Camel Turtleneck Sweater + White Jeans for Fall/Winter

I’m back today with the 3rd post in my 5 Ways to Wear a Camel Turtleneck style series, and this time I’m styling a casual look with slip-on sneakers and white jeans.

This is an outfit I’d more likely wear in the fall, but it really depends on your climate and and how sensitive you are to the cold.

Camel Turtleneck Sweater + White Jeans for Fall

Everything I’m wearing here (except the turtleneck) is a wardrobe staple I’ve had for several years, so if you like it, you can probably recreate this look from pieces you have in your closet.

My denim jacket is still available, and it’s currently on sale. This jacket has held up up amazingly well for me over the years.

I wear it a ton, and it always washes up perfectly. (I hang it to dry and reshape it with my hands, so it doesn’t need to be ironed.)

It has a hint of stretch for comfort and movability, and nice shape through the waist, and it’s a good classic length. It runs true to size; I have my usual small.

The BEST Denim Jacket

My white jeans are reeeeally old; they’re the Paige Verdugo ankle skinnies I’ve had for years. I was able to track them down at the Paige website, and they have a cropped version as well, although the fabric content is different on those. The ones I’m wearing are 98% cotton, so nice and thick and not see-through.

If you’re looking for a less expensive pair, I also loved and highly recommend my Madewell button-fly crops. Mine got stained, and I had to part with them. I sure wish I’d ordered a new pair when they were on sale; they’re back to full price now.

I can also recommend the white toothpick jeans at J.Crew, if you’re in the market for a good pair that isn’t see-through, and they’re 30% off today.

Fall Outfit Inspiration with Camel Turtleneck White Jeans and Denim Jacket

We’ve discussed this cashmere turtleneck several times before, and it’s selling fast, so I hope you already grabbed one if you wanted it. I also recommend the C by Bloomingdale’s cashmere turtleneck if you need one. It’s currently on sale for $71.

And if you don’t like camel near your face, you can easily substitute a grey turtleneck for any of the outfits in this series.

These Vince slip-on sneakers are also a few years old. They’re such nice quality and soooo comfortable; I love the smooth leather lining. I usually wear them more in the spring and fall, but I do wear them on mild days in the winter as well.

These shoes are marked way down at Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth, and if you prefer grey tones, you can find the Granite color on sale at Hautelook. I sized down to a 7.5 in these, and they’re known to run big, so I recommend sizing down half if purchasing.

I also added a cheetah print belt for interest, and I like how it repeats the colors from the shoes.

I don’t usually wear two animal prints together, but since the belt and shoes are both small pops of pattern, and they’re separated by the solid white jeans, I feel like it works. Also, notice the small scale of the cheetah print and the larger scale of the snake print.

STYLE TIP: When mixing patterns, it’s usually more pleasing to the eye to pair a smaller scale print with a larger one, rather than two prints of a similar size scale.

Finally, I added a long pendant necklace and hoop earrings to complete the look. For a more affordable necklace option, I like the Kendra Scott Simon long pendant. It comes in gold, silver, rose gold, and a mixed metal version as well.

  1. Love this look….I just opened up a “notes” document on my phone to record some of my favourite combos you post so I can remember whenever the day comes that we can go someplace 🙂
I have about 5 pairs of white jeans, but the ones I keep reaching for over and over are my Wit and Wisdom ones…love them.

  2. Love this whole look! So nice to see a white jean ( high hopes for spring)I would not have thought of the tote, belt or shoes together but seeing is believing! Excited about the spring series with Cyndi..

  3. Question…when you take off that jean jacket inside- do you leave the sweater tucked like you have it – with the little points sticking out on the side and the back untucked? I’m wondering if it looks odd without the jacket as a topper…

  4. I love this turtleneck SO much! I have multiple colors, and ordered “backups” of grey and black after the price drop to $36. Runs a bit large, and in my opinion the arms are plenty long. Don’t pass this one up!

  5. What an awesome, unique outfit! I can’t say that I ever would have put this together but it looks terrific – and so good on you! And I’m definitely looking forward to your series with Cyndi!

  6. Did I spy a possible Christmas present on your wrist? a Lagos watch? I love Lagos too! I recently got a pair of caviar hoop earrings with little circle dangles — you can wear the hoops by themselves or with the dangles. It’s like having 2 pairs of earrings. Hope you can make it to Florida for a break. We’ve done a couple car trips and things went well. A change of scenery can do wonders.

  7. I adore this outfit, I have been copying your turtle neck outfits but with different colours because I really don’t like camel.  I have been admiring shoes similar to these but more grey to suit my colours, I am struggling to keep myself from buying them and I really don’t need another pair of snake print footwear!  So could you please stop showing me awesome looks with them😂. My husband and wallet would thank you!

  8. Love this outfit! But, as a blonde with skin coloring that does not favor camel near my face, I really appreciate your tip about substituting the camel for gray. I definitely have an abundance of that color in my closet. 😉

      1. Perfect – thank you! Love the how the grey sweater and denim jacket with the white jeans work so well together – it seems so natural, but I know I would’ve struggled to put that combo together on my own. Thank you for the inspiration!

  9. I bought this turtleneck in camel and black, following your recommendation and I really like them! I also bought the v neck version in oatmeal but it hasn’t arrived yet.

I am wondering what size you bought in your denim jacket? Are the sleeves roomy enough for a long sleeve sweater without being too tight?

I also bought the Vince slip on sneakers in the summer following your suggestion and your right, they are sooo comfy!

    Thanks for all you do!

  10. What a cute outfit on you.  Great job on putting this one together. I’m soooo  glad I finally bought the jean jacket last time you posted it was on sale. I love it, but haven’t worn it yet.  Waiting more toward Spring. You are right, the denim color goes with so much.  I want to find a longer, tunic type white blouse to wear with my nice thicker black leggings and the jean jacket and the black mules you recommended too that I bought.  I think would be nice outfit for Spring.  Have a good day and hope you get to work out your trip.  Maybe by March things will have settle down in all areas.  I’m so happy  to hear you and Cyndi will be doing your Spring Series.  They are fun.

  11. I really love this outfit! Planning to wear a version of it for date night on Friday. (We keep things pretty casual for our dates) I’m enjoying this series, because I love my camel turtleneck sweater & love seeing different ideas of how to style it. So, thank you! Have a good Tuesday!

  12. This is such a great outfit!  Love the camel with the white jeans and the slip on sneakers.  I really want to wear my denim jacket more often, but I’m always reaching for my regular jeans and struggle with what to wear with my white or colored jeans, so that I can wear the jacket. Maybe I can work on that this Spring.  So happy that you and Cyndi are going to do another series!  That will be fun to look forward to.

  13. Boy, did you read my mind regarding the two different animal prints you are wearing.  I was going to ask about that, so thank you for the explanation.  Your sweater showing below the back of your denim jacket looks fine, but I don’t like it on me.  Go figure!  Oh, the Loft sweater that you shared in your last try on, arrived today.  I tried it on and put it right back in the package to return.  The neckline looked terrible on me, and even Larry said he didn’t like it.  Way long ago, he worked in a woman’s boutique, so he does have a good eye when it comes to clothing.  Good thing I bought a sweater at Belk today that I can wear for Valentines and beyond!  I hope that you’ve had a great day!

  14. Thanks for the suggestions on white jeans. I’m always in search for a fresh pair every spring. I love this outfit and that it combines a winter sweater with white jeans and a basic jean jacket which we all have. What a great combination and good job styling it.
