Cozy Cardigan + Bouclé Scarf

Hello and welcome back to 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Yesterday I shared my holiday cocktail party outfit, and I also posted a roundup of festive tops to pair with jeans this holiday season. I hope those posts are helpful if you have events coming up in the next few weeks.

Today we’re back to casual and cozy with a cardigan and jeans. I don’t find myself gravitating to cardigans very often, but this BP. rib trim long cardigan is $49, super soft, and comes in 4 or 5 colors. The black and navy are nice, and the burgundy is really pretty, but I was drawn to this beige oatmeal heather. I wore it over a beige tee with my favorite skinnies, and then I added a cozy plaid bouclé scarf and red suede booties.

This sweater definitely has an oversized fit, so I recommend sizing down. I’m wearing the small, and I really think an XS would look better and be just as cozy.

I swear to you, this scarf was in stock as of yesterday. It is like the second I go to post an outfit, the scarf disappears. This one is similar in color and texture, and it’s actually not quite as bulky, which might be nice. The one I’m wearing is great for keeping you warm, but I feel like I get a little bit swallowed up in it.

And I have more disappointing news. These booties have sold out in the sable suede. I’m not sure what’s up with that because they didn’t appear to be low inventory when I purchased them. They’re available in a lot of other colors, though. I believe this Natania bootie and this Ramses bootie are the same color, although they’re calling it open brown/rust. I was really trying to find booties in a deep burgundy color, but I didn’t have much luck.

At any rate, you can’t go wrong with Lucky Brand booties. Their shoes are always very well made and incredibly comfortable. I think you get a lot of bang for your buck at that price point.

FYI, these AG legging ankle jeans are on sale for 25% off at Bloomingdale’s. Yes, they’re pricey, but the fit is amazing and they hold up to a lot of wear and tear. I like this raw hem style without any other distressing, but they also come in a traditional hem as well as several distressed versions. See all AG legging ankle jeans at Bloomingdale’s here.

Altogether this cozy, casual look is perfect for weekend wear or casual days at home or running errands. If I was going to be doing a lot of errands and getting in and out of the car in chilly weather, I’d layer a long-sleeve tee under the cardigan for warmth, and I wouldn’t even need a coat.

This cozy cardigan outfit with plaid bouclé scarf is perfect for chilly winter days. The burgundy suede booties are the perfect bookend to the outfit.

  1. Once again, you look fabulous!  How do you keep the long sleeves of your tops from bunching up under the cardigan sleeves?  I am having issues!  Thanks!

Now that the fog has burned off, it’s a sunny day, with the high getting up in the mid 70’s today.  However, the bottom is falling out tonight.  For the next 10+ days, our highs will be in the 40’s and 50’s, which I love.  But it will feel so much colder after all of the warm days we’ve had recently.  And we have rain moving in tonight, so I have to get the yard mowed/leaves mulched this afternoon.

    God bless!

    1. Hey Ginger. When I wear a long-sleeve tee under a cardigan, I usually pull the sleeves of the tee down so they show beyond the sleeves of the cardigan. That way everything stays in place, and I like the contrast of the shirt against the sweater. This was a short sleeve tee so it wasn’t an issue. 🙂

Mid-70s, wow!! I’m glad you have some more seasonal weather coming. I don’t know about you, but I think it makes the holidays seem more festive. Good luck getting the yard work done!

  2. You always look great! Your style is for the everyday woman! Casual, but classy and trendy! You are so put together with everything you wear! Love the scarf.! Very cloudy here in Boston, with rain and wind moving in tonight! It’s only 45 degrees here! We’ve had great weather so far and we can’t complain! Love your blog.

  3. For FB Live, would you please comment on using steamers vs ironing?  I have a hand held steamer as well as a travel size, but I’m debating getting a full size professional one. Thanks!

  4. Love to be cozy in cardigans and scarves.  Looks great.  Its beautiful sunny here but we had our first freeze last night and its going to be cold all week.  I love the cold and clear though this time of year.  I’m really ready for snow, so hoping we get some this year.  (Oregon)

  5. I have cardigans but truthfully, I rarely wear them. If it’s cold enough for a cardigan, I’ll be wearing one of my leather jackets. I sometimes wear a cardigan inside, if I’m chilly, so it’s nice to have a couple.
It’s a little chilly here today but the sun is peaking through. I’m not a snow person so I prefer it stays up on the mountain where I can see it (beautiful) but not have to shovel, or drive in it.

  6. I love that outfit….it looks so warm and cozy! You always look fabulous. I’ve copied so many of your looks….thanks for the ideas and inspiration!
I love the colder weather for the holidays, too……it seems more festive when it’s cold enough for hot chocolate! It’s near 70 today here in southeast Virginia, but the cold weather is headed our way. We even have a chance of a wintry mix hitting our area!

  7. I’m hoping to make the FB live chat tomorrow, but not sure if I can. In case I can’t make it happen– For FB tomorrow–
I’m looking for black heels to wear for New Year’s Eve. The venue is casual– I’m wearing black coated jeans and a sparkly tank top, but I can’t figure out what shoes to wear. My heeled boots seem to casual. Pumps look cute with the outfit, but I can’ t dance in pumps! Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

  8. Ha… I just had on my jeans, light grey sweater coat and scarf along with booties (Franco Sarto) I just bought in the same color you styled today. Great minds think alike????

  9. Thos os my kind of outfit! I even have several of those exact pieces. The booties really are comfortable and easy to wear all day long.
