Coffee Talk 10.13.19 ☕️

Well, it’s been quite a weekend around here! We attended my nephew’s wedding on Friday, and it truly was — as my newest niece put it on Facebook — “The Greatest Show.”

It started with the wedding ceremony/Catholic mass at a gorgeous church in downtown Wilmington, and then we headed over to the historic Hotel DuPont for the reception. It’s an absolutely stunning venue — I love old hotels! In fact, my reception was at a similar venue in my hometown.

The bride and groom surprised us by singing to each other — I Wanna Grow Old With You from The Wedding Singer. I would have been way too nervous to try that on my wedding day, but they’re both seasoned performers and they pulled it off beautifully.

Then when we were about halfway into our main course, there was an announcement that a special guest would be joining us. The next thing we knew, the band was playing the Rocky theme song, and the Philly Phanatic — the Phillies mascot — made a grand entrance.

Everyone went wild. I don’t think there was a person in the room who didn’t join him on the dance floor. He was there for about an hour, dancing and hamming it up. It was great.

As it turned out, that was Sarah’s present to Pat, and she totally surprised him. (They’re both huge Philly sports fans.)

The party went on for several more hours, and it was just so much fun to see everyone having a great time together. I got tons of photos and videos, and truly the videos capture everything best, but they’re all on my phone and I’m not sure what to do with them. I don’t want to lose them — any ideas?

Anyway, I’ll share a few more of my favorite photos here.

C and her cousin, Brooke . . .

Love this one of D and his grandmother . . .

Pat and Sarah toasting and cutting the cake . . .

R and the Phanatic . . . she barely left his side the entire time he was there.

And my favorite . . .

I really wanted to make sure we got a good family picture, so we took a bunch. I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out. It’s hard to get one of all 5 of us smiling, but the lighting was really lovely, and the church is a beautiful backdrop.

Yesterday morning, there was a nice brunch at the hotel to wrap up the wedding festivities, and then we headed back home. I’ve been recovering ever since!

I’m not used to being up so late, and dancing for hours in 4″ heels definitely took its toll, but we all had a blast.

So with that, I’m off to church this morning. I’m hoping to get a nap this afternoon, and I’m looking forward to a birthday party tonight for one of my best friends. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Looks like a wonderful wedding/weekend! I need a little advice. I’m going to Ogunquit for a 4 day weekend this week with 2 other couples. How do you look put together but feel comfy and cozy for walking, shopping and hanging out? Nothing fancy, I know what to wear for our 1 nice dinner.

    1. Oooh, fun. As you know, Maine is very casual. I’d bring my favorite jeans, a couple of sweaters (pullovers or cardigans) and a light jacket, a pair of booties for dinner and comfy fashion sneakers for sightseeing.

  2. Great pictures. I love your dress as well as your daughters. So pretty! Congratulations to your nephew and his new bride!

  3. This is such a beautiful picture of you all.  It sounds like you had a really amazing time together as a family.  Isn’t that the best?  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  5. Beautiful family pic. We can all relate to taking many, many photos to get one good one. All of you are well dressed for the event. Your final dress choice was perfect and you look incredible. Love the shoes and handbag, just enough bling.  Looks like a super fun wedding that provided great memories for all lucky enough to attend. Have fun tonight celebrating with friends.

  9. I have plenty of friends who use Facebook basically as their travel diary, so every year their memories come up they remember that trip. That might be a good place to put your videos.

  10. If you have iCloud your videos are automatically saved there, otherwise put them on a hard drive for safe keeping. Looks like a wonderful wedding! Congratulations to the newlyweds!

  11. Oh my goodness, the picture of your family is BEAUTIFUL!! I see your Christmas card there!!! Your family are all so happy, and good looking!!! What a wonderful family !!!! You and Paul have done a great job with your precious kids!

  12. Looks like a great weekend. Your family photo is perfect. Love your dress. Wellll…. the shoes too. :). Anyway you can share the video of the bride and groom singing to each other? Would love to see it. :).

  13. I absolutely love the picture of your family…and your dress.

I have the Google Photos app on my phone. We go to a lot of concerts and my son is in marching band, so I take lots of videos that I don’t want taking up all my phone storage. Just open Google Photos app, and everything automatically uploads to it. Then I’m able to delete them from my photo storage.

  14. Beautiful day and family photo. Are you able to share where Becca’s dress came from? I have a teenage daughter and always look to your girls for inspiration. Thanks!
