Famous in our own Lunchtimes

I grabbed this meme from Shannon.

farm

What do you like most about where you live?

The open spaces — the high ceilings and openness of my house, the openness of the yards in our neighborhood, the country roads and farms that makeup the area around us.  And yet the shopping, culture, and history of a big city is within an hour’s drive.  It’s the best of both worlds!

Is there anything strange about where you live?

Maybe the lovely fragrance supplied by the farm behind our development, let’s just call it “eau de manure”.

What’s one of your all-time favorite music albums and why?

Wow, that’s tough.  I’m gonna have to say Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run.  Because this album holds my favorite song, “Thunder Road”.  And also because Born To Run was perhaps the most significant album Bruce made and really defines his signature style.  It was made at a crossroads in his career and is considered an epic, the one that permanently secured his place among rock icons everywhere.

Did you have a passion for something as a kid that you still have now? (If not – what is one of your passions now?)

I’ve always had a passion for being a school teacher.  I played school from the time I was in kindergarten until I was too old to be playing pretend (well into middle school).  I majored in elementary education and taught 3rd grade for a couple of years before “retiring” to be a stay-at-home-mom.  I still look forward to returning to the classroom some day.

What do you like most about having a blog?

I like having the outlet to express myself and the opportunity to exercise my mind as well as keeping up with my writing and editing skills.  I am by no means a “writer” nor do I have any ambitions to make writing a profession.  But I have always felt that I express myself much better in writing than I do verbally, so this forum allows me to compose my thoughts and tweak what I have to say until I’m happy with it.

  1. I enjoyed this. It’s interesting how childhood passions do carry on into adult life for so many people. I like your writng style too. You put a smile on my dial with the “eau de manure”.

  2. Thanks for checking out my blog. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, too, and I love home schooling my kids. Teachers rock!
