Fall Trends to Try: Camo Tee Now & Later

Happy Friday, friends, and welcome to my new collaboration with Cyndi Spivey — Fall Trends: Now & Later!

Instead of our usual daily outfit style series, we’re trying something new! We will each style a fall trend two ways every Friday during the month of September, and this week we’re styling the camo trend for now and later.

Camo print for streetwear has been around for a while, and it tends to wax and wane in popularity, but this fall camo is back in a big way. I decided to style a camo tee two ways.

I found this camo tee at American Eagle. I was drawn to the muted color palette as well as the v-neckline, but I could probably size down. (I’m wearing the medium.)

It’s soft and thicker than most of my other t-shirts, so it’s a nice weight to carry you into fall.

It’s still hot here in Philly, so I styled this camo tee for now with a pair of cigarette leg jeans and my white leather sneakers.

When these jeans went on sale last week, they started selling out, but there are similar styles available — like this Gap pair and this Everlane pair. And of course, I love my AG Primas, although I recommend waiting for a sale.

White leather sneakers are trending at the moment, but these have a classic style to them so they keep my look current without looking try-hard.

I find myself wearing these more now that it’s not as hot outside.

My Veja Esplar sneakers keep selling out, but I also like the looks of this Kenneth Cole pair, and they’re currently an additional 25% off the sale price.

This look is easy and casual — perfect for running errands and chasing kids (or grandkids) on the playground.

To carry this camo tee and jeans into fall, I added an ivory cardigan, and I swapped my sneakers for ankle boots.

These booties are incredibly comfortable and walkable, and they’re also waterproof! This sesame color is perfect for fall, and I love how it plays with other muted colors in this outfit.

While the website recommends sizing up, I find them true to size; I’m wearing the 8. This color is currently being price matched, so it’s marked 30% off. I don’t know how long that will last, so if you’ve had your eye on these, now’s a great time to spring for them.

This sweater is also almost sold out . . . another #NSale purchase! But it’s just an example — there are so many cardigan options out there right now.

In fact, this Kent cardigan from Madewell is 15% off right now for Insiders. (It’s free to sign up for their Insider Rewards program.)

This sweater is about 3 inches shorter than the burgundy cardigan I styled on Wednesday, so it will fit under more coats — although I don’t mind if mine extends an inch or two below.

Another good option is this LOFT shirttail cardigan, and it’s 40% off.

For this look, I cuffed my jeans so they just barely meet the top of the booties.

I kept my accessories simple with a disc pendant necklace and small ball stud earrings. Both of these designers make nice jewelry that lasts, and I find myself wearing these pieces a lot.

For a similar look, these Karine Sultan stud earrings are really fun, and this disc pendant from Halogen would complement them nicely.

Finally, my Everlane tote in the light taupe goes with everything and holds a ton. I keep trying to downsize, but at the end of the day, I really like a large bag I can throw everything into.

You’d think at my kids’ ages, I wouldn’t need to cart their stuff around anymore, but someone is always asking me if I can put their phone or wallet in my bag. This way, I don’t have to get cranky about it, and if I get too warm, I can toss my cardigan in too!

  1. I love both of these looks and I can duplicate them… I just need to find the right camo tee.. I’m headed to the mall this morning so I’ll stop into American Eagle and have a look:) I’m excited about these  posts  with Cyndi on Friday’s. Have a good one😀

  2. I just bought these Kut from the Kloth cigarette jeans. Have them on today, and I love the high waist. So comfortable! Thanks for the recommendation.

    1. I’m so excited that camo is trending for Fall!! In my Army days I wasn’t able to pair it with pretty jewelry, cute shoes or accessories so I’m having so much fun making this trend girly😊 You look beautiful as always! Have a blessed weekend!!

  3. Love this casual look and so excited about this new Friday series. Just another reason to look forward to Friday’s. 😉
I’ve had some AE jeans in the cart but just wasn’t sure they would be my style since I’m in my fifties but I keep hearing they a good and I can wear jeans to work as long a they aren’t distressed so I think I’ll order them with the Camo tee now.

  4. Love the whole outfit, but especially the camo tee!  The length of your hair is very flattering.  I am going to have to practice cuffing my cigarette jeans for when I pair them with my booties.  We are going to have highs in the upper 90’s to the low 100’s thru the weekend, and we could still be dealing with above average temps in October.  Come on Fall!  Have a great weekend!

  5. Love this new style series. This outfit looks great both ways, I may prefer the one with booties more because I rarely wear sneakers. But they both look great!

  6. The AE tees are a great fit and weight, however, I bought both the camo and another color early this summer and both wore terribly after a few washes. I would pay a little more for better quality fabric.

  7. Fun idea for a fall collab!  Glad y’all found something more feasible but didn’t give it up altogether!  I personally love now and later type posts, as the concept can often be applied to items I already have.  Same goes with styling the same item casual vs dressy!  Looking forward to the rest of this collab!

  8. I really like both these outfits.  I agree with all, the muted camo is nice.  I also ordered the Kut jeans – waiting on their delivery – and am hopeful I’ll like them as much as everyone else.  I’ve ordered about 1/2 a dozen pairs of jeans in the past week or so.  Three are already going back, one AG Mari straight grey jeans I’m keeping and we shall see about the Kut.  Thanks for the tips!

  9. Tx for these early fall posts.
We struggle here in the south….still in the 90’s, will not have one day below 90 until about 9-21….seems as though we wear shorts almost all year….

  10. Man you have been slaying it lately or I have dressing my style. 😀 I love this look and very easy to pull together at any price point. Thank you for the style inspiration! Hope you have a awesome weekend! Keep up the awesome work. 😀

  11. I bought those same Kut from the Kloth jeans when you recommended them last week.  I put them on today to wear for casual Friday at work and I LOVE them!   I’m still not ready to pull the trigger on the premium denim, so this was a nice compromise for me.  I love they are high waisted without being uncomfortable.  I’ve worn them all day and they haven’t bagged out.  Thanks for the recommendation!

  12. Great outfit for fall, and of course chasing after the grandkids!  I finally purchased a camo T, just haven’t worn it yet!  Love how you styled it with the cardigan & lighter wash jeans.  Your hair style looks so chic, not that is normally doesn’t, but for some reason it looks a bit different to me!  Like the collaboration idea with Cyndi!  Have a great weekend!

    1. It’s a small, and I haven’t washed it yet, but it’s Halogen so generally good quality. Unfortunately my exact one sold out, or there are just limited sizes as they get returns. I linked a few other options tho.
