Cambridge Cable Chunky Turtleneck

I’m all about this turtleneck trend this fall. I hate to be cold, and turtlenecks are SO cozy and warm.

Cambridge Cable Chunky Turtleneck

I discovered the 25% off fall sale at J.Crew last week, and I ordered this Chunky Cable Turtleneck along with their Relaxed Wool Turtleneck with Ribbed Trim, which I’m actually wearing this very moment as I sit here and type. I also picked up the Excursion Quilted Vest in black.

I chose the hthr latte color, and I’m wearing a medium. I almost wish I’d ordered a small. I think turtlenecks are more flattering when they are more fitted, but I’ve worn it so I guess it’s mine now!

I wore this sweater on Halloween with my distressed jeans and leopard flats. I thought it was a fun fall look. When it gets colder, I’ll wear it with my brown riding boots. I haven’t shopped at J.Crew in several years, but they always have great classic sweaters, so I’m really glad I’ve rediscovered them.

  1. cute sweater – might have to take a peak at their website today……..thanks for the size reference too 🙂 PS and BTW your hair looks fabulous in those pictures !

  2. I love j.crew and turtlenecks! I always feel put together when I wear turtlenecks, so strange! I cannot get my kids to wear them for anything!!

    1. I think a thinner gauge turtleneck is always more slimming than the chunky styles. Also, I find a cowl neck, even a subtle one, is more flattering than the thick one like this sweater. I also bought this one, which is a bit more slimming than the cable knit: https://bit.ly/1HoA7NR

It really depends on comfort level, I think. And as always, proportions are key. With bootcut or flared jeans and heels, a chunky turtleneck will generally look better than with skinnies and flats – the longer leg line will help elongate the entire look. But sometimes practicality wins out. 🙂

  3. Hi Jo-Lynne,

I have been following you since late summer and I noticed that you don’t wear leggings. I wear them all the time with long tunics and wondered if you think they are appropriate for the over 40 ladies. I love your style and would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks!!

      1. Thanks for your reply. I must have missed that post you did with leggings. They looked great on you. Now that our weather is changing in Phoenix, I plan on wearing my leggings and boots more. Also, I really enjoyed that post on how to wear leggings by your friend. It gave me some great ideas too. Keep up the great work…I look forward to your emails every morning,
