You guys, life just keeps getting crazier. As if trying to compile and taste test 300 recipes in 60 days isn’t enough, I got a last minute invitation (on Saturday) to appear on the Dr. Oz show and make over the Philly Cheesesteak into a healthier Dr. Oz approved version.

They wanted me to create the recipe and videotape it and turn it in within 24 hours, which I managed to talk them into 48. So last night we were all lights, camera action around here, and this morning I got word that I need to be in NYC tomorrow (WEDNESDAY) to record the show!

I will be SHOWING Dr. Oz how to make the cheesesteak. With real food and everything. JUST LIKE I’m RACHEL RAY or somebody!

Of course, he may not agree that the healthy version includes full fat cheese and heart-healthy grass-fed red meat! HA! We’ll see how that goes . . .

But barring inclement weather or illness, I’ll be hanging with Dr. Oz tomorrow in NYC.

Add to that a snow day today, and I hardly going to get any cookbook prep done this week.

And of course, I’m writing this post when I really should be cooking something. And naturally this is the week that I have TWO WEEKS worth of photos since last week I posted over at Cyndi’s blog.

But I’m gonna try to keep this short and sweet. Or, um, as short as I get.

This B.P. sweatshirt I bought on a whim on the Nordstrom website. Yes, there are tears in the shirt. EVERYONE looks at me twice and asks if they are supposed to be there.

Yes. Yes, they are. I probably look like an old lady trying to reclaim her youth every time I wear it, but you know what? It was cheap (and I’m not supposed to be spending money . . . d’oh) and it does not cling to my ever expanding muffin top. (Cookbook creation is definitely not a diet plan I would recommend!) So I’m wearing it and you don’t have to like it. (Which is what I told my friend when she told me she wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t ask for her opinion, anyway. Hmph.)

casual day

I love the orange Tory Burch bracelet from my mom for Christmas. I wear it every chance I get. And skinny jeans and UGGs are a must with this frigid weather, can I get an amen?

Don’t know where I wore this but isn’t it cute?? I love these colors. I always feel dynamite in bold jewel tones paired with black or charcoal.

leather-and-purple

I wore this to a church brunch on a very rainy winter day. I thought the gray boots were a nice contrast with the green pants, and then I wanted a comfy sweater so I chose the oatmeal dolman sleeve sweater. I usually wear black with these jeans, and I really like the oatmeal for a change. It was cold that day that I went for a scarf rather than a necklace. The Brasilia Crossbody clutch was a product sample. Everything else was purchased by moi!

It was a mild day so I dug out my leopard patent leather pumps. Rather than my black or gray cords I decided to go for my darkest skinny jeans with this teal sweater. I like the combination!

You’ve seen this, and don’t miss the LAST DAY to get 20% off (use code MOAH) on any of the items in my Blogger Picks Collection at Good Night Macaroon!! See this post for more details. I wore this to my son’s band concert. The necklace and earrings were a gift from my mother-in-law for Christmas. A woman in her retirement community made them. Pretty cool, huh??

drapey-cardigan

I wore my gray tunic with black leggings and red boots (a gift from JAFA Shoes) into Philly to see We Will Rock You at the Academy of Music. It was an AMAZING show. I carried the Brasilia Crossbody because I knew I wouldn’t have room in my seat for a big bag, and I was right. It’s tight in there, but it was so cool to be in such a historic building.

You’ve seen this look as well. The vest is also from Good Night Macaroon (use code MOAH to get 20% off!)

puffer vest

Finally, this is definitely a casual look, but I was only going to physical therapy and I was dying to wear this teal Twist Half Zip Hoodie that my mom got me for Christmas. It’s a bit, ahem, tight. Which is why I wore the puffer vest over it for most of the day. I love the color and the detailing on the shoulders.

That’s it for this week!!! Be thinking of me tomorrow while I’m in NYC hanging with Dr. Oz, trying to convince him that my version of a healthy cheesesteak involves red meat and full fat cheese! HA!

  1. Safe travels today! Looking forward to seeing your show air. Love the outfits – and crazy how up and down the temps have been, so you get to show off outfits from more than one season!

  2. Dr. Oz?! Mega-congrats, that’s fantastic!!
    Bet your kids are thrilled!
I’m thinking (& hoping!) he should be fine with the red meat, since he seems ahead of the mainstream & they’ve invited you expressly to make that, after all! ; )
Can’t wait to see you on the show — it’lll feel like watching a personal friend on big-time TV.
Looking forward to seeing what you wear, too, Jo-Lynne!

  3. Dr. Oz – Awesome. I’m so excited for you!!! I can’t wait to watch. You’ll be fabulous and your Philly cheese-steak sounds wonderful. He’ll love it, I’m sure.

    Congrats on this opportunity.

  4. OMG! How exciting! Between the cookbook and the TV appearance, you are on a roll. We’ll be able to say “we knew her when…”! Have a safe and fun trip.
