Crop Straight Jeans + Coral Sandals

Happy Friday, friends! As of today at noon, all three of my kids are officially done with school for the year, and we’re all super excited to be officially ringing in the summer season!

Meanwhile it’s day 6 of 25 Days of Summer Fashion, and I’m excited to share these crop straight jeans with you!

As you know, I haven’t had a lot of luck with this trend, so I was over the moon when I tried these on and saw how well they fit.

Plus I also really like the wash for a cropped jean. It’s the perfect blue, and the subtle texture to the denim has a fresh, summery look about it.

The extra wide hem is also a nice touch and works really well on crops.

They have a 24 1/2″ inseam and a 14″ leg opening, so they’re a little shorter than the other crops I’ve tried, but they still end well below the widest part of my calf.

FIT TIP: You never want the hem of your pants (crops or capris) to end at the widest part of your calf. It cuts your leg off at an unflattering spot and makes you look shorter.

I will say that I don’t love the whiskering at the hip, but you otherwise they’re pretty much perfect in every way!

These jeans are true to size; I have the 8 but I could possibly size down to a 6, as they do stretch some with wear.

For this look, I paired them with a top I’ve already featured a few times — this graphic tee from Boden.

This top is really fun, and I’ve been wearing it a ton this spring. It pairs perfectly with jeans, shorts, cargo pants, and I think I’ll try it next with my new denim skirt.

This top is true to size; I have it in a small. It comes in several colors/patterns, and I love it so much that I also got it in the navy!

It has cap sleeves and a high-low hem, and it’s made of a nice quality cotton that’s not at all see-through. It’s sort of a “grown-up graphic tee,” if you will.

I usually do a front-tuck with this top, and you can see how that looks from the side here.

So these sandals… aren’t they the cutest? I fell in love with this bright coral, but they also come in black and taupe.

The back strap is adjustable, so you can really get them to fit to your foot, and because of all the straps, they stay on well when you walk. The footbed has no support, but it’s slightly padded, and I find them very comfortable.

I also carried this little rattan crossbody. It’s lined with a fun fabric, and I love the shape.

It’s just big enough for my phone and a few essentials — perfect for those times when you don’t need to carry a lot and you want something cute and trendy that won’t break the budget.

This is the perfect outfit for running errands, a trip to the mall, and causal summer get-togethers when you don’t want to wear shorts or a dress.

Everything I’m wearing can be mixed and matched with other pieces in my closet for a bunch of different summer looks.

Outfit Details:

Boden Robyn tee // Kut from the Kloth Lauren crop jeans // BP. Lana sandals // rattan crossbody // earrings // bracelet

  1. Those sandals are adorable, Jo-Lynne!! I love the punch of color!

  2. Hi Jolynne!
Wonderful post! I am thinking of ordering the Boden graphic tee, it is so cheerful and cute. But I don’t know if I have ever ordered Boden before, does it run true to size? I’m normally a large or XL just wondering how they fit? Thank you for any help.

  3. SCORE!  I’m so glad you finally found a pair of straight legged crop jeans that you are happy with.  And the sandals are the perfect bookend.  Welcome to summer!  We are finally getting some much needed rain.

  4. Ooooo, I like those crops! Every time I see you wear that tee (like it’s so often…LOL) I just think it’s so cute. The shape of your rattan bag is cute too. I finally caved and got a round one. So good for summer! Hip Hip Hooray for no more school!!! Happy Summer!

  5. Very cute outfit!  I really like the bag too, but it’s a bit too small for me. After reading your email, I was checking out the Boden dresses. I had ordered the print one you have, and then I saw you in the navy one and I wanted to check it out again, since it’s on sale. Imagine my surprise to see a photo of you on the website!  Very cool.

  6. Those jeans are so cute on you! I kind of like that they are a tad loose on you. They look more comfy and effortless that way. So great that all your kids are out of school for the summer–I have 3 children too and remember that feeling, even though mine are adults now!

    1. Whiskering is the fading formed from creases on the front pocket area of jeans. It happens naturally, but it’s also one of the forms of distressing that denim makers use to make them look more lived in. Like all forms of distressing, some looks better than others, depending on the process used and the quality of the denim and all that. In the case of these jeans, I think it looks kind of goofy, but not a deal breaker. 🙂

  7. Oh that purse.. it’s so cute. I’m debating between one like it or a crochet bag with wooden handles. Finally a hot day by the pool and more to come this weekend 😎

  8. I don’t know why but I stopped getting your emails? I didn’t unsubscribe. Is there a reason why?
    Thanks!
    Love the outfit!!

  9. I like the look of the jeans.  I think the wider hem really is the added touch and they aren’t too wide at the bottom. I do think you could wear the size 6.  I’m like you, I’m not a fan of whispering. I find that too often with the lighter washes. I find the pair I like but then the whispering. 🙁 I want just solid denim.  Glad you found a pair you like. I still haven’t gotten there.

  10. PS.  Enjoy your official start to summer. I really miss those days with kids home and you get that feel.  I’m emptied nested and I just don’t get that “SCHOOLS out” vacation feel or the “SCHOOLS out” Christmas vacation feel.  Time goes so fast.

  11. I ordered these crops and the sizing is perfect. BUT, I’m so disappointed— the white distressing on the upper thigh is very prominent, not as pictured on the website or on the pair you are wearing.  What’s more, the distressing is not the same length on both legs, extending below the knee on one leg.  I’m returning, hopefully to get a darker pair, but no guarantees.

    1. Hey Jan, I’m sorry. That’s annoying. Yeah, I agree that the whiskering is a little more prominent in person than it showed on these pix, which is why I mentioned it. But it could very well be that every pair is a little different. I hope the next pair you get is more to your liking.
