Coffee Talk 02.04.18 + Go Eagles!

Greetings, friends! I’m going to keep this one brief because I want to get outside and run/walk before church, and I’m getting a late start this morning.

So who is hyped up for the Super Bowl? This is the first time in my life I have ever cared about this game, beyond the halftime show, and I honestly don’t care much about the halftime show either. As far as the commercials go, whatever… any that are good will get replayed a gazillion times on Facebook tomorrow.

But this year our Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2004, and we haven’t won a national championship since it’s been called the Super Bowl, so we’re all pretty invested in this game, football fans or not.

To make it even more interesting (to me, anyway), my side of the family are Pats fans. My mom’s family hails from Maine, and they all regularly travel to Boston for Pats and Sox games. We’ve even been invited a couple of times, which should probably make me somewhat sympathetic to the New England teams… except I really can’t stand how they gloat… and cheat, AHEM.

Basically, it comes down to this: for the Eagles to lose this Super Bowl championship would stink, but to lose to the Pats is absolutely unacceptable. It. Cannot. Happen.

So yeah, the girl who hasn’t watched an entire football game through since my high school team went to the Virginia state championships back in the 1980s will be glued to the TV tonight.

We’re planning to go to a Super Bowl party in the neighborhood, and I’m bringing my favorite dip. I’ll see how long we last. I have severe cat allergies and can’t usually stay there too long, and I can see my husband and son wanting to come home and watch the game without distractions, but that will also depend on how close of a game it is.

Did I say I was keeping this post short? OOOPS.

Anyway… it’s been a busy weekend. I attended a funeral yesterday morning (never fun, but it was actually a blessing to me and hopefully to others in attendance) and then last night I went out with friends and saw Pitch Perfect 3. It was absolutely hysterical, albeit a tad raunchy, but even the raunch is done in a way that’s silly and not terribly offensive. If you’re a fan of the other two, you’ll love this one.

And somewhere in between all that we managed to shoot an outfit, plus I edited my pictures and wrote the blog post so I’m all ready for Monday! That feels good.

In other news, my back is feeling better. I’m hoping to head out in a bit and walk/run. Since I’m afraid the impact of running may have contributed to the situation, I took a break from that. I should have been walking regularly, but I only went out once or twice. It’s just been so dreadfully cold this week. Anyway, enough excuses. I’m headed back out this morning, but I plan to ease back into it with a walk/run sequence and see how it feels.

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday, and I’ll just leave you with this.

FLY, EAGLES FLY!

  1. Hi Jo-Lynne, this is the first time I’ve ever commented on any ones blog but I just gotta put this out there. The Eagles fans have a bad rep for being mean. I get it that in the Vet there was this “jail” and that some threw snowballs at Santa. I hear about that every time they play. I used to live in Lansdale. All my friends were Eagle fans and were great. They are good people with kind hearts and I am confident they wouldn’t do anything to an opposing fan who was at an Eagles game. So I wish the media wouldn’t stereotype the Eagle fans, as if 50,000 Eagle fans were all throwing snowballs. Since the Packers, Go Pack, aren’t in the Super Bowl then Go Eagles! I love your blog!

  2. I’m with you Jo-Lynne – go Eagles! Even though I’m born and raised in CT, I’m not a Pats fan. #Cheaternation I’d root for anyone playing against them. I’ll be watching the game unless it becomes a blowout. That would not be fun to watch. Have a great day!

    1. So glad it wasn’t a blowout. It was a nail biter, and I was stressed OUT, but it was more fun than watching a blowout. Even if we were the ones doing the blowing out. Hehe.

  3. I love football so I’m sad this will be the last game until August. Definitely hoping the Eagles win!! Also, I signed up for Stitch Fix on your recommendation and the first one arrived yesterday. Total hit! I’m keeping all five and I love everything. I was shocked that it was all so perfect for me!

  4. Getting my Philadelphia Eagles out now Go Eagles

glad your back is feeling better try not to over do it and reinjure it

  5. FLY EAGLES FLY! I also have relatives on my husband’s side that live in Boston…enough said!!! Love your Birds tee! I’ve been wearing my Eagles gear for 2 weeks, I’m actually looking forward to putting it all away! Let’s play this game….and then watch “This is Us”! Enjoy your walk/run!!!!!

  6. That outfit with the Eagles t-shirt is perfection. Love it.
Enjoy the Superbowl. Are you hosting a party? My husband is invited to a big party with a bunch of guys from church so I am going to put on sweats and read a new book. ????

  7. I guess I am in the minority here, but GO PATRIOTS!  I am a southern girl, born and raised in NC, but I have been a Patriots (Tom Brady) fan for years.  I am hoping Brady adds another ring.????????????

