Outfit Details: Cable Front Sweater on sale for $32 (also comes in ivory and rose brown)
DL1961 Emma Legging Jeans $178 (I got mine on sale; hold out!)
Converse Shoreline $49 (also bought on sale) | similar grey tank $22
Silpada Half Moon Earrings $79 | D Yurman Large Oval Link Bracelet $450

This is the perfect casual, comfy outfit for a day at home. I will be spending the day taking down our tree and packing away all the decorations. Yes, we waste no time. We like to set it up early and take it down early. This is mostly due to my husband’s neurosis, but I’ve found over the years that I appreciate having my house back, so I go along with it.

I picked up this sweater on sale for $32. I like the oversized styling and the split hem, and the cable detail on the front is so pretty. There are still a few sizes and colors left! (It runs large, so order a size down. I’m wearing a small.)

This is another situation where I felt really cute and cozy wearing this sweater, but when I went back to look at pictures, I realized that it makes me look heavier than I am. I kind of knew that, but I thought it was okay because it’s supposed to be bulky and oversized. But as usual, the photos tell all. It’s okay, but I’m determined to rid my closet of everything that is “just okay.”

This is the type of sweater that works really well for ladies who are not quite as well-endowed. I’ve seen it on several different fashion bloggers who are thinner than I am and have more of a boyish figure, and it is really cute on them. So if you look good in these oversized styles, grab yourself one of these sweaters. They’re selling fast.

Also, I’m wearing it over a grey tank because it’s a loose weave, and I’d be cold without a layer underneath it.

I wore my Emma skinnies and Converse for a super casual look. The jeans are a legging style, so they are figure-hugging, which works best with an oversized top. I cuffed them once to show a little more ankle above my shoes, which is supposed to be slimming.

My Converse are the Shoreline version. I like them because they don’t cover as much of the foot as the traditional style. My feet are already pretty large (I wear an 81⁄2) so I don’t need my shoes making them look any bigger than they already are.

I threw on a few chunky silver accessories — my Silpada Half Moon Earrings and my D Yurman Large Oval Link Bracelet. I’ve had the bracelet for years, and I still find myself wearing it a few times a week. It’s a great everyday bracelet that goes with everything.

I’m showing the outfit with my Mini Crosby crossbody in oxblood because I love that color with grey. That said, I’ve decided I’m done with small purses for everyday use. I hate to get out and about and find that there’s something I need that I don’t have. I’ve always liked a large bag, and I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon. I’ll save these little crossbodies for dinner dates and use my big totes for everyday.

I also love this unlined tote in port. It was originally $275. It’s been marked down to $184, and with 40% off, you get this genuine leather bag for $110! I am soooo tempted, but I just ordered another handbag with Christmas money, so I’m trying to resist the temptation.

  1. Cute outfit! I really like the Converse Shoreline shoes, especially the fact that they’re slip on style. I’ve also seen them online in some cute colors. Hard to choose just one.

I wonder, are the white ones hard to keep clean? Do you have any tips?

  2. I too like larger handbags for everyday use, because like you, inevitably I need something that I left at home. Your whole outfit looks great!
I need to check out the Converse to see if my orthotics will work in them since I have to have the arch support to do any walking. As a matter of fact, the orthopedic told me to never go bare footed!

  3. I loved the gray cable knit sweater when I saw it in a previous post. Ordered it, and it’s lovely. But not for me. I’ve always adored cable knits but have decided that with my curvy figure and large bust, it’s just not a good look for me. It makes me look heavy and sort of lumpy! I’m all for wearing comfy clothes, but have decided that I should always feel good in what I wear. Even if I’m just hanging out at home. So from now on, I’ll just adore cable knits on others. 🙂

  4. I think the sweater looks great on you! But I totally understand and appreciate not feeling your best in something! From my perspective though, it looks perfect! And my tree is already down also. Not really my choice, we had new furniture delivered, so we needed the space, but like you, it’s kind of nice to already have it done and out of the way!

  5. I got a giggle out of your no more small purses declaration! The minute my boys were old enough that I didn’t need to lug a diaper bag, I immediately switched to tiny cute purses. I was so excited that I didn’t have to carry so much stuff! A few years later, I’m back to a larger bag. My fave is the Coach Edie 🙂
