Coffee Talk

Greetings, friends. Happy Sunday! I’ve been sitting on my front porch with my coffee, enjoying the sunshine and the mild temperatures and the serenade of the birds. This is the kind of morning summers are made of.

I was excited to make this season’s inaugural visit to the swimming pool yesterday afternoon. We spent a few hours soaking up the sun while the kids played, and then we came home and enjoyed some patio time with the neighbors. They grilled pizza (and even made a gluten-free version for me) so of course this morning I woke up feeling like I have a sack of sand in my belly. Carbs are not my friend, it seems, even the GF ones. I will never learn. (Or I will never learn to care, haha!) Sometimes it’s worth it.

(Before you ask, that’s the Sole Society Playa Beach Bag. These are selling fast; this color is already gone on Nordstrom’s website, although they have a pretty navy blue version. It’s a nice size for holding a beach towel along with my sunblock, wallet, and sunglasses.)

I think we’ll head back to the pool this afternoon if the kids are up for it. I see that another dreary weather front is moving in later this week so I want to make the most of the sunshine while we have it.

I’d love to hear how you think 25 Days of Summer Fashion is going. We shot 4 looks yesterday morning… yes, FOUR! So I’m almost set for this week. That’s a good feeling. We’ve only left the front yard once during this series, with the exception of the ones I got in Florida with Sydney. With my vertigo, it’s been easier to stay here, and thankfully the yard is pretty this time of year, but I have to admit I’m getting kind of tired of the same scenery. I realize most of you probably don’t care, but it’s more fun for us to go elsewhere. I’m hoping to do a few shoots “on location” before the series ends.

There’s not much else to tell you . . . or at least nothing you probably want to hear. Ha! We’re tending to all the mundane tasks associated with getting a child ready to go to camp for a month, stocking the kitchen pantry for having teenage kids at home all day, and all that type of exciting stuff.

I hope you all have a blessed Sunday!

  1. Good Morning to you Jo-Lynne! I am in our front porch with a 20oz mug of coffee. It’s overcast here and muggy due to the wet front moving in from FL. Evidently, this front is moving from the east to the west, which is not the norm, I’m glad y’all got some pool/sun time in yesterday.

    Have a blessed day!

  2. Hey Jo’Lynne,
I have bad year round allergies and one year I got a really bad ear infection that took my hearing for a while. I finally got tired of the dizziness and the deafness in that ear. Nothing was working. I went to an ENT and they told me to use my Flonase and while spraying it to make sure to cross my arms and point it towards my ears…I know a hard visual. Make an “X” with your arms and spray the opposite nostril with the opposite hand…BUT point towards your ears.

This worked when nothing else did. I hope you feel better 🙂

  3. I once had vertigo off and on for 6 months. Eventually, an otololaryngologist prescribed an antiviral medication that worked and cured me.

      1. Hi Jo-Lynne, I’m just catching up on your blog and saw your posts about vertigo –ME TOO! Like you it comes and goes but it’s getting worse. I’m eager to hear what the Dr. says. I also have TMJ that presents with pronounced ear pain (not infection but pain all across my right side) and tinnitus that’s getting worse and I’m wondering if all these are connected. I’ve not yet pursued it but will soon. I hope you get some relief.

  4. Good Morn to you too. We are heading home from being at lake house for weekend. It was a work and clean up week end. The kids didn’t come so we got caught up with chores to enjoy next time. Here on the coast of Louisiana it was a bit hot but no rain til this morn leaving. Now sun shine. Love my lazy week ends too. Have a great week with kiddos. B

  5. The “mundane” events are the fabric of our lives and I love hearing about yours. Thank-you for sharing, Jo-Lynne. Have a wonderful day.

  6. May I ask what color nail polish that is? Looks like it would match perfectly with the dress I’ll be wearing to our son’s wedding this summer!! Thanks for sharing your life!! 🙂

  7. You’re porch is so beautiful! Not much excitement here. It’s already hot, windy and humid. We went to church, grocery shopping and a trip to Home Depot. Back to the salt mines tomorrow! The series has been great Jolynne. Keep up the good work!

  8. Hey love,
Didn’t realize you were suffering with vertigo. Have they prescribed anything? How long has this been going on? Any hearing loss with it? I have taken mezzanine the times I have had vertigo (other than my normal daily dingy-dizziness!!). It is a miserable feeling feeling like you are on TILT all the time. Hope you get some relief soon.

Enjoy that pool time. Hope you have a good book to read. If not, or if reading is a struggle right now, may I suggest listening to The Lilac Girls via Audible. OH MY GOODNESS! Such a good ‘read’. Loved the narration. The characters came to life in my ears on the way to and from work, at the gym! So good.

    Feel better. XO

  9. Jo-Lynne, sorry to hear you are suffering with vertigo! I have a couple of friends who get pretty laid out when they have a spell. I hope you are feeling better soon. Glad you were able to get to the pool and enjoy the sun! Summer goes by so fast, so we have to take advantage of it when we can. – Amy

  10. I’m enjoying your summer series and have loved all the outfits. You’ve chosen a nice variety. Do you ever wear colored capris? Can’t wait to see this weeks outfits!

  11. I’ve loved your summer series! You’ve done a great job styling different pieces and letting us know why they may or may not work. Thanks for all the hard work! Hope you feel better soon!

  12. I’m going to put you on my prayer list. I sure hope you get some more answers at your apt. So sorry the vertigo is still there. I wish we had warmer temps to make it feel like summer. That usually doesn’t happy until July. (NW Oregon)

  13. I’m a day late reading your Coffee Talk I so enjoy! But I’m pretending it’s yesterday & sitting on my front porch, listening to the birds, sipping a coffee & trying to tune out the Monday morning traffic! Busy time for you for sure making that adjustment to the summer schedule. Thanks to you, I was looking stylish yesterday when I attended my Scrapbook workshop after church. White crop jeans, fashionable cold shoulder top ✔️ . Looking forward to more summer wardrobe ideas!
