Fashion Friday :: Easter Sunday Attire

I got a few requests for a post on Easter fashion, so here goes. I will be the first to admit, I don’t put a lot of thought into my Easter outfits. I did growing up. Shopping for a new Easter outfit was a BIG DEAL in my house. We didn’t do the Easter basket thing or the Easter bunny thing, so it was all about Sunday morning, church, getting dressed up and going out for lunch. Yes, I’m from the South. What can I say?

Now that I’m the momma, I admit, I don’t think much about my own outfits on Easter Sunday. (My kids do get new outfits, though.) I usually go for something in my closet.

I don’t do a lot of dresses, and here in the northeast, it is often chilly on Easter Sunday, so I usually opt for pants.

HOWEVER.

If it was guaranteed to be warm, and if I was going out to a nice restaurant afterwards, and if I thought I would have other occasions to wear it, I’d go for something like this printed sheath dress from Ann Taylor with cream or beige pumps, as shown. It reminds me of one of Monet’s watercolor paintings.

This Poppy Print sheath dress by Milly also caught my eye. It’s $$$ but if you’re gonna daydream, go big or go home, right??

Florals are back in vogue this season, and while I’m not typically a floral sorta girl, this one appeals to me. I think it’s the bright colors, and of course, the poppies. Who doesn’t love poppies??

I typically opt for skirts and tops over dresses, and there are plenty of options in that category too. I’m a huge fan of navy-and-white on Easter.

How about you? What are you wearing for Easter this year? Do you usually get a new outfit or shop your closet?

  1. I’m definitely the closet shopper! I’m all about making sure my daughter has something new, but I’ll find something in my closet that will do. I think it has something to do with all the years of my mom dressing me up for Easter with the hat, gloves and puffy dress that I absolutely hated that brings dread to shopping for an Easter attire for myself. Plus, I’d prefer to be comfortable, like you, and wear a pair of nice slacks and cute blouse. Love your outfit choice, btw!!!

  2. I am thinking about finding a skirt and a twinset. I am not sure. I am waiting till next Wednesday to go go shopping so that I can get a general idea as to what the weather might be. Since I live in the same general location, I know what you mean about the crazy weather.

  3. Since I’m hoping to buy a new dress for the many weddings we have this spring/summer I will probably wear something from my closet. I like to dress up a bit but I don’t usually buy new.

  4. I am with you! I am wearing the same outfit I did last year. It’s cute and perfect for spring…so it works!

  5. Thanks for posting…..I was one of the ones asking. I am on the midwest…..so we never know what the weather is going to be like either. I found a black and white floral dress that has hot pink trim (and no I am not a hot pink kind of girl) but the pink makes it more spring like. It has small straps so a shrug for church is definitely needed. I couldnt decide so I bought a white, hot pink, and black shrug. Of course I like the back shrug the best but that doesnt really scream Spring! The hot pink looks good with the dress but I am not sure about the color on me. If I cant get a girlfriend over I may have my dear husband take a couple of pictures and send your way to get your thoughts:).

  6. I’m a sucker for Navy Blue. I love what you put together for the Spring outfit. I like to get a little something new for Easter, even if it’s just jewelry or a top. The skirt is a little pricy, but I haven’t bought anything in a while…and…hmm…how else could I justify that purchase? 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  7. I love your outfit, and I want that sweater! I don’t get anything new for Easter since I shop all year long. I will find something in my closet. When my girls were young, I would get them a new dress, but it always ends up being cold on Easter in Ohio. Now that they are older, they wear what they already have.
