This week it went from summer to fall, practically overnight. You will definitely see that illustrated in my outfits this week!

We went out to dinner one night last week and I decided to pull out a maxi skirt in lieu of my usual jeans. I would typically feel like this outfit needs a colorful top, but I was inspired on Pinterest to keep it simple with a white top and denim jacket so I put this outfit together. It was a warm evening for a jacket but I knew I’d be comfortable in the restaurant.

For me, the key to making this look work is the figure-hugging top. If the tank wasn’t tight, I would look like a total frump-a-dump with a flowy skirt like this. The banded waist of the skirt helps keep my midsection smooth. I layered two pendant necklaces. I’m loving this trend. One fills in the neckline an the other breaks up the front of the top. The column created by the open jean jacket is slimming.

The bracelet adds some color to the outfit, and I used this opportunity to carry my metallic double clutch. I wore these simple wedge flip flops by Reef. They’re about 5 years old, but they’re very comfy and lend just enough height to carry off the maxi skirt.

Even though it was hot, I was dying to feel like fall so I chose this outfit to wear to the hair salon one day last week.

I figured I’d be cool enough in the tank, but I still ended up roasting by mid-afternoon and had to change.

I know this isn’t the most flattering outfit in my closet, but I enjoy the different look for a change. It helps that I lost an inch from the chest area during my detox.

I wore my Romy Wedge Sandals (or one of them, anyway, lol! I’m still in a boot.) And I’m still loving my How Does She Do It metallic tote. I got tons of compliments on it at the hair salon.

Like I said, I changed later in the day when it got too hot to wear long pants. Plus, there was really no need to cook dinner in a dryclean-only top. I’m not sure why I felt it necessary to dress up to go to the hair salon. I just wanted a reason to wear that outfit, I guess!

This is another new top from the Rock & Republic brand at Kohl’s. I think it’s safe to say this is my new favorite brand!! I also wore my Open Hearts for Amanda necklace so I’d remember to pray for Amanda as she’s undergoing chemo this week.

The flips are my daughter’s, but I threw them on long enough to take this picture. They’re PERFECT with the top. I may have to adopt them.

For back-to-school night at my kids school, I threw on one of my new Athleta dresses (still on sale!!) Everyone acted like I was all gussied up, but honestly it was the fastest thing I knew to throw on. I was running late, and I had the boot to contend with, and dresses are just so easy. Plus, our kids’ school is always sweltering so I was quite comfy and cool while everyone else was roasting in their cute jeans. So there! This photo is from the first time I wore it, but I put on the exact same outfit, right down to the accessories and the boot. The only difference is my hair was down since I just got it cut and it is now too short for a ponytail. Boohoo. (Love the new cut, though!)

I wore this on Friday to work from home. I was planning to work out but I had a sick baby who needed her mama close by. This outfit was sent to me from Fabletics. I’m diggin the geometric print pants, and this top is super flattering with its body skimming fit.

On Saturday, the weather suddenly turned chilly. We had plans to go to an outdoor venue that night, so after much deliberation I decided to wear this teal tunic sweater and black knit pants. I love how the pants read as leggings but they’re actually pants so they’re modest and also warmer than leggings.

And it gave me the opportunity to wear my rain boots! I played around with scarves and necklaces and finally settled on this piece from Target. It’s a few years old, and it seemed like the right weight for the outfit. I wanted something more substantial than a delicate chain.

On Sunday, I wore my green jeans with this white top and my denim jacket. It’s so much fun to start layering again!! Supposedly, colored jeans are on their way out, but I still feel pretty comfortable wearing them around here. I’m not ready to ditch mine just yet.

I wore my Cobb Hill Emma ballet flats (so so so comfy!!) and carried my Tory Burch crossbody and layered a gold pendant with a longer mixed stone necklace. I love the topaz and gold, it feels so fall.

  2. Do you do the VIP deal with Fabletics or did they send you the outfit to review? I love their workout clothes, and those VIP prices, but I’m intimidated by the whole monthly subscription-deal. I don’t need to be buying workout clothes every month and I doubt that I’ll be super good about remembering to cancel the shipments. Just curious how you do it.

      1. I don’t think you have to buy each month, but I think you have to remember to cancel. Or, spend too much time (and possibly money) going to the post fife to make the return.

  3. Jo-Lynne, I love the shorts outfit with that shirt and your daughter’s comfy flip flops!   My goal is to be able to wear a belt and it look flattering like that.  I also loved the outfit you wore to the Hair Salon!  You look fabulous!

  4. LOVE your grey hunter boots! I have 4 different pairs myself, theyre one of my favorite fashion items to date. So versatile, cozy and fashionable!

  5. Your welcome! And yes you should they ate very cute on you, you look phenomnal for your age. Are you much of a dress person? I have a ton of ideas i would love to show you and see if any pique your interest!
