Camel Stripe Poncho #FashionFriday

Good morning, and TGIF! It was drizzling the day we shot this look so my hair is a bit of a frizzy mess, but the show must go on! Today I’m styling a striped poncho with black jeans and leopard mules.

I’m sorry to say, I waited too long to post this outfit, and this poncho is almost sold out. Boo. On a positive note, it is 40% off, so there’s that. If your size is still available, it’s a great price! In fact, all of the Loft website is 40% off, so I rounded up all my current Loft Favorites in The Shop if you want some suggestions.

I paired this striped poncho with black jeans, and since it’s been so warm here, I opted for this off-white mixed jersey tank as an under layer. I finished off the look with my leopard mules.

I get a lot of requests for jeans that don’t fade, and these have held up amazingly well. I got them on Amazon a year or so ago because I had a gift card, but they go on sale from time to time at various retailers, although I can’t find a sale on them anywhere at the moment. I also really like the fit of the Loft modern skinny jeans, and the price is a lot nicer, but I hear they do fade.

My mules are from last year, but I found these and these, or these and these are good loafer options for those who don’t care for mules.

I like how this poncho has sleeves so it can be worn over a tank now and a long-sleeved tee when it gets colder. This tank is great because it’s on the dressier side, and it’s lined so you don’t have to worry about it being see-through. It’s also 40% off right now, and it comes in a few different colors. I have ivory and black.

I personally prefer open ponchos to the pullover kind, as they read more as a cardigan and tend to be more flattering. Not to say I won’t style a pullover style at some point, but I was drawn to this one especially because it’s the open style.

This one is really soft and seems to be good quality. For size reference, I’m wearing the XS/S. Unfortunately, as I said above, it’s starting to sell out. I also like this one, and it’s on sale as well.

For a bag, I carried a classic black tote because there’s a lot of black in my shoes, and it also works well with the black jeans.

And to finish off the look, I wore a cuff bracelet and a long layered pendant necklace to add interest and break up the front.

  1. Now that you are a college Mom, maybe you could do a post on what to wear to their sports events without looking frumpy or like an advertisement for the school (school logo apparel)! I also don’t want to look like a student but would like to step it up a bit! Suggestions would be appreciated.

    1. I always wondered how they did it without making a mess and getting it all over their washing machine. I had a friend who had done it but never asked her, her process.

  2. Another very nice transitional Fall outfit.  By the end of next week we may actually have highs in the upper 80’s instead of the mid to upper 90’s.  Just maybe we are about to be rid of this awful heat until next summer.  Sounds like a great weekend for y’all!  Have fun!

  3. I find turning my jeans inside out and washing in cold water with minimal soap, keeps the dark wash for a longer time.
    Got to run!

  4. Very Cute. I like a nice poncho for Fall.  I don’t know what it is about black jeans, but whenever I buy them, they hang in my closet. I just never seem to know what to put with them for some reason.  Sounds strange, as they are black.  One reason is I hate when they fade. I have the Loft ones and they do fade and I won’t wear them now after one year.  I didn’t know you could find ones that don’t.  Yours still look like brand new.

  5. I purchased this “poncho” a few weeks ago, but haven’t worn it yet.  I really like the way you styled it with the black jeans and animal print mules. I’ll have to try something similar. Thanks for the inspiration!
