Coffee Talk + Nashville Recap

Good morning from Nashville! I’m up early writing this post because we have to catch a flight home here in a bit.

The coffee shop in our hotel serves coffee in the cutest mug with a glass carafe of extra on the side. I’m not sure what the point is, as it does get cold fast, but of course I had to take a picture.

I’m actually waiting anxiously at this moment for the coffee shop to open because I need my fix! Although to be honest, I may end up at the Starbucks across the street because they open a half hour earlier and I prefer their coffee… presentation notwithstanding.

Anyway! We’ve had a great time in Nashville, and we definitely picked the right weekend weather-wise. Evidently they’ve had a ton of rain over the past few weeks so if we’d come any earlier, we would have been stuck with that, and this weekend we not only got a gorgeous weekend here, but we managed to escape the storm that ravaged the northeast.

I’m happy that my family at home still has power. So many in our area don’t, and I would really feel awful if they were dealing with that while I’m away.

For those who may not have read my post yesterday, we stayed at Noelle, Nashville, a boutique hotel that has recently been revived. It’s been absolutely wonderful.

We ate dinner at Rolf and Daughters the first night we were here and then went down on Broadway for some live music. We ended up at Dierk’s Whiskey Row, where the band covered music from about every popular genre from country to pop to rock-and-roll to alternative. They were great. We just hung out there for an hour or two and then walked back to the hotel.

On Friday, we visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and took the Studio B Tour. Then we went out to lunch at Husk, which was absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend it if you’re ever in Nashville. We wandered into the Johnny Cash Museum but didn’t have time to go through it before our lunch reservations. It looked cool though.

That night we were planning to go back down to Broadway to find some live music, but then we discovered the alley behind our hotel had a few spots that were much quieter. We wandered into the Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar, and it was a blast. The musicians were good, but the people watching opportunity was beyond fantastic. Ha!

We spent our last day in Nashville poking around downtown. We toured the Ryman, and then we wandered back down to Broadway and caught a really fun band at Tootsie’s. They were amazing musicians and really great with the crowd. It’s amazing to me how busy those bars are on a Saturday morning! It was like 11:30 am when we got there, and they were already going strong.

We came back to our room and rested a bit before heading up to dinner at Puckett’s last night, and then I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit that we came back to our hotel and watched tv and went to bed early. Such party animals, we are! Haha!

I did feel a little silly wasting our last night in Nashville, but it was really cold, and we just didn’t feel up to walking around anymore. We knew it would be super crowded down on Broadway on a Saturday night, and we figured we’d heard enough good music for one weekend.

Today I’m eager to get home to my kids, and naturally I’m hoping for a safe and uneventful trip. It looks like a clear day for flying, so that’s good at least!

I hope y’all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Sounds like a great weekend – and you did a lot! I would’ve relaxed my last night too! 🙂 Safe travels home.

  2. I’m chuckling a bit because that sounds exactly like what my husband and I would have done and I would have said the same thing – we are such party animals -ha! It sounds like you all enjoyed yourselves and had a wonderful time, no need to stay out all night and then be exhausted the next day. I’ve never been to Nashville but it sounds like fun!

  3. I shared your Sunday message with my husband and he commented, “Wow, let’s write these places down.”  Now, that’s  a compliment. He loves to travel and does all the planning/arranging for our adventures. We’ve had friends ask him to make all their travel arrangements. I tease him about this being a new gig when he retires. Your weekend sounds wonderful. What a testament to your kiddos that mom and dad need time together.

  4. Great weekend getaway for you two!
Thank you for sharing good tips on where to eat and what to see, along with where the fun spots are.
Safe travels, and HBD to Paul!

  5. Your heavenly angels definitely watched out for y’all so that you would have a nice weekend away.  Praying for a very smooth and uneventful flight home to your children.

  6. So glad you had such a great trip!  What was the eye shadow primer that you mentioned recently?  I can’t seem to find that post.  Thank you!

  7. Sounds like a fun weekend!  We were there two summers ago and it was fun although we were with our kids so didn’t get any of the nightlife in. I was amazed at how many bachelor and bachelorette parties there were!  Sounds like a fun weekend getaway.

  8. Travelling vicariously through you. 😁 Glad you had a lovely weekend get away and quality time together as a couple. Thanks for the great travel tips.

  9. This sounds like a wonderful getaway for our family.   Our kiddos would love the music and the bar scene…and they would be great fun for us to watch and enjoy.   I think you’ve also show that it’s great any time of year!

  10. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing! How did you choose your hotel and great restaurants? My husband and I would love to take weekend trips but wonder about making the most of bigger cities!

    1. Hey Cindy, I usually swear by Trip Advisor for finding good restaurants. This trip, though, we had so many recommendations from friends that we just sifted through those and researched them a bit. I’m a Starwood card holder, so I always stay in Starwood hotels if I can. I found this on the Starwood site. I was able to use points for one night. 🙂

  11. Sounds like fun. My husband and I say uncle when we need to. Example going on a cruise and never going to a show! I think we are beyond help🤔😄

  12. Interesting you went to Nashville.  My daughter and her husband recently went there and loved it and want to go back and I just told my husband yesterday I wanted to go, but we have no idea what to plan to see.  So, glad you gave some ideas and I will talk to my daughter too.  Don’t know when we will plan it but hope to someday.  Any idea on the best months to go weather wise but not too hot? We have a much longer flight than you did.  I live in NW Oregon. 🙂  Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hey Kathy, I would recommend going in spring or fall. It was chilly this weekend. It would be prettier and warmer in late March/April. I expect May would be nice too. And fall is pretty on the East Coast – Sept/Oct should be good there.

  13. Just catching up and realized that the only other time I had been in Nashville (aside from a weekend trip with my husband this past fall), was at the Blissdom conference when I roomed with YOU!!! Fun times! 🙂
