Coffee Talk + IG Roundup

Good morning! I thought I’d combine Coffee Talk with an Instagram Roundup today.

It’s been quite a busy week around here. My younger daughter had her championship basketball game on Tuesday, and they lost by one point in the last few seconds. It was a heartbreaker, for sure, but she came home with a 2nd place trophy, which is pretty cool. It was her first year playing basketball, and she loved it.

Wednesday night, I went to see a screening of Gifted, a new moving coming out on April 7th. You can see the trailer here. It was heartwarming and cute, and I appreciate that it was fairly clean.

Friday night, we hung out with friends in the ‘hood and ordered Thai food, but unfortunately I woke up yesterday feeling pretty cruddy. We managed to shoot two outfits, but I ended up cancelling my afternoon plans. I watched TV for a while and eventually went upstairs, crawled into bed, and took a nap. I went to bed early last night, and I still wasn’t feeling myself, but this morning I feel a little better. I don’t know if I’m fighting spring allergies or a virus or if the Thai food didn’t agree with me or what. It may be a combination of things, but hopefully whatever it is will pass quickly.

All I know is, I can’t get sick and miss our Savannah trip, so I’m trying some major mind-over-matter action today and hoping I continue to feel alright. My mom is coming to stay with the kids so Paul and I can get away for a few days, God bless her.

Instagram Roundup 03.26.17

So moving on to my Instagram Roundup! Thank goodness I put this together on Friday because it takes an age to gather all the links, and I’ve got to get moving if I’m going to be ready for church on time.

Instagram Roundup with Jo-Lynne Shane

Today is the LAST DAY of Nordstrom Triple Points until they run it again in May, so if you’ve been waiting to do your shopping, don’t let today get away from you. I actually thought yesterday was the last day, and I had a list of things I wanted to order, and then I forgot. I was so excited when I woke up this morning and realized I still have today. Remember, you can also earn Triple Points at Nordstrom Rack and Hautelook.

I’m ordering some of my favorite beauty products that I don’t want to run out of — a new summer foundation, my favorite neutral lipstick (Rosecliff) and my favorite self tanning lotion. I already ordered an extra mascara and brow pencil earlier this week. I always keep backups of those on hand. I also treated myself to the T3 hair dryer. My hair dryer has been on the fritz lately, and I’m afraid it’s going to completely stop working at the most inopportune moment, so I decided to go ahead and splurge on the T3 while I can earn Triple Points.

So here’s what I’ve posted to IG lately. A lot of these you may have already seen on the blog. Let me know if you like me to include the IG posts that I’ve already shared on the blog, or if I should keep these roundups to the pictures of what I actually wore. These posts can get pretty long, so I can leave out the blog posts if they’re too redundant, but if y’all prefer to see everything on one place, I can keep doing them like this.

Let’s start with this, one of my favorite outfits so far this spring. You can get more details in this post.

Topshop floral trumpet sleeve blouse // AG raw hem skinnies (similar for less) // Stuart Weitzman wedges // Tory Burch saddle bag // beaded hoops // photo credit: Dottie Foley Photography

I wore this outfit to church a few weeks ago. I don’t usually wear blue jeans, but our church is fairly casual so every once in a while I make an exception. I figured the accessories and booties canceled out the blue jeans.

Halogen cashmere v-neck (sold out) // AG raw hem ankle skinnies (similar for less; 30% off or 40% with LOVELOFT card, code SPRING17) // Stuart Weitzman camel suede booties // Love Always monogram necklace: gold plated; 3XL; 16″ chain

SALE ALERT >> Take 30% (or 40% with LOVELOFT card) off your LOFT order with code SPRING17!

I posted this throwback to February to share about a LOFT sale, and now the blazer and scarf are on sale again! More pictures in this post.

red blazer (30% off or 40% with LOVELOFT card; code SPRING17) // square scarf (30% off or 40% with LOVELOFT card; code SPRING17) // perfect white tee (10% off with code Jolynne10) // AG raw hem ankle skinnies (similar for less; 30% off or 40% with LOVELOFT card, code SPRING17)

This bell sleeve top is still fully stocked. It’s such a cute top for this time of year, and I love it with the skinny scarf. More details in this post.

