Introducing . . . Sweet Relish

I like to shop. I’m sure this is news to no one. I used to spend my days meandering aimlessly around the mall, but as I’ve gotten busier I do most of my shopping from the comfort of home. Online shopping has become so convenient, it’s hard to motivate myself to brave the mall anymore. I know, lazy much??

Incidentally, does anyone remember when online shopping was just being born? I remember looking at the first websites to put their products online and getting frustrated because they showed such limited options and the photographs didn’t show the details of the products.

Nowadays you’d be hard pressed to find a retail establishment that doesn’t display their entire inventory on their website.

In fact, sometimes it gets thoroughly overwhelming. I hate it when I come across a great find, only to lose track of it before I have a chance to go back and purchase.

Many times I have an event coming up or a post to write, and I spend hours perusing various websites, collecting ideas and links. I have taken to making a crude list in a text edit document to keep track of what I find until I’m ready to sort through them. It works, but it’s not very efficient.

Enter Sweet Relish — a new site that allows you to discover, organize, and share your online discoveries.

You can create lists by topics that you can come back to for future reference, or share with others. For example, say you have a big event coming up and you’re trying to find the PERFECT outfit. You can make a list of possible products just for that event. Or you can create wish lists to share with family members at birthdays and Christmas time. You can curate ideas for a party you’re planning or a home improvement project you’re thinking about. The list is virtually limitless.

What I love about it is that it’s visual. It’s more than a list, but you can actually see the items you’ve saved as well so it’s easy to go back and find what you’re looking for. And then you can buy right from the site, without having to click away.

For me, it’s a great tool for posts I have in the works about a certain trend or wardrobe item. For example, I’ve been working on a post about the Spring 2013 Fashion Trends. Here’s my list so far.

When I go to write the post, I will come back to this list and pick and choose the examples I want to showcase in the post.

All you have to do is install the Relish button on your toolbar, and then when you’re perusing the web, you click the button and save to the list of your choice.

You can use a list or predetermined topics or create your own.

But Sweet Relish is also a community. You can follow other Relishers, which is a great way to find cool new products. It’s super fun to see what my friend are “relishing” at the moment.

I love how easy it is to make lists for things I’m working on or for products I’m coveting. This would have been such an awesome resource during my purse hunt a few weeks ago!!

So check out Sweet Relish and tell me what you think. If you join, please follow me, and I’ll make sure to follow you back!!!

I’m excited to announce that I’ve agreed to be a Sweet Relish blog ambassador because I like the site so much!

  1. As shopping is one of my least favorite things to do, I admit that I don’t always read fashion posts. The title of this post caught my eye, so I clicked and read. I think it is so great that you *like* to shop, and I have to admit, this is a pretty great thing 🙂

  2. So how is this better suited to saving product ideas than pInterest or Polyvore? I love the idea but I don’t like the idea of creating yet another online identity to keep track of. But I currently have about 5 windows open of different products I’m considering for different things and I’d love to have them stored in one place.

    1. Good question, and that was my initial reaction. I like Sweet Relish for shopping and Pinterest for recipes and other creative inspiration. To me, Pinterest should be pretty, so I don’t like to yuck it up with a bunch of products I’m watching, ya know?

I have used Pinterest to keep track of my wish list and items I’m collecting in the past, but now I will do that on Sweet Relish and keep Pinterest for recipes and articles that I want to share and things like that.

But the biggest difference is that you can buy right from the site. With Pinterest, people often pin from the wrong URL and make it hard to find the product they posted if you like it. But this way, you have the option to BUY right on the site. It’s pretty cool.

  3. Great idea! Im gonna try this site! I have a similar pin on pinterest labeled clothes on my buy list 🙂

  4. I never thought about using it like that. I signed up for an account to enter a giveaway but just thought it was another pinterest. I never took the time to actually check it out. I can see how it would be very useful. Great post. 🙂
