Fashion Over 40: Daily Mom Style 07.22.15

Welcome back to my weekly post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fashion bloggers around the web! I’ve been on vacation this past week, so my daily outfits are all repeats. I packed so that I could mix and match and be comfy. I was tempted not to take pictures while I’m gone, but then I decided I need the motivation when I’m vacation probably more than I need it at home! So here we are.

This is what I wore the day we left for Cooperstown. I knew we’d be traveling most of the day, so comfort was my #1 priority.

Fashion Over 40: pink tee with cuffed denim Bermuda shorts

Outfit Details: Halogen Modal & Linen Tee (40% off!!!) // denim Bermuda shorts (similar here and here) // grey skimmers c/o Payless // necklace c/o J. Jill // snakeskin belt (old) // beaded bracelet (old)

That night for dinner, I changed into my black Atheta Dot Fuse Dress. It’s sold out, but this one is similar, AND on sale!! I wore the dress again the next day to tour the National Baseball Hall of Fame and then to drive on up to Manchester, Vermont, where we had dinner at a restaurant called The Perfect Wife.

I’m telling you, this dress doesn’t quit. It looked as good when I took it off on Thursday night as it did when I put it on Wednesday afternoon. Needless to say, I threw it into the first load of wash I did when we got to Maine, but only because I felt like it must need it. It still looked as good as new.

Fashion for Women Over 40: Casual Summer Dress

Outfit Details: Athleta Dot Fuse Dress (similar) // Orthaheel Adelie // Stella & Dot Blessed Bangle // Silpada Duomo Necklace

I can’t even remember what I wore on our car ride up to Maine on Friday, and I didn’t bother to take a picture, but I wore my Ramones Tee and dark jeans on Saturday, our first full day in Maine. Our weather has been back and forth since we’ve been here, and it was a chilly, drizzly day.

Fashion Over 40: Jeans and Graphic Tee

Outfit Details: Rock & Republic Ramones Burnout Tee c/o Kohls // Florence Skinnies in Topeka wash c/o DL1961 (sold out; but the Falcon wash is now ON SALE at Nordstrom!!!) // Vionic Adelie Sandals // crossbody bag // bracelets c/o J. Jill

On Sunday, I wore my orange tank and grey & white maxi skirt to church in the morning and later on out to dinner. I added my white cardi because there was a chill in the air. Gotta love Maine summers!

Outfit Details: orange tank (similar) //Carly Maxi Skirt c/o LNBF // silver sandals (old) // white cardi (old) // crossbody bag

I don’t have any pictures from Monday. It was a schlumpy sort of day. But I wore this exact outfit yesterday to hang out at camp and meet a friend for coffee. I didn’t bother to take a new picture since I had this one from last week.

Casual Summer Outfit: Coral Striped Tank + Denim Bermuda Shorts

Outfit Details: striped top // denim Bermuda shorts (similar here and here) // Vionic Lizbeth Sandals // Lexi Bucket Bag in Cuoio (see the Lexi Bucket Bag on sale at Nordstrom) // Tory Burch FitBit Bracelet // Alex and Ani Bangles // engravable disc necklace

So yeah, I warned you. There’s nothing new this week, but as I like to say, this is real life I’m living here. It’s easy to get caught up in the pressure to have something new to share every week, but I try to remember that the point of these posts is to hold myself accountable to putting myself together every day most days, and to challenge myself and anyone following along to try some new trends or to put some new outfits together from what we have in our closets. I hope you find some style inspiration here, but most of all, I want you to know that you are worth the effort.

There are some days, or let’s face it, some periods of life when it doesn’t seem worth it, but you will feel so much better and be so much more productive if you take an extra five minutes in the morning to put on a pair of pants that button and swipe on some mascara and lipgloss. Go crazy, and maybe even add some earrings and a bracelet. See what a difference it makes in your outlook on life. You are worth it.

    1. It’s sooooo easy to say, what the heck, who cares…. I still do that far too often. But I always feel so much better when I go ahead and spend the extra 5… okay, 20 minutes to get fixed up. 🙂

  1. I completely agree that taking the time to get ready in the morning makes such a difference! I am now wishing I would have taken a look at the Athleta dress earlier since they’re out of my size now! (Reviews seem to indicate it runs a little big. Would you agree?) Love the last outfit. I think that may be what I’ll wear for today since I have something very similar! As always, thanks for the inspiration!

  2. It seems like you are experiencing the same erratic weather we’re having here in Oslo! Really annoying that we don’t get to wear all our skimpiest summer clothes. You did a good job on the outfits while on holiday — unless you take excess luggage, it’s hard to be fashion forward while vacationing. That’s what destination shopping is for! I normally pack according to a colour scheme, so most things can be mixed and matched. That ensures that I can still lift my suitcase without causing back injury! And leave some room for that shopping… 😉

  3. I so agree! Because of the season of life I’m in, my kids are not old enough to do many things by themselves so I can take a few minutes to look nice and it helps me feel more ready for the day. Before I would just want to hide in the house sometimes!

  4. Hey Leslie! It’s good to “see” you. 🙂

I am seeing a new PT and a new doc, and my foot seems to be on the mend. I’m verrrry gradually starting to run again, following a program and trying not to do too much too soon. 🙂 Crossing fingers that I can get past this and get back to “normal”!!

  5. you are such a cute girl. The tanks with the wider shoulder are very flattering to you. The skinny strap orange tank is not as flattering. I love the striped one on you! 5lb difference…seriously.
