Fashion Friday :: FNO at Neiman Marcus

Last night Melissa and I participated in the Fashion’s Night Out celebration at King of Prussia Mall. We arrived around 6pm to hang out in the Social Media Lounge outside of Neiman Marcus where there were hair stylists and makeup artists doing mini makeovers, hors d’oeuvre being passed, and laptops set up for people to check out our sites. Here’s a photo I took while they were setting up.

Some of our friends came out to hang with us, which was great, because otherwise it would have been a loooong 2 hours. Let’s just say I’m not so sure patrons cared too much about meeting the fashion bloggers. They did, however, seem to have a great time getting their pictures taken in front of the big pink Fashion’s Night Out sign. Which cracks me up, because really? I’m not so sure I would care if I was a passing patron. But I’m glad they had fun.

And of course Melissa and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get OUR picture taken in front of the big pink sign.

A little before 8pm, we went upstairs to style our models. YES! “OUR MODELS.” Truly, the whole thing was surreal. Here is the rack of outfits we chose.

And here are some of the models, preparing to walk the runway. They aren’t wearing our styles in this photo. We went last, and they were in the first group.

Finally, it was our turn. We stayed back until it was time for us to introduce our looks. Melissa and I walked out with our first model and sat at the head of the runway and talked about our looks. It was a WEE BIT NERVE WRACKING! We did okay, but let’s just say, there were some moments of radio silence. Fortunately there was a lot of music blaring to fill in.

Here is one of our favorite looks. We tried to choose styles that were wearable and approachable — something a real woman would wear on any given day. This fur vest is divine, and paired with colored bootcut jeans? LOVE. The fur is probably the most impractical piece we chose, but even so, you could totally get away with it for a date night or a fun lunch with girlfriends.

Now this look is totally wearable. I love the chunky sweater trend for this fall — so great when you aren’t feeling your slimmest. And the colored jeans. Must. Get. Some. They are at the top of my fall fashion must have list.

And those boots? I went right to them when we were picking out shoes last week. Those are Louboutins, and they retail for $1295. I KNOW.

We pulled seven looks, but I’ll just show you one more here. We’ll be posting more on All Things Chic when we get more photos back.

This Diane von Fürstenberg wrap dress is simply classic. This could take you from work to dinner to church to an event… anywhere you need to go. And also? Those Prada wedge peeptoe pumps? To. Die. For.

At the end of the night, we got a photo of all the Philly Social Media Moms who came out. I appreciate each and every one of you . . . thank you SO much for being there!

  1. Oh, I’m ahead of the trend! I bought purple jeans last fall, and love them. In fact, I’d love some more colored jeans, but brighter colors this time. I feel red and yellow calling me, and orange, too, though the colors are a bit vivacious for conservative moi.

Wish I could have been there! I am absolutely exhausted from back to school, and need to find some kind of fuel to keep me going because there’s SO much to do and so little TIME!

  2. You ladies look fab. I love how the fashion world has gone back to the 80’s for trends. Color jeans where hot than. I had a lot. Time to get more 🙂

  3. That gorgeous wrap dress and wedge peeptoe’s absolutely made my mouth water. Is that the correct response to clothes? I love wrap dresses because they are classic, flattering, and super comfy to boot!! Now that my littlest one is almost one, I feel like I can get out of the mom clothes, which for me is a t-shirt and jeans or shorts and flip flops. B.O.R.I.N.G!!!!!

While I may not have the budget for DIane von Furstenburg and Prada, I am inspired to head over to J.crew or Gap!!

I am not too sure about the colored jeans, though . . . 🙂

  4. This will make me sound tragically uncool, but I cannot get behind the colored jeans trend. They just don’t look good to me. I think they remind me of being a kid in the 80s and not in a good way.