This was a casual day at home. This turtleneck is sold out, and everything else is pretty old, but I’ll share it anyway because I love the color combo and it might inspire a more spring-like outfit, or some of you may have these pieces in your closet (although I hope to be done with boots and turtlenecks pretty soon!)

pink turtleneck (sold out) // DL1961 Emma skinnies // UGG boots (Nightfall)

I wore this to meet a friend for lunch a few weeks ago on one of our nicer days. More pictures in this post.

Express cover-up // Old Navy skinnies (Strawberry Dust) // perfect white tee (10% off with Jolynne10) // Tory Burch travel flats // Stella & Dot layered necklace // grey crossbody options here, here and here // triad hoops // photo credit: Dottie Foley Photography

This was St. Patrick’s Day. My older daughter had the day off from school (she does cyber school so she’s not on the same schedule with my other two) so we took a trip to the mall to get her some spring clothes. I was wondering why this picture is so fuzzy, and then I discovered that my iPhone camera lens had crud on it. I wiped it off, and my mirror selfies suddenly look clear again. Voila!

Halogen cashmere v-neck (sold out) // AG raw hem ankle skinnies (similar for less; 30% off or 40% with LOVELOFT card, code SPRING17) // Frye boots // similar faux leather moto // Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM

I can’t wait until I can start wearing this outfit for real. I love blue and white for spring. More pictures in this post.

This is what I wore to church last Sunday. This plaid popover has been restocked in all sizes! It’s really cute on, and I can roll up the sleeves and pair it with white jeans when it gets warmer. Yes, we had about 4 inches of snow on the ground last weekend. Thankfully it has mostly melted, and we are expecting warmer weather this week. YAY!

BR plaid popover (RESTOCKED!!!) // Frame black skinnies (similar for less) // Lucky Brand heels (on sale for $47.99!) // Kate Spade hobo (similar for less)

I snapped this when I got home from a photo shoot with Alison. I plan to take this outfit with me to the fashion blogging conference I’m attending next month, and maybe to Savannah next weekend. The shoes are so comfortable. More pictures in yesterday’s post.

I absolutely love this look. This blouse is spendy, but it’s really high quality and it looks great with both bootcut jeans and skinnies. More pictures in this post.

Joie blouse // 7 For All Mankind bootcut jeans (similar for less) // Stuart Weitzman wedges // Tory Burch saddle bag (another option; similar for less) // similar chandelier earrings // assorted Alex and Ani wire bangles // photo credit: Alison Cornell

I wore this earlier in the week. It’s a little dressier than what I normally wear for everyday, but I had it on for a photo shoot that morning and I didn’t feel like changing. More pictures in this post.

print v-neck top // bootcut jeans (also at Bloomies; similar for less) // Stuart Weitzman camel suede booties // Tory Burch saddle bag (another option; similar for less) // engravable circle pendant // white stone chandeliers

This coral denim jacket just screams SPRING, doesn’t it?? More pictures in this post.

I decided that I have way too many neutral shoes in my closet, so I picked up these pink sandals. I love how they pop with the black dress, and they look great with denim and white pants as well. More pictures in this post.

I wore this for a casual day at home. This is about as close to pajamas as you can possibly get with jeans and a pullover. So comfy.

Gibson twist front top // AG raw hem skinnies (similar for less) // Converse Shoreline (size down) // Lucky Brand pave necklace

This is a picture that didn’t make it into Friday’s post. While I’m ready for warmer weather, I really like how this camel reefer coat works with this outfit.

wool reefer // print v-neck top // bootcut jeans (similar for less) // perforated tote // engravable circle pendant // white stone chandeliers

And finally, this is similar to the outfit I wore around the house yesterday afternoon and evening. I actually put on the distressed version of these jeans because for some reason, they are softer and more comfortable, even though the material is supposedly the same. Maybe they’re softer because I wear them so much more.

side slit pullover // AG raw hem ankle skinnies (similar for less; 30% off or 40% with LOVELOFT card, code SPRING17) // Converse Shoreline (size down)

Someone made a comment on my Instagram about wearing jeans when I wasn’t feeling well, but honestly, I think these jeans are as comfortable as yoga pants, and I’m not one to wear pajamas around the house during the day. That said, I might have put on yoga pants, but I’ve lost my only pair. I need to go rifle through my kids’ dresser drawers and see if I can find them because I do miss having that option sometimes. Maybe I should just order a new pair while I can earn Triple Points!