  8. Don’t forget about the puppy bowl on Animal Planet at 3:00, on the east coast.  All of the pups are up for adoption and it’s really cute.  Even though we will not be watching the Super Bowl, we are pulling for the Eagles.  It’s very windy and rather wet here in GA, so it’s definitely a stay inside kind of day.  Have a blessed Sunday!

  9. You look so cute with your Eagles shirt on and like you I ever watch the Super Bowl but my husband got a great deal on a new tv so I might sit for a bit and have a snack and watch for awhile. I usually make a movie or shopping date with a girlfriend. Lol
Glad your feeling better and enjoy the game. I’ll be rooting for your team since none of our Texas teams made it.

  10. I will also be cheering for the Eagles. I have never liked the Patriots. I’m a die hard Green Bay fan but since they’re not in I’ll usually always root for the NFC. Currently living in Minnesota the news and talk has been all about the Super Bowl. It’s pretty cool they are hosting this year but I have avoided that madness!!

  11. I am a huge college football fan, War Eagle! Being from Alabama I can totally relate to you. So over AL always winning the National Championship. As far as Pro football we are Steeler fans so we can’t stand the Patriots. Go Eagles! Besides I don’t care about the Super Bowl I can’t wait for what comes on afterwards. This Is Us…. hands down best show ever!!!
Anyways you look so stinking cute in that outfit! #flyeaglesfly

  12. Hi Jo-Lynne, Glad to hear that your back is feeling better. After my car was hit by a red-light runner, I had neck and back trouble and my orthopedist told me that the best thing I could do is walk everyday. But, not walk the dog, or walk with my phone/water bottle in my hand–nothing in my hands so the natural swing of my arm/hands with my gait helped to realign and stretch my back and neck muscles. It truly helped–I hope you continue to feel better! I’m in CA, so I don’t have a dog in this fight for the SB, but I think Carson Wentz and Nick Foles are amazing guys–Fly, Eagles!!

  13. I am with you…so not a football fan! Luckily, neither is my husband. We barely watched the times the Broncos were in the super bowl recently. We’re true anomalies in Denver, a crazy sports town!

I like that cardigan. What is it? I look terrible in cream, but I can use a couple of basic cardigans like that. Have a great day!

  14. I’m not a fan of the game but like the parties and food. ????
If your neighbour puts her cats away does it still bother you? It’s a shame to feel miserable. What a girl does for a party! Ha!

  15. You are fired up! Go EAGLES. I can’t believe you don’t care about the half time show…LOL Haven’t you seen the memes of JT saying “I heard someone’s going to try to play football at the Justin Timberlake concert.” That cracks me up. Have a great day and don’t stroke out if the game is tight!!! XOXO

  16. I’ve never really cared about  who wins the Super Bowl, but this year Go Eagles! We live out west, but our daughter lives in Philly and we’ve become Eagles fans!!
Love your shirt and your blog. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Ha. I didn’t have any emotional bandwidth left after that game. It was a nail biter to the end. I’ll watch This Is Us later this week when I’m alone. My son and husband were watching all the post-game stuff, but I went to bed.

  17. Enjoy the game! I can totally understand the excitement when your city’s team is playing! The whole Atlanta area was crazed last year with the Falcons making it to the Super Bowl. What was looking like a sure win with a huge lead at half time quickly turned to disappointment with the Falcons choking. I think there are some still recovering from the shocking loss! LOL!

  18. I agree with Tracy, my favorite team is also, whoever is playing against the Patriots. GO EAGLES!!! JoLynne so glad you are feeling better 🙂

  19. Hope you have a wonderful day and cheer your team to victory. My family is in New England too, so they are on that band wagon. I’m going to be watching for the commercial that my daughter and son-in-law wrote for Shiner beer. Thanks for all you do!

  20. That SNL skit was hysterical.  I would love to win the pool I’m in, then I could clear my wish list at Nordstoms!  Have fun at your party.

  21. Go Eagles! We need this win so badly, redemption from 2004!! We are a family of lifelong Eagles fans, I can’t wait for the game.

  22. Sorry guess I’m def in the minority. Wouldn’t have posted but you DID ask if we were excited about the super bowl. . My husband and I are doing everything in our power to AVOID the super bowl. Totally boycotted the NFL games this year. Coming from a military family…and Seeing how political and anti flag and anti cop the NFL has been….we’re supporting REAL Patriots.

  23. Good evening….I’m a little late tuning in. 🙂  I am always amazed how much you get done on a Sunday morning before church.  Wow!!!  Anyway, I’m only excited about the Superbowl if our Seattle Seahawks are in it. 🙂 We live in Oregon but 3 hrs. from Seattle.  But, I want the EAGLES to win and so far they are ahead.  Go Eagles.  🙂  Your outfit is cute and love the blue sweater with the green vest and green nails you sported in your instagram.  Love that green color of the vest. Beautiful on you.  Glad your back is healing….. don’t over due.  Walking is probably a good idea to start out with.
