Daily Mom Style: 30 Days Of Outfits {Week 3}

Fashion Over 40 #30DaysOfSummerOutfits

My 30 Outfits in 30 Days Challenge is going well, but it’s hard for me to dismiss the urge to wear cut-offs and tank tops every day. I actually do end up in a variation of that outfit more often than not, because hey, it’s summertime, after all. My days are mostly comprised of working out, going to the chiropractor to treat my plantar fasciitis, and taking the kids to the pool. So not really much occasion to dress up, but I managed to fit in a few cuter outfits, and I haven’t repeated one yet. So yay me!

For those just tuning in, I decided that I have too many clothes that I don’t wear so I’m challenging myself to wear a different outfit every day for 30 days. I hope some of you will join me! I’ll be hosting a Linky during the first week of July when you can link up a post or a Pinterest board of the 30 outfits you’ve worn this month.

Here are the rules:

  1. Wear a different outfit every day for 30 days. Try to wear as many different pieces from your wardrobe as possible.
  2. You CAN repeat pieces of clothing, as long as you don’t repeat an entire outfit. So you can wear the same jeans twice, but not with the same top. Kapish?
  3. Take a photo each day and post them on July 1st. Then link up your post to my 30 Days of Outfits carnival. (If it’s too much of a hassle to take a picture of YOU wearing your outfit each day, you can always just take a photo of the clothes by themselves.) It’s super easy to use PicMonkey to make a collage of your outfits. Or if pictures and collages sound daunting, just list what you wore; that’s fine too! I’m easy! This is for fun, not to be stressful. If you don’t have a blog, you can link to a Pinterest board that you create.

Here is what I’ve been wearing this week!

30 days of summer outfits {days 13 – 19}

Day 13: neon pink tank (Old Navy, old) with cuffed jean shorts (old) and pink T-strap sandals (last year)

I wore this on the kids’ last day of school. It was a humid, rainy day and I got back from running just minutes before their bus was due to arrive. I was hosting a Last Day of School party for the neighborhood so I showered, leaving my sweaty hair in my ball cap, threw on some clothes and went to meet the bus. On my way out the door, I snapped this picture. I didn’t even bother to check and make sure my feet were in the picture.

That night I went to my son’s baseball game in this get-up but I switched to sneakers. It rained again, naturally. If nothing else, this photo is proof that it’s just as easy to put on real clothes as it is to put on yoga pants and a ratty tee shirt.

Day 14: Essential short-sleeve T (Gap) with cuffed jean shorts (yes, I wore the same shorts 2 days in a row; so sue me and take away my fashionista crown.) I jazzed up the simple outfit with my Studio Jewel “Night on the Town” luxe recycled sterling silver necklace with wire wrapped gemstones. The silver sandals are from Target (old) and the green bag is of course my summer fave!! I like the simplicity of this outfit. I went for the casual “front tuck” and added an enamel bangle in shades of blue.

Day 15: black lace ruffle trim top with green skinny jeans and black and white striped tote. I wore this to tour Longwood Gardens with my family on Saturday.

Day 16: navy and white striped dress from Ann Taylor with bone colored pumps. This I wore to church on Father’s Day and out to dinner afterwards. LOVE. So easy to wear. It only needs some simple silver jewelry, and I chose the red patent handbag for a pop of color.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain . . . or, um, the boy behind the door, who is trying to hide our patio cushions before my camera timer went off and took my picture! Ah, the life of a blogger’s son . . .

Day 17: Gap Medallion Slub Dolman Tee with cut-offs and flip flops. I’m double dipping; I put this on after church on Sunday so I’m fitting in an extra outfit here! I guess I should have labeled this Day 18b. Ha! It’s convenient that I have an extra because a photo I took one another day (wearing the same jean shorts, no less . . . they are just too easy to pull on and go with everything) didn’t turn out and I am too vain to post it.

I actually wore those cut-off shorts AGAIN over my bathing suit to the pool on Monday, but I’ll spare you that. During the morning, I wore my cuffed khaki shorts with an orange tank so I’ll share that instead.

Day 18: orange tank (J.Crew Factory) with cuffed khaki shorts (Banana Republic, old) and my favorite Frye sandals. necklace by Stella & Dot.

Pay no nevermind to that ugly tape on my leg; that is compliments of my chiropractor. And as you can see, we still haven’t moved that cushion from behind the wall.

Day 19: Navy & White striped cotton knit dress with elastic tie waist from Gap Factory Outlet. This is a bit of a digression from my typical style, but I really like it. I just hope it doesn’t shrink in the wash!! I wore it with my silver sandals but I was wishing I had a pair in yellow. Or a yellow handbag. I love yellow and navy together. The yellow bracelet had to suffice.