Anyway, that side slit pullover is more comfortable than any pajama top I have, and the only reason I don’t sleep in it every night is because I don’t want it to be dirty when I want to actually wear it during the day. (And no, I didn’t put on shoes to lay around the house; this picture was taken a couple weeks ago.)

So that’s a wrap! It’s going to be cold and rainy here today, which sounds like a great day for an afternoon nap, if you ask me. I hope y’all have a restful and joyous Sunday!

  1. I love everything about Coffee Talk/Instagram Roundups and look forward to them! Which reminds me of something I’ve been wanting to say. It seems you stress about getting outside for photo shoots, no matter HOW cold or windy, and picking perfect locales, which I understand. But I personally think your bedroom selfies are just as good! Call me weird but I kinda like the casual nature of those and am writing because I hope you’ll stress less about perfection and just know we love you and your blog and posts. MAKE IT a great week!!

    1. Thanks, Diane, I appreciate that. And you’re not alone b/c my mirror selfies consistently get more likes than my professional photos, which drives my husband nuts, haha! I think both have their place.

  2. You will LOVE your T3 dryer! I swear by mine and actually have a back up and the travel version! They always have it at Anniversary sale for a great deal and usually a free flat iron included! Happy Sunday!

      1. I bought the twist top in small and returned it for the xs, returned that one too. So cute on you but frumpy on me 🙁 it was incredibly soft and cozy!

  3. I am a pear shape and also a cool with pink undertones. It makes such a difference to dress in your colors Love this round up

  4. Nice to see you in pink skinnies. I bought a pair last week but am waiting for spring like weather to wear them. Love Sunday’s coffee talk and round up.

  5. I really enjoyed the Instagram roundup this week. I want it all!! It is hard for me to justify buying a lot of out fits though because I work at home.; my husband and dog are the only ones who see me most days, . But the post give me lots of ideas on how to create from what I have.
    Thanks Jolynne!

  6. Great ideas! What about a cropped type pant for spring / summer. An ankle length that is cropped but not denim? Seen anything? I have several from last year but tried them on with new blouse with bell sleeve and it looked weird? Guess bell sleeves require a more tapered fits? I hate to not use any of those crops ( it is the perfect crop pant from Talbots’s a real basic). Thanks for any suggestions. Hope you feel better too!

  7. I’d be interested in seeing what you picked up for your daughter. I find shopping for teens is so difficult.

    1. Haha, so do I. We didn’t get very far. 🙁 We got her one top at Macy’s and that was it. We need to go to Kohl’s. I often do well for her there. She only wears American Eagle jeans, but the tops there were all too mature this season.

  8. I love how you do Sundays, so anything is fine with me, but I love the IG photos because I don’t do IG, so those on Sundays are new to me. I love the first photo with the bell sleeve floral blouse. I’m so tempted to order it, but I have so much in my closet right now I need to wear for Spring and waiting for it to go on sale later. 🙂 Love the photo of the white leather jacket with the green sweater. Soooo cute. I hope you get to feeling well soon to enjoy your trip. Looking forward to lots of photos from your trip and hear all about it. I enjoyed a GAP shopping trip with my 2 grown daughters this weekend, so could relate to the time you said you went shopping with your daughter. Those are special times. It was the Friends and Family with 50% off and then extra 10% if you used your GAP card and then on top of that we got extra 20% off with a stackable coupon they sent me for sending a sweater I ordered awhile back with a sensor on it. 🙂 So my daughters enjoyed 80% off with me. 🙂 Oh plus money off coupons to use in May for every so many dollars you spent. They kept asking me why I wasn’t buying anything with such great discount and I told them I’ve bought too much with the bloggers I’ve followed lately. (you and Cyndi) ha ha. Plus it was fun to just be their runner to get sizes etc. for them while they tried on. 🙂 Fun times. Bless your day.

  9. I agree with the previous commenter that you don’t necessarily have to take outdoor pictures, I think your indoor pictures are just fine! You always look great! Have a good week 🙂

  10. I would like to know your thoughts on the T3 hair dryer after you use it. I have been debating on buying one.
