Currently Crushing: Snake Print

Hello and happy Friday! Unless you’re living under a rock, you know that snake print is having a moment this fall in the fashion world.

Of course, if you are living under a rock, you are probably personally acquainted with several snakes. Haha! In fact, just the other day, we went to move a garden bin away from the deck, only to find a garden snake living underneath. *shudder*

ANYWAY. While not everyone is a fan of the slithery creature, the print is a fun way to add a subtle pattern to your outfit, and it’s super easy to style because it reads as a neutral.

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten

Today I’ve got a roundup of fun snake print pieces you may want to consider adding to your wardrobe this fall.

You can find snake print in warm and cool tones, so choose whichever works best with your coloring and your wardrobe.

Most of these pieces can be worn now and later, making them an even better bang for your buck!

10 Ways to Wear Snake Print this Fall

#1. snake print pants // If you’re feeling sassy, these BlankNYC snake print crop pants are a fun way to add some pizazz to your casual looks, and they’re on sale for $58 with code FALL.

You can see me wearing them in this Try On Haul. They run true to size; I have the 29.

#2. snake print handbag // This mini crossbody by All Saints is a great little going-out bag, and the print won’t overwhelm your look. Another option that’s a better everyday size is this snake print saddle bag, also by All Saints.

#3. snake print jacket // I’m crushing on this snake print moto from White House Black Market. I love the styling — it looks like it would be super flattering. It’s also 30% off through Sunday with code 52341.

#4. snake print scarf // And about a snake print scarf? This one is 40% off with code FUNFUNFUN.

#5. snake print booties // I picked up these snakeskin embossed booties at the #NSale, and I can’t wait to start wearing these. I suppose I could begin wearing them now with short sleeves, but I’m trying to get my cost per wear out of my sandals while I can.

I recommend sizing up a half size from your normal Vince Camuto size; I have the 8.5.

#6. snake print top // This snake print tank is a fun stand-alone piece with black or white jeans for a night out, or you can wear it with pants and layer it under a blazer or cardigan for a stylish work wear look. I like that it’s bra-friendly.

#7. snake print loafers (more sizes here) // A snake print loafer is a great way to participate in this trend that’s not quite as edgy as the booties. You could totally wear these to work with pants and a blouse, or on the weekends with jeans and sweaters.

#8. snake print heels // Or go all out with a pair of snake print heels. I love the cut of these shoes — so flattering. They would make a great date night shoe, or even spice up a work wear look if your office is more dressy.

#9. snake print blouse // Speaking of spicing up a work wear look, this ruffle blouse is another nice piece you can dress up or down. I don’t think I’d wear the snake print belt with it, though.

#10. snake print dress // Finally, go all out in head-to-toe snake print with this ruffle wrap dress.

Did I mention that ruffles are another big trend this fall? That makes this dress a two-fer, along with the blouse above.

Do you have any favorites, or are you sitting this trend out?

  1. I had a pair of snakeskin pants several years ago and got rid of them. Why did I do that??? Ugh! Anyway, there are so many ways to wear this trend – I’m looking forward to wearing my new booties soon!
    xo,
    Kellyann

  2. You KNOW I love EVERYTHING!  LOL.  I have a love affair with all animal prints/textures, and I bought two pairs of the Vince Cameo Gigietta python ankle boots at the NSale, both in the plum/cool and grey/cream warm tones.

Bring it on, baby.  Love it!  And if I wasn’t bottom heavy living in suburbia, I’d be all over those python pants.  JoLynne, rock your bad self and grab them!

    1. Amy,
I bought 2 pair (different heel heights) at Penney’s last week. I wear a 7.5 and that’s what I purchased, fit nicely.

      1. Thanks! I just bought a pair of snakeskin booties from JCP for $30.00 after coupon! Thanks for letting me know. Good to hear they’re comfy too! I always worry about ordering shoes on line.

  3. I was thinking of starting small with a snakeskin scarf until I realized that it would probably terrify some of my snake phobic friends if it looked like I was wearing a snake around my neck.
Maybe boots would be better.  I do like the trend.

  4. Right now I only have a snakeskin bag, but I’m thinking about some pumps for fall. TBD! I really like the way LOFT does their print with the pinky/blush tones. It’s pretty! Thanks for hosting one last hurrah with Fashion Friday! It’s been great of you to do it for so long but I understand being ready to move on and change things up. Have a great weekend!

  5. I’m thankful we have the option to embrace a trend or recoil from it! Though I think some snakeskin fashions look classy such as WHBM’s line, I will let this trend slither on by! Have fun at the wedding!

  6. Love all things snakeskin! Ordered those Jeffrey Campbell booties during the nsale. But alas I realized they would not be worn with my lifestyle. They are gorgeous. Have a wonderful weekend and a fun time at your wedding.

  7. I have a snake skin design coat that I love. I think it makes a subtle statement.  Buy the moto jacket, JoLynne! It’s a style you wear well.

Woohoo! A Saturday off! Weddings are always fun.

  8. I love snake print although it really should be called python print!  I am wearing a snake print belt today with my pink pants and chambray button down.  I have owned snake print )loafers for many years. I spent too much on them at the time but now realize that my cost for wear is probably just pennies!  You often say spend on the classics, this is so true!   I wear snake like others wear leopard/cheetah. This fall I want to add a tank like the one you show to wear under blazers to work and with jeans and cardigans on weekends. I love the booties but still trying to justify!  Thanks as always!  Great ideas.

  9. I bought a pair of snakeskin booties during the N sale that I’m anxious to wear.  I would have preferred a lighter tone, but had to go with the pair that fit the best.  And since they will be away from my face, I think I’ll be okay.  Enjoy the family wedding this weekend!  I hope the weather will be nice.
