Fashion Over 40 | Daily Mom Style 04.02.14

I feel like this post could be about three separate posts. In fact, it probably should be. I never know if it’s better to create several smaller posts or one huge one when I’m experimenting with new outfits. But I definitely have A LOT to share this week!

NEW Boyfriend Jeans

I already posted on Monday about my new boyfriend jeans. I just couldn’t wait to share, plus I knew the 40% off at LOFT was ending on Tuesday. In case you missed it, here is my new outfit! LOVE. Everything is new. I’ve been coping with our ridiculous, non-existant spring with a little retail therapy! If it isn’t springtime outside, at least it is on me! Ha!

How to Style Mint Skinny Jeans

Then the mint colored skinny jeans I ordered a few weeks ago FINALLY came. I’m so excited to style pastels, one of my favorite spring trends this year.

I spent some time taking inventory of my closet and playing around with different outfits. I will have more to work with when I get my spring/summer clothes down from the attic. Or maybe I won’t need them at the rate I’ve been shopping lately. Ha! Here are a few outfits I came up with, and now I have that white Open Stitch Sleeve Sweater too!

Shop These Looks

I think this outfit is my favorite, but it won’t take me very far into spring.

For a springier look, I really like my mint jeans with my new Splendid Stripe V-Neck Sweater. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about pairing coral stripes with a contrasting color, but I actually think it works really well. I’m pretty proud of myself!

Introducing Evy’s Tree!

As if that’s not enough new clothes to style, I recently received this adorable sweatshirt for review from Evy’s Tree, a mom-owned luxury comfort wear brand. LOVE the idea of luxury comfort wear — perfect for the casual life I lead!!! I chose the Teal Lizzy Zip-Up. Even the packaging is special.

I wasted no time trying it on the day it arrived, a cold, rainy Saturday. The material is unbelievably soft and lightweight, perfect for spring and summertime. The asymmetrical zipper is stylish and fun, and it’s equally adorable with jeans or yoga pants.

I actually rather like it with these almond moto skinnies {similar} and my orange flats (old).

A Dress!

Finally, I wore this dress to church on Sunday. It was another cold, rainy, messy day, but we had plans to go out to lunch with my inlaws after church so I got gussied up. I KNOW! It seems like years since I wore a dress!

This dress is an oldie but a goodie. I picked it up on a whim at the Banana Republic Outlet several years ago and I’ve gotten a ton of wear out of it. It’s pretty much my go-to winter dress. I have another that is dressier, but this one is perfect for church and any business-related events. It goes from day to night without a hitch! I wore my Kendra Scott earrings (swag from a blogging event many moons ago) — the colors go perfectly with this dress. I stacked a few bracelets and then pulled on tights and boots. Did I mention, it was cold? I am so over this spring, I can’t even tell you.

Because it was raining, I wore my teal trench coat, which is also old. I actually bought this coat when we lived in our old house; we’ve lived here for almost nine years, if that gives you any indication how old this coat is! That is the nice thing about buying classic pieces. You truly can wear them for years. I’m definitely feeling like there’s a color theme this week! Funny how that happens sometimes.

So that’s a wrap! Tons of new looks for spring. Now, if the weather would catch up to me, we’d be all set!

  1. I love your ‘boyfriend’! I have a 15.00 pair from Old Navy and a very expensive CAbi pair – love them both equally! My teen thinks I am too old I say ‘no way’!

  2. Oh, love all the mint stuff, I’ve been thinking of buying a pair for Spring. I love that jacket and that dress, too cute! Stopping in from I Feel Pretty Link Party.

  3. There are so many great outfits to comment on, I don’t know where to start! I love that you are incorporating spring into your wardrobe even if it’s not quite here yet. And those mint jeans are awesome. I love all the ways you’ve worn them!

  4. You look amazing in those boyfriend jeans!!! I bought my first pair a few years back and they do take some getting used to but I promise they’ll be your new favorite pair. The mint jeans are really pretty too, really like how you paired them up with the stripes!
