It’s amazing I have anything to show for myself this week. I feel like I’ve been chained to my computer, trying to wrap up this cookbook, but I do have a few outfits to share.

I was excited to try my new black ruffle front peplum jacket with some different outfits. For well over a year, I’ve looked at certain blouses in my closet and thought that I would get a LOT more wear out of them if I had a cute black fitted blazer in my wardrobe. Well, NOW I do!

The issue, I discovered on Sunday, as I tried on my new jacket with about five different blouses, is the ruffle placket down the front. Most of my blouses happen to have ruffles down the front, which is ironic as I’m not really a ruffly girl. Or maybe I am and didn’t know it. At any rate, the ruffles on the jacket are a bit much with ruffles down the front of a blouse.

I’m actually really psyched to try the jacket over some casual t-shirts for that edgy casual-chic vibe. Maybe next week. But for this week, I paired it with a black-and-white polka-dot blouse.

It works with the ruffles on the jacket because the blouse doesn’t have a lot of detail on the front. It needed SOME thing though, so I added this long silver pendant necklace that I picked up from Target a while back.

And my pink bag.

I finished it off with my Cole Haan Air Milly Wedge Pumps. These have NIKE AIR technology folks. Really, so very comfortable and cute too. My feet have been temperamental lately so I wanted to make sure to wear sensible shoes.

If you love the Cole Haan Air Milly, the dark silver that I have are becoming hard to find. These are similar but spendy. And these are ADORBS. I love the sandstone, so perfect for summer AND they’re on sale for $75.

Okay, moving on…

I wore this outfit last week before spring decided to grace us with its presence…. UGGS with my faithful skinny jeans plus a maroon cami and black boyfriend sweater. Simple outfit, but nice enough for running errands and interacting with the public. The necklace, by the way, I picked up at Ten Thousand Villages.

This was a comfy day at the computer with a doctor’s appointment to break up the day. This oatmeal cashmere tunic sweater is one I usually wear with leggings, but I decided to pair it with my dark skinny jeans and I styled it so that the wide ribbed “waistband” sat on my hips rather than keeping it long.

The most notable part of this outfit? My new TOMS Berry Metallic Linen Ballet Flats! I ordered these on that Zulily sale that I posted about a while back. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfy they are. In fact, true confessions . . . I actually ordered them for my daughter, and when they came I liked them so much I decided to keep them. HA! They have a really nice cushion under the heel — perfect for me and my troublesome feet. I know they’re still not supportive enough for all-day wear, but I can definitely get by with them for a few hours at a time when I want to be cute.

Speaking of troublesome feet, this was my attempt to be cute AND practical. I tried wearing my Puma sneakers with skinny jeans. This is not a look I’m accustomed to, but . . . I dunno. It’s not horrendous, I guess, but it’s just not . . . me.

Hey, maybe if I wear bright pink lipstick and carry a cute bag, no one will notice my shoes!

The sequin sweatshirt is from Target. It was one of those spontaneous purchases that Target is so well known for. The silver disc earrings are Stella & Dot.

This was actually a few weeks ago — my attempt at trying something new with this ripped sweatshirt that everyone but me seems to loathe. I tried putting over an orange tank.

I wore my leggings and black moto boots. For hanging out at home, it works. I still really REALLY want black UGG sweater boots but who buys winter boots in March? Making do with what I got for now!!

Jeez, I really did get dressed a lot for spending so much time at home this week!

  1. Love your laid back style, wish I looked as great as that round the house! I actually love ruffles so love your jacket. Funny you say nobody buys boots in March as I went on a boot shopping spree last week, there were ridiculously good deals on clearance that I simply couldn’t resist! Least I’m all sorted for next winter 🙂

  2. Love your outfits. I was thinking about purchasing the WHBM Ruffle Front Peplum Jacket. How have you enjoyed it so far? How does the jacket run, true to size or small?

      1. Well I did it, I bought the Peplum jacket! I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet but I really loved it when I tried it on and think it’ll get a lot of good use over the fall. The best part was, I got an amazing deal during the clearance sale. With a coupon I got the jacket for $69.99, down from $130! I love a good deal, plus the jacket is super cute, and it was the last one in my size online! Thanks for showcasing it.
