Coral Denim Jacket & Leopard Flats for Spring

Today I’m styling this coral denim jacket. My Old Navy jacket is sold out, so I linked a very similar jacket from Loft.

I’m a huge fan of a denim jacket, and this is such a pretty shade.

I went super simple with this outfit and threw the coral jacket on over a white tee with my favorite distressed jeans. My exact jeans are sold out, but these similar ones are available. I think it would also be cute over a navy top or tee, but I love the fresh, springy combination of coral and white and the way it pairs with this mid-wash denim.

My first inclination was to wear grey ballet flats, and then I decided leopard flats would be a fun addition to the look. I can also wear this with my espadrille wedges when the weather warms up, and I can see it with white Converse for a casual weekend look.

I don’t know what Dottie said to me at that moment, but it must have been funny.

I accessorized with a silver layered necklace and a few of my favorite D Yurman pieces.

This necklace totally takes the guesswork out of layering. It’s also a 3-in-1, so I can separate the shorter pendant and just have a long double-layered necklace, or I can wear the short pendant by itself. I usually keep the three pieces together, though. It’s perfect with v-neck tops.

I love a cognac bag with leopard flats. Mine has sold out, but this one from Michael Kors is very similar.  For a budget-friendly option, Target has this cute bag for $29.

This simple outfit formula could work for any color denim jacket — or any color blazer, for that matter. Feel free to sub your favorite jeans in any style, and if you don’t have leopard flats, a neutral would be just fine. I do like the pop of the pattern in the shoes, though.

Have a great Monday!

  1. What a great option for a denim vest, Jo-Lynne!! The color is perfect for spring and really, that price is super affordable!!
I think the leopard flats look fabulous with the outfit! I tend to pair my leopard with orange & red as my first choice, so this is something I could easily do!!

  2. Coral is such a great color on you. Every time you wear it you just glow! Love it. My kind of outfit!

  3. Love the coral color I just bought a couple of coral pieces for spring. On a different note, I like you background settings inyou pictures, is these in the town where you live?

    1. I don’t really live in a town. I’m out in the suburbs, but there are a couple of cute towns nearby where we like to go out to eat and things, and they make a great urban backdrop to my pictures. 🙂 It’s perfect for this time of year when the landscape is so bland.

  4. Love the coral jacket and wondering what size you are wearing? Also, can you explain how time consuming the wardrobe class is?
Thanks for all your great outfit ideas!!

    1. Hey Joy, good question! It’s the medium.

The class is time consuming, I am not sure how to estimate exactly how much time I spent a week on it, but you do want to be able to commit 100% to get the full value. I’d say I probably spent 2 or 3 hours a week on it. The first week is the most time consuming b/c you have to take measurements, figure out your body type, and there are 3 lessons, whereas there are 2 lessons for each of the remaining weeks. Even though all the course material will be distributed in the first 30 days, you do have 60 days to complete it all, so you can work at your own pace. I hope that helps!

  5. love the outfit – simple and casual……..I appreciate when you do a spring outfit that fits with real life right now……….it’s usually not until late April or May that we can actually wear sandals here in Ohio so this outfit paired with the ballet flats is spot on 🙂 Have a great week.

  6. Perfect!! I have some errands to run today & was hoping to leave the winter coat behind! I recently purchased a coral jacket very similar to yours, I’ve got the jeans and white tee. Thank you for providing me with the OOTD!

  7. My kind of outfit, for sure! I recently bought a coral utility jacket from Gap that I can use that looks like the same color.

  8. The coral is so cute and fun. It made me smile when I opened your email. As a redhead, I look dreadful in coral– it classes with my hair. But I love it on others. I did, however, throw the green jean jacket in my cart. Though I shop online at Banana Republic and Gap, I never think about Old Navy. I think I have it in my head that the clothes are poorly made, which is not necessarily true. Thanks for sharing, Jo-Lynne.

  9. I love this color on you, JoLynne -it makes that peaches and cream skin of yours “pop” even more !!! I have very similar pieces in my closet …. and have never thought to put them together ““ until now!!! Love this outfit.. you know how to take pieces and “elevate ” them from basic on their own – to a super cute outfit!!! I love that about your blog 🙂

  10. You need to try Articles Of Society denim. I just bought my first pair & they are amazing! Yours in this post remind me of my new pair and they are a fraction of the cost.

  11. Coral is a beautiful color on you! I love the whole outfit and can envision so many color and style options with this jacket. I think I’m going to have to add this to my closet!

Jo-Lynn, can you tell me again the product you use to help your eyelashes grow? And if you don’t mind, will you add the link so I can order it from you?

Have a happy 1st day of Spring!

  12. Love the color. How do you feel about denim on denim? I think I would do denim jacket with a twill pant or khaki fitted pant. I think I have nightmares from my mid-90s’ black skinny jeans with matching black denim jacket…from Jordache no less! I wore that outfit to death…and now can’t seem to make denim jacket with jeans work for me. Too 1994! But you make this work, very well!

    1. Well, first, I don’t consider this denim on denim. I mean, I know it is, lol, but I have no problem with a white or color denim with blue or black denim. I do that a lot. Blue denim on blue denim is actually trending at the moment — but I totally get where you are coming from! The trick to making it work is to wear two denims that contrast — so a darker with a lighter. I still haven’t jumped on that bandwagon, and I’m not sure I will, but the coral with the blue jeans doesn’t read denim on denim to me. It’s definitely a matter of preference, though. 🙂

  13. Now I can’t decide between the coral and the olive!

I just finished the Adore Your Wardrobe course, and I learned so much about my body type and what doesn’t work on me…I know I’ve already saved a lot of $$ by not not buying items that hang in the closet unworn. I recommend it highly!

    1. Same here! It was time and money well-spent. Frustrating days of looking in my closet and thinking, “Nope, I don’t want to wear that” are gone. I love everything in my closet, know it all fits me well, and is flattering. And I I have the skills to make sure it stays that way.

  14. I just ordered that coral jacket! You look great in that color by the way. That is what I consider a happy color…just perfect for the first day of spring.

  15. This is super cute and comfy looking, but still well put together. I just moved some winter items out of my closet today, including my leopard flats….but I think I’ll take them back out again ???? Thanks so much for sharing!

  16. Oh man… Now I want this jacket. I already have a mint denim jacket, and a light wash and a dark wash denim… But I LOOOOVE coral. Like you said, it would look cute with navy – especially a navy & white striped tee! Anyway, I’m pretty sure that I’m going to find my way to Old Navy in the very near future.

  17. Could you tell us what size you purchased? Reviews state that it runs small? Thank you! Totally my kind of outfit!

  18. Love that color on you. Well I finally decided to take the class. I’m loving it so far and just figured out my body type. I was surprised. Now I know why certain clothes do not look good on my body. I buy something because it looks great on a blogger but awful on me. Im a short waisted pear. I’m curious now what is yours. I think you look amazing in boot cut jeans. Skinnies are nice too but I see a different in how the boot cut fit you. Anyways thank you for sharing the program.

    1. Yes, discovering my body type was SUCH an epiphany! I really had no idea what I was. I thought I was an apple or carrot, or maybe straight, but I’m curvy. And I did know I was short waisted, so at least there’s that, ha! So I’m “allowed” to wear skinny jeans – which is a good thing b/c I don’t think I would be convinced to give them up. I still do like a good bootcut jean, and I can see how they are more flattering on most people, but I don’t find them practical for everyday because I only wear them with heels. Anyway, I am excited for you (and all the newbies taking the course!) It really is eye opening, and Course 2 is even better – it really pulls it all together.
