Capsule Wardrobe Week 2 Recap

I’ve been living with my 50-piece capsule wardrobe for two weeks now, and I’m still going strong. I plan to finish out the 30 days, but I have to admit it was fun to break out some spring clothes in Florida this weekend. Meanwhile, here are the outfits I wore this week from my winter capsule.

Capsule Wardrobe Week 2

You saw this first outfit in my Snow Day post. I’d been waiting for a good snow to style my Sorel boots. Unfortunately, the model I have with the pink laces has been discontinued, but you can find this year’s version of the Sorel Tofino Cate at Zappo’s.

Winter Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Day 9

Outfit Details: J.Crew Cambridge Cable Turtleneck $98 | white jeans $178
Sorel Tofino Cate snow boots c/o Zappo’s $160 | Dalton Initial Pendant $78
Kate Spade watch $225 | D Yurman link ring $495 | Tory Burch Britten Slouchy Tote $475

The next day was Sunday. We were snowed in, so I wanted to be comfortable. I wore my leggings with a black tunic sweater, which is now on sale for $25. These are THE BEST leggings ever. (They’re available in both Plus and Regular sizes.) I love the wide waistband because it holds everything in, and the leggings never slide down. Unfortunately the scarf is sold out, but this one would look great on black too, and it’s only $22.

Winter Wardrobe Capsule Day 10

Outfit Details: Split Hem Tunic $25 | Hue Leggings $36 | UGG Classic Cardy $95
Kate Spade watch $225 | D Yurman Link Ring $495 | similar scarf $22

On Sunday, I wore my grey cashmere sweater and lavender tank with black ripped jeans and my nude ballet flats. I tried a bunch of shoes with this and never came up with a solution I loved. I think black Converse would be perfect, but I only have white, and they didn’t look quite right to me. I ended up wearing the Felicia Flats because they feel like slippers and are so comfortable, I couldn’t bear to take them off. I’m thinking of ordering a silver pair since I wear so much grey and pink.

lavender tank (old; J.Crew Perfect-Fit Tank) | black jeans $188
Felicia flats $99 | similar silver circle necklace $62

By Monday, I was going stir crazy. I didn’t even get dressed from my capsule. I called it a “grace day” and pulled on an old pink Zella sweatshirt (similar) and a pair of lined yoga pants. I would have worn my Metro Skinny Pants, but they were in the wash. They’re my go-to pants when I want to be comfy, and they’re more flattering than the ones I was wearing in this picture.

Grace Day

On Tuesday, I was feeling more like myself. I got showered and dressed, put the kids on the school bus, and went out to run some errands so I could get out of the house. I’m a homebody when it suits me, but there can be too much of a good thing!!

Winter Capsule Wardrobe Day 13

Outfit Details: similar oatmeal pullover $89 | Emma skinnies $178 | OTK boots $118
similar scarf $22 | pink tote $475 | mixed metal pendant $32

I wore this on Wednesday or Thursday, I can’t remember which. I like the pink and black with leopard combination.

On the plane on Friday, I wore my oatmeal pullover with skinny jeans and nude flats. I debated whether or not to wear a coat to go to Florida, but I decided that I’ll be glad to have it when I get back to Philly on Monday and I’m waiting for the shuttle to take me back to my car.

Here’s another picture in front of our rental house in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Not too shabby, eh!?!

I’m not sure where to fit in my vacation outfit pictures. I don’t have enough pictures for individual posts, but I can’t really share them with my capsule wardrobe pictures. Maybe I’ll just do a post with Florida outfit pictures.

I also want to tell you about where we are staying and some of the things to do in the area. I’d never even heard of Destin, Florida until this trip, but it is a beautiful area. I just wish there were direct flights from Philly.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

  1. All of your outfits are so cute and I’m really interested in trying the capsule wardrobe. I need to replenish some spring items before I can do that. My fall/winter wardrobe is much better than my spring/summer. Do you have any suggestions for some spring staples? After seeing your trench coat, I did buy one in a dark red and really like it. Thanks for your inspiration!

  2. I’ve never been to Destin, but I’ve heard it’s beautiful too. I’d love to hear more about your trip and especially see all your cute outfits. By the way, the black on black outfit is one of my faves you’ve shown from the capsule. Love it!
Also, I got to check out a pair of Felicia flats yesterday. So soft! They’re definitely on my wishlist now. Do you know if they ever go on sale??

    1. They are sooooo soft and comfy. I mean, seriously the comfiest I’ve ever tried. I have not yet seen them on sale. 🙁 I keep watching because I would snatch up a leopard and a silver pair if they would go down a bit.

    1. Haha, good point! Although I do miss adding new clothes to my closet. I think I’ve gotten used to rotating a lot of clothing in and out due to the fashion focus of my blog, and it’s fun. 🙂

  3. I love the black on black with that pretty plaid scarf! Just had to say how cute you look wearing your glasses! Enjoy your last day in Florida!

  4. I’ve heard so much about Destin, Florida lately (HGTV ????) and would love to hear more about it and what you wore!

  5. It just shows we can live with fewer things even if we don’t want to. Every time I get rid of things to simplify I tend to buy more so never really get anywhere. Ha.

  6. If u go back down, there is a really picturesque area about 30 minutes east of Destin called the beaches of south Walton. The little towns of seaside, seagrove, rosemary beach are all along 30A which is less commercialized than Destin but has the same beautiful beaches. There are 17 miles of paved side walks to bike and it is fun to bike through rhe expensive neighborhoods with beautiful homes. We usually stay in seagrove which is more budget friendly. Just wanted to share the info, we go down there every fall break!

  7. Just started reading your blog. I caught one of your outfits on Pinterest and loved it. Never followed anyone before and love how you put your outfits together. Hope you had a nice trip to Destin. Sorry our weather wasn’t warmer in Florida. . Good luck with your skincare business. I’m looking into the products now and will let you know what I’d like to order I’m probably ten years older than you and a swimmer so my skin and hair need more attention. By the way, LOVE your glasses.

    1. Hi Rose! I’m so glad you found me on Pinterest. We are having so much fun in Florida – the weather is a welcome relief from our PA winter. 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions about the Rodan + Fields. And thanks – I do enjoy my glasses. I just have a hard time putting on makeup when I’m not wearing them. That is one of the major deterrents to wearing them more.
