Daily Mom Style: 30 Days of Outfits {Week 2}

Fashion Over 40 #OOTD

I’m well into Week 2 of my 30 Days of Summer Outfits challenge, and so far I’m having fun. I’d be having MORE fun if I hadn’t been stuck on the couch all last weekend with dreadful toothache pain and nausea, but let’s not dwell on that!

For those just tuning in, I decided that I have too many clothes that I don’t wear so I’m challenging myself to wear a different outfit every day for 30 days. I hope some of you will join me! I’ll be hosting a Linky on July 1st where we you can link up a post or a Pinterest board of the 30 outfits you’ve worn this month.

Here are the rules:

  1. Wear a different outfit every day for 30 days. Try to wear as many different pieces from your wardrobe as possible.
  2. You CAN repeat pieces of clothing, as long as you don’t repeat an entire outfit. So you can wear the same jeans twice, but not with the same top. Kapish?
  3. Take a photo each day and post them on July 1st. Then link up your post to my 30 Days of Outfits carnival. (If it’s too much of a hassle to take a picture of YOU wearing your outfit each day, you can always just take a photo of the clothes by themselves.) It’s super easy to use PicMonkey to make a collage of your outfits. Or if pictures and collages sound daunting, just list what you wore; that’s fine too! I’m easy! This is for fun, not to be stressful. If you don’t have a blog, you can link to a Pinterest board that you create.

Here is what I’ve been wearing this week!

30 Days of Summer Outfits {Days 6 – 12}

Day 6: Coral and pink striped top from LOFT with cuffed jeans shorts and silver flips — just an easy, casual outfit for a day kicking around the house.

Who needs a haircut!? I remedied that problem the very next day.

Day 7: Black maxi skirt with orange tank (Banana Republic) and orange/taupe/black/white scarf (Banana Republic Outlet, new!!) The silver wedge flip-flops are Reefs, and I wore a simple silver chain link bracelet. I posted about how this outfit came together in my How to Style a Maxi Skirt post.

Incidentally, Banana Republic is running a 35% off promotion for today and tomorrow. This could be dangerous. (Code is SAVE35BR if you’re interested!)

Day 8: Black Ruffle top (CAbi) with red jeans (DL 1961 Emma Legging) and black patent wedge sandals. The silver necklace is Stella & Dot, and I wore dangly silver earrings and a grouping of black and silver stretch bracelets.

I really wanted a higher, sexier shoe (this was a date night) but it was chilly and rainy and I wanted something I could walk in comfortably so I just stick to these. I guess they worked. This outfit is actually one of three that I tried on to wear that night. I got quite an incredible response on my Facebook page when I posted the three outfits to get feedback. I like the other two outfits so I might try to incorporate them later this month, but this one felt more like a date night to me although the red jeans are a little too short for my liking. Why yes, I AM a little OCD, thanks for noticing.

Date Night: red jeans and black ruffle top

Day 9: White V-Neck 3/4-Sleeve Tee (CAbi) with coral shorts (J.Crew Factory, new!!) and pink/coral statement necklace.

I’d been dying to wear this outfit ever since I bought the shorts and necklace at the J.Crew Factory Outlet a few weeks ago. I put it on to wear to a Blues Festival on Saturday and had to have my husband turn the car around when I started feeling sick on the way there. I had thought I was feeling well enough to go but alas. It was not meant to be. So I ended up wearing this outfit to doze on the couch while my family attended the festival. Good times!

I love the necklace. I don’t have anything like it, and I can’t wait to wear it again!

I think this outfit would be cute with a chambray shirt tied at the waist. I really need to get one of those!

Day 10: Purple tank with cut-offs and Puma sneakers.

In light of my struggles with plantar fasciitis, I’ve been advised to spend more of my time wearing supportive shoes. I just laughed when my doctor told me this and said, “Clearly you haven’t seen my blog!” Sneakers aren’t usually the fashion statement I like to make, but I need to be more sensible if I want to continue training for this half marathon so I figured I’d at least buy a pair that are cuter than my typical running shoe. I actually like the looks of these quite a lot — plus they are very supportive and comfortable.

Day 11: Blue and white striped top with white jeans and silver ballet flats.

I’ve love this top that I picked up at Old Navy last spring. It makes me feel very French for some reason! I wore this outfit to get a root canal (joy!) and then to my son’s 7th grade awards assembly.

Day 12: Magenta (yes, it is magenta, not red, I have no clue why it looks red in this picture!!) Timeless V-Neck Tee with gray khaki cuffed shorts (both from Banana Republic last year) with brown embellished sandals. The necklace is from Studio Jewel. Adding an accessory to the simplest of outfits always takes the style quotient up a notch or two.

I was actually a good girl and wore my sneakers when I left the house, but I couldn’t resist taking the picture with the sandals I’d prefer to wear.

  1. LOVE that coral necklace!! All very nice looks. I have fallen behind in the 30in30 but I plan on taking a day and making it up!! 🙂

  2. I like every single outfit this week! I especially like the maxi skirt with that scarf and I really like the Old Navy striped top. Thanks for posting these ideas! I’m off to do some online shopping/perusing…

  3. Are we supposed to tell you which ones we like? Okay! I’ll spout off anyway 🙂 I think I always like your white clothes. The white shirt has a great shape and neckline – perfect! And the white jeans are always fab. The more I look at the maxi skirt with that stupendous scarf, the better and better it is. I would pull out that scarf and that shirt and wear them with other black bottoms. You look great as usual! Regarding the 30-day thing, once recently I did a little shopping. Found some good shirts. Thought I might be slightly improved over my former dumpy self. Took some bathroom mirror pics, and quickly realized that posting them was NOT something I wanted to do – haha! I’ll enjoy your pics, okay?

    1. You crack me up. Even if you never post them, you might find that taking pictures is really interesting. I have learned so much about what works and what doesn’t from this exercise.

    1. That’s awesome! I’ll probably put off posting the linky till the end of that week — like for Fashion Friday on July 5th. That will buy everyone a bit more time. 🙂

  4. I love your white jeans. I’m looking for something like those. Not see-through and not too skinny. I can’t do a real skinny pant, but almost. 🙂

    Plantar fascitis is the worst. My chiropractor actually worked on my foot and it helped it heal.

    1. I am actually seeing a chiropractor for this. It’s not getting better yet, but he says it will take time. The issues I was having with my other foot – both are plantar fasciitis, but the one presents in the heel (that’s the bad one) and the other under the ball of my foot – anyway, the one is somewhat better already but the heel is still giving me fits. He is doing a lot of massage and manipulation, then we do ice and stim and some physical therapies, so I am hoping that if I’m careful about doing my long runs on trails and stretching well after every run, it will eventually subside.

  5. I really like the maxi skirt outfit but it’s really too hot here in the summer to even wear that! Although the scarf would be good when I am in a place that has the A/C cranked!

    You look great in all the outfits (as usual!) and your makeup looks wonderful!

  6. I saw my mom wear sweat pants today, that looked like track pants (with the stripes), to go rummage sailing. I told her to never wear those unless she’s at home or exercising. That’s when I knew I need to help my mom. But I am a guy, so I do not know women fashion. This page showed up in my google search results, and I like your fashion styles more than anything else I have seen on google. Now I have a good idea what to get her for her birthday in 2 days. I want my mom to feel comfortable and beautiful when she goes out, and I feel the need to make sure she has at least one good outfit for her birthday. You have helped me so much! 🙂
