Day 25 of 28 Winter Outfits

Wow, we’re on day 25. I am almost done with my 28 Days of Winter Outfits challenge, and I can honestly say, putting myself together every day has helped my general outlook on life far more than I expected it would.

I put on this outfit this morning and wore it for a few hours before I realized I had a PT appointment today. D’oh! Usually I do PT on Mondays and Thursdays. I get easily confused.

This navy sweater and olive green cargo pants both came from Stitch Fix. I love the high-low detailing on the sweater, although in these photos, it seems to be riding up in front. It is intended to be cropped, so I wore a cream colored tank underneath.

Did you notice!? NO BOOTS! I’m so tired of wearing boots every day, so I just jacked up the heat and enjoyed a pair of ballet flats for a change. These are probably THE most comfortable ballet flats I’ve ever worn. They were sent to me from the folks at Cobb Hill last fall. They’re associated with New Balance, and they have incorporated the cushion and support of a sneaker into stylish women’s shoes. Of course, they aren’t as supportive as a sneaker, but for a ballet flat, they’re about as good as it gets.

I only wore them for about an hour for fear of messing up my foot again. The irony is, I felt fine in the flats, but when I put on sneakers to go to PT, my foot flaked on me. I swear, there’s never a dull moment around here. I went ahead to PT, and she told me to call the doctor, which I did, and I was able to get in to see him this afternoon. He thinks it is sinus tarsitis. (Google is your friend.) It makes sense. I think I was trying to do too much too soon, what with PT, my training sessions, and then using my Fitbit to count my steps. Sooo… I have a heavy duty Advil script and if it doesn’t get better, I might need an injection of some sort. Joy and rapture!!!

Oh, and I have some sort of cyst on my hand, and he referred me to a hand specialist for that. Which reminds me, I never scheduled an appointment to have my wisdom teeth out.

The fun…. it never ends.

I am just happy he didn’t put me back in that horrid medical boot.

So…. back to my outfit, that I wore for all of two hours today….

I accessorized with gold. I love the necklace layering trend. The trick is to layer delicate pieces that work well together. Because my hair is pulled back, I wore hoops. They’re thin enough so as not to overpower the necklaces. Then I added a stack of Alex & Ani bangles to my wrist — again, in keeping with the delicate gold jewelry I’m wearing near my face.

Today definitely did NOT go as planned. I guess that’s just a good reminder that I did not write the screenplay of my life, but I trust the One who did, and He is good all of the time.

  1. I love this outfit. So simple and casual, yet you look totally put together. Maybe, it’s the gold jewellery. I’m going to search out those flats or similar ones. I find most have no cushion and feet hurt after an hour of wear.
Take care of that foot, so you don’t end up with greater problems. I know we always want to rush our recovery but it can set you back. I know because I’ve done it.

  2. Love the necklace layering. Do you have a favorite go to brand or store for these types of thin band delicate necklaces. I really like the look (even without the longer necklace to layer), and I see them on celebrities, but I can never find them in the stores. Nordstrom Rack had a few last Spring that were labelled Luck, Hope, Love, etc. with simple shapes, but it sat weird on my collarbone. I like the styles that are suspended between the chain instead of hanging down, if that makes sense. However, the one I bought isn’t centered, which kind of drives me crazy. Isn’t it funny how we all have specific needs/wants, etc. when it comes to accessorizing!

    1. I am a stylist for Stella & Dot, and I absolutely love their necklaces. They have TONS for layering, and many of them can be worn a few different ways so you can take them apart and wear just a strand or two or three. The BIANCA LARIAT can be worn suspended between the chain – is this what you mean? https://bit.ly/1zNLgnk
