Coral Cold Shoulder Top Two Ways

Well hello Monday! It’s the last week of school for us, and my kids couldn’t be more excited. Me? I’m mixed. I am looking forward to lazy mornings and warm summer afternoons spent at the pool, but I also know how hectic it gets with all three kids home so it will be an adjustment for sure.

I’m styling a short-sleeved cold shoulder top today, and don’t hate me, but it’s low inventory. I didn’t realize it when we took these pictures. It is so frustrating when this happens. It just arrived three days ago! On the plus side, it’s 60% off! (It also comes in the coral in petite sizes and those are fully stocked at the moment, and it comes in yellow and black.)

Anyway, I love this coral color for summer, and if you like these outfit ideas, you can easily apply them to any coral summer top. I styled it first with white jeans and heels for a fun date night look.

Coral Cold Shoulder Top with White Jeans and Blue Sandals & Leopard Clutch

I usually wear neutral shoes with a colored top and white jeans, but I think these blue suede sandals make a nice contrast to the coral top and add a fun point of interest. Bonus: they’re on sale!

I carried a leopard clutch because I like the addition of the texture and the print.

I’ve said it before, but these shoes are remarkably comfortable and easy to walk in for a 4-inch heel. I know not everyone cares to tromp around in 4-inch heels, so here’s a similar sandal in a lower heel. I like that shade of blue a lot too.

I like this top a lot but I do wish it were a little more fitted through the body. I’m not sure if that’s something that can be altered or not. I know it’s supposed to be a relaxed fit, but I noticed it was a little more slenderizing on the model on the website. I’m wondering if they had it cinched in the back or something. (I’m starting to get wise to these tricks! LOL!) I’m already wearing a small so I don’t think I could take it any smaller.

This top does require a strapless bra and I highly recommend this one.

I wore chandelier earrings and a gold cuff bracelet for accessories. I really like this look for a summertime date night or an event that doesn’t require a dress but you want to look dressed up.

This top also looks great with distressed blue jeans and casual neutral sandals.

These sandals are from The Walking Company and they are soooo comfortable. When I was struggling with foot injuries, my doctor recommended a shoe with a low wedge and this one fits the bill perfectly. It also has a built-in orthotic for those of you with finicky feet. The cork wedge sole and the studded straps keep them current.

These are my all-time favorite jeans but if you don’t like the distressing, you can wear whatever jeans you like. I do think a lighter wash is nice with this coral color and it’s trending this season. I almost styled this top with these frayed skinnies from LOFT. They look great with it as well.

I changed to stone drop earrings and a cognac leather hobo handbag in keeping with the more casual vibe of this look.

I like this top a lot and the lace detail is so pretty. I usually have a lot of this color in my summer wardrobe, but for some reason I find myself buying a lot of blue this year (which is nice too) but I miss corals and pinks. I rounded up some other nice options in coral for you to consider if this one is sold out in your size or if you prefer a top that doesn’t require a strapless bra.

This dolman tee is nice if you like a more casual top. Lou & Grey makes the softest shirts. This embroidered flutter sleeve top is cute, but definitely works better on women who are smaller up top. I love this halter but it is kind of low on the arms; I’d have to see how it looks on. This ruched tank could be cute on the right person; it’s a great color. Here’s another easy tee with a split shoulder for interest, and I really like the looks of this linen knit tank. Here’s a simple summer sweater (it would make a great layering piece) and another basic tee (no boob pocket, yay!) Finally, this bow top with ruffle trim would be adorable on the right woman; I wish I thought I could pull it off!

  1. I saw in that article you referenced on FB, that cold shoulder tops are going to be more popular than OTS—I thought that was interesting!! I know before I got my strapless bra, I’d just wear a normal bra under my shirt like this. As long as the bra straps are pretty (and about the same color) it’s not super weird!!
And can I tell you how much I love the blue shoes with the first variation??? Totally fun, Jo-Lynne!!

      1. Laughing into my coffee cup, Jo-Lynne. I’ve always envied those cute little bra straps. Mine are industrial, as well.
        Happy Monday!

  2. I have several tops in my closet in the coral family, and I love them all, especially since it is one of the better colors for me to wear. I cannot jump on the bra straps showing bandwagon, due to my southern Baptist upbringing. I like both ways that you styled the top! Have a great Monday! We’re having our carpet cleaned, so it’ll be a challenging day since it’s raining.

  3. I love how you styled this top two different ways. I can get in a rut, thinking a piece is either dressy or causal, not both, so posts like these are very helpful. I also love how you played with color.. those blue shoes are on my list of items to purchase to spruce up my wardrobe.
    Great post!

  4. Stunning look both ways. But those blue heels – OMGoodness, what a gorgeous color! Like the tip about the earrings. Always a dilemma for me on earrings & necklace. I have quite a few pieces of the old style traditional jewelry, monogrammed earrings, pendant, etc. but they are all smaller earrings. I hate not to wear them, as they are either white or yellow gold, but the good costume jewelry makes such a statement!
Our grandkids get out on the 19th, they were off a full week from that March snow. I’m anxious for this cool, dreary weather to end, and start enjoying some hot sunny summer weather!

    1. The 19th?! Wow! Since we didnt have much of a winter in my part of KY, my son’s last day of school was May 12. This was the earliest they’ve gotten out in years! I’m a teacher in the same district and my last day was May 18.

      1. I am always so amazed when southern schools get out in May! But then y’all go back super early too (in my perspective, lol.) I’m all for starting school after Labor Day and ending mid-June. But I think that’s b/c it doesn’t usually get hot here till mid-June and August has always seemed like vacation month to me.

        1. Jo-lynne, I would love if we could go back after Labor Day…ha. I totally agree with you that August is a vacation month. I mean, it’s still in the heat of summer for pete’s sake! Haha… School starts back August 7 for teachers with the kiddos first day being August 9! Much too soon! Lol…
I hope you have a wonderful summer with your family!

  5. Hi Jolynne! Super cute outfit and love the top and those blue shoes, oh so cute! Hey are you and Cyndi still doing your summer series? When does that start? I thought you all said last week but neither of you are mentioning it in your posts so maybe I am confused haha! Have a super day!

  6. Love both outfits Jo-Lynne! I always enjoy posts like this when bloggers style the same item two (or more!) ways, whether it’s casual & dressy or summer & fall. I know for me (and probably lots of other women), I have great items in my closet, but most of them I only wear one way. These type posts push me to think outside the box with my clothes. I’d love to see more similar posts! And btw I’m so glad you added the bright shoes instead of a neutral!

  7. Coral is another pretty color on you. I also love that you styled the comfortable, love-heeled sandals from The Walking Company. I also have fussy feet and need comfortable shoes but don’t want to compromise too much on style. These sandals fit the bill perfectly! Thank you!

  8. ????. I love this blog!! I have to say, I’m not a fan of the cold shoulder look but Jolynne, you can rock any look! Seriously, you look adorable! I will however be styling my coral top with white jeans and neutrals! Love!

  9. Would have never thought of mixing coral, white and blue shoes in an outfit, but you seem to make it work.
I am really considering those wedge shoes because I’m going back into sales and will need lots of comfy shoes. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Love that top! So pretty. And I noticed that it’s available in all sizes in Petites.

I’ve been on the lookout for a blue sandal. I found this one by Aerosole that I think would be comfortable, and it’s a good price (25% off right now). It also comes in other colors.

Your blue sandals are really cute, too!
