Daily Mom Style: Ivory + Denim

Earlier this week, I decided to take a trip to the mall to do some “denim research” at Nordstrom. Stay tuned for a full run-down!! (It’s a tough job, y’all!!!) It was a beautiful fall day, not too cool, but not too warm either. I wanted to wear something cute but comfortable enough to walk around in and easy to change in and out of.

My Emma skinnies have been my go-to jeans this fall. They fit like skin, and the ankle-length style is so easy to wear with ballet flats. I wear them almost every day, and I’m not even exaggerating. I picked them up when DL1961 had them on sale for 40% off a few weeks ago. Unfortunately they’re back up to full price for the time being, but always watch for sales. I never pay full price for my denim.

The short-sleeved poncho is great for these mild fall days. I love ivory with denim. The poncho came from Stitch Fix, so I can’t link to it, but this one is similar, and here’s another with some great fringe detail.

I wanted to wear my Kiki ankle boots from The Walking Company, and I even put them on and took a selfie for Instagram.

But after I wore them around for a few minutes, I knew that I was going to regret trying to walk the mall in them, so I switched into my Felicia flats. Don’t get me wrong; they’re great boots, but I knew I’d be more comfortable in ballet flats. Plus, the flats were much easier to take off and on in the dressing rooms.

As you can see, I also switched bags and ditched the chevron necklace. I didn’t intend to ditch the necklace; I just forgot to put it back on after I changed back to my clothes at the mall. Any-Who.

This snakeskin satchel is lightweight and large enough to hold everything I could possibly need for a day at the mall. It’s a Stella & Dot bag that’s unfortunately been discontinued, but this one at Kohl’s is similar. I find myself carrying it a lot in the fall. It goes so well with nude and brown shoes.

To keep the neutral theme of the outfit, I layered on some gold and ivory bracelets and wore these white and gold Isla Drop Earrings. Even my sunnies work into the tones of this outfit! It’s such a simple outfit, but the poncho keeps it on trend, and the various textures add interest.

  1. Great outfit! I really like that you pointed out how to make a simple outfit more interesting. I’m pretty minimal when it comes to fashion, so that is very helpful. I’ve learned so much from your blog, thank you!

      1. I also found on Ebay a Stella and Dot beach bag you had shown in the summer (that was also discontinued)…….

    1. Ellen, love the shirttail sweater! I just got two of them at Sears for $17.99 each! Can’t find them online, but I really did just buy them this week. I got one in turqouise, and another in rasberry. 🙂

  2. I love this entire outfit!! I have the cheaper flats and wear them with everything. I’m just starting to build my wardrobe, so I absolutely love your blog!! 🙂

  3. This. Is. The. Sweater. I’m. AFTER!! I love it!! I really want to get a cozy, cream sweater just like this one. I’ve seen people write about Stitch Up before. I live overseas so they probably won’t be able to ship to me. It’s super, super cute! I’ll keep looking, and thanks for the similar link–which is also very lovely!

Love, Ann from Kremb de la Kremb
