Feeling Mellow Yellow . . .

Hello, friends. Happy Friday! You may remember the top I’m styling today from my last Trunk Club unboxing. (Don’t you love how I act like y’all hang on my every word?) Well, if you didn’t catch that unboxing, no worries because I threw on this outfit yesterday morning before my husband left for work so we could photograph it.

The neckline on this top is so interesting and pretty with its eyelet details and scalloped edges, and it’s flattering as well.

I love how the white and yellow pairs with distressed blue jeans. I’m sure there are more creative things that could be done with it, but I instantly envisioned these two pieces together.

For size reference, I have this top in the medium. I tried the small as well, but it was too tight in the bust and it was also too short.

Now let’s discuss these shoes!!! Yes, I have to admit, I bought them expressly to go with this top. Well, that’s not entirely true. I’ve been wanting to add yellow shoes to my closet for a while, so when I found this top, I decided to bite the bullet and get the shoes. They’re going to work nicely with a lot of other outfits too, and I like that they’re different from most of my other sandals.

These are a size 7.5. I tend to fluctuate between 7.5 and 8 in sandals. I ordered both sizes but I like the way the smaller size fits in these, so I’d say they’re true to size but if in doubt, size down. They are super comfortable and easy to walk in with a 3″ block heel, and they also come in brown and grey.

This outfit will be fun to wear for so many occasions. It’s got that great dressed-up casual vibe that works for so many venues, or this top can also be dressed down with jean shorts and flat sandals.

  1. Oh my goodness, I love this! I liked the top from the pics before but didn’t love it until now. Very unique! And those shoes! All the heart eyes going on here!! I seriously debated on those for weeks but ended up getting the studded sandal in that color when I saw them included in the mdw sale. I love them but they are SO loose on my foot. Not sure what, if anything, can be done.

    1. These are a little loose on the right shoe but after I took these pictures, I buckled it tighter, and that helped. I think it is an issue, though, with that style of strap.

  2. Cute top, but I would feel self conscious because your bra strap shows. I pass on many tops that I otherwise love because of this.

  3. Very nice outfit. It all just works!
Do you have any walking shoes you recommend for on vacation and visiting museums and other sites?

  4. What a soft baby yellow. I am just beginning to try yellow after hearing my mother’s comment in my years for 50 years that wearing it makes me look seasick! Ha! Baggage.

But surely wearing a bold yellow on my feet wouldn’t have that affect? Right??? Going to be on the look out for similar yellow sandals but on a retired librarian’s budget.

You look svelte and happy and sunshiny. Big hugs, friend.

  5. Awesome outfit! I do love the yellow shoes to bring it and the top together. Many moons ago, my mom had a pair of flat yellow sandals. I should have held onto them! Oh well. Two graduations next year also equals two parties.. Enjoy your weekend!

  6. You look so cute. Love how the yellow sandals go so great with the yellow in the top. I too like the distressed jeans with the top. Great job styling. As for your kids getting out of school…….I loved those days. It really makes it feel like summer has begun. Where I live, summer is still trying to come. Clouds and rain here today. 🙁 I can relate to your graduations to come. One year I had my son graduating from 8th grade, my daughter from high school and my other daughter from college AND getting married. This all happened between May and July. I thought I was going to be nuts. On Aug. 1st I sighed a relief that it all happened and I made it through it. I got mixed up which people were invited to which event etc. etc. With my kids all 4 yrs. apart, it seems many events hit together. I just had last summer my youngest son graduating from college and 2 months later my middle daughter getting married. It felt easy compared to the last time. 🙂 Enjoy every minute, as it all goes too fast. I love empty nesting now, but took getting use to. Once a mom……always a mom. 🙂

  7. I love unique pieces like this top. And blue and white is a favorite combination for me. Very cute!

  8. This top was probably my favorite thing from your trunk club box post. I love the outfit you put together. I would not have thought of yellow sandals, but they do make the outfit extra cute.

  9. I really like the way your styled this outfit but my comment is truly about your hair and especially your makeup. A-mazing!!!!

  10. I loved that top right from the get go when you did the Trunk Club unboxing. Those sandals are such a great color & certainly compliment the outfit! So glad we’re finally feeling some warmth here in PA! We have a full weekend coming up with different activities. I’ll be looking through my Pinterest board for some of your white jeans outfits! Things start tonight with a combo talent show & preschool graduation for our 4 year old granddaughter, followed by 2 kids baseball games tomorrow & a birthday party at 4:00. Then after church on Sunday, I’m going to a scrapbook workshop with a friend for the afternoon. I with I had that red Loft top for tonight that you’ve styled, but at least it’s on it’s way! Enjoy the weekend!

  11. I Love this outfit on you too!!! Love the yellow! I so enjoy your blog, feels like I’m sitting down for a few minutes to catch up with a friend <3. My grand-daughter just turned 6 this week…yikes!!!! Hugs.
