote that post; I was just explaining my feelings about blogging lately. But you know what? Something about writing that post unleashed the floodgates because suddenly I have several posts brewing. I think that I’ve been so preoccupied over the last few months – first with speaking at Blissdom and preparing Eat Local Philly to be on display as my hyperlocal blog (I spoke on the hyperlocal panel) and then with launching All Things Chic and then with our massive car hunt – that I haven’t had any time to just be. And it is when I have the time to be that post topics come to me and I can write.

This morning I have 4 or 5 posts in my Draft folder at various stages of completion, and I suddenly feel inspired to write again. Which is always bad news for my design clients. Sorry, guys! I’ll be back to work soon!

Speaking of design, I got the inspiration yesterday to redesign this space. Or rather, to have this space redesigned.

There is something about designing one’s own websites that is daunting, and I’m just not feeling up to it this time. So I’ve asked a good friend, who is an extremely talented designer, to work on it for me. (Incidentally, she took All Things Chic and Eat Local Philly to a new level when I let her play around with them.) I am giving her free reign here at MOAH, and I can’t wait to see what she does with it.

With that, I’m heading out for a day of errands and a lunch date with my friend Trina. Funny how suddenly errands don’t seem like drudgery. It might have something to do with my new wheels.

  1. I think the best post are posts that comes straight from the heart and thats what you did. And that helped you unleash the blogger in you again.

I love your blog design, but if you want something more amazing, go for it. I always wished I could design my own blog. Who knows, that might be something to try this year 🙂

  2. Yeah, I could tell yesterday’s post was a biggie for you, when I had to scroll down and be comment # FORTY SEVEN. Sheesh!!!

You’re so right about the car thing. Driving a new, tight, fine-smelling set of wheels is just plain FUN, no matter where you’re going, or even if you’re not going anywhere!

    1. Having lunch with a friend is one of life’s simple (& best) pleasures, don’t ya think? I met a friend for lunch yesterday (girl talk over chinese — nothing like it! 😉 Enjoy!

  3. My blog stats are now where near yours but I know what you mean about feeling misunderstood and something that you wrote being taken the wrong way. It has happened to me and a phone call came shortly after that post went up. I don’t want to feel that way. I want to be able to express myself. After all it is my blog. There are times when I feel it to be to mundane to post anything, so I don’t. There are days I feel like I post the same old thing, especially during baseball season. But then there are days I’m filled with fire and I seem to write on and on. Bottom line is, glad you aren’t leaving. You give more to me with your normal every day happenings than you will ever know. It’s nice to know some one else is out there in the trenches with me and every other parent out there!

  4. Oh, girl. I pray you never stop writing. I missed yesterday’s post (see what happens when you can’t get to your Google reader for ONE stinking day? I missed all the excitement!) but as I was reading this one just now, I thought to myself, “See? She just needed to get that all off her chest….now she can really write again.” And, then I saw you mention that you had several posts in the works, which is awesome!

I love the mundane. I love the fashion. I love the pictures–remember, I drooled over “the tree” for weeks! 🙂 IAnd I luuu-huuu-huuuuv the food and recipes. I never would have delved into the real food world if it weren’t for bloggers, like yourself! There are tons of things I still don’t know–so please, keep talking. You are doing so in a very kind and non-threatening way. I think it’s perfect.

What you are doing here means more than you know. People are reading. People are listening….people are ‘doing’ because of you. I know it is difficult in the realm of thinking you might offend someone, but remember–you are NEVER going to please everyone. It just can’t happen.

Be yourself, and write what is on your heart. After all, that is what makes a blog good, and what readers keep coming back for! If the reader doesn’t like it, he doesn’t have to return.

(There will be plenty of us that will, though! Each and every day.)
